The Protagonist System
350 The Expected Twist

With the first week of rushed prepped training done, making all of the girls in my squad proud of themselves for getting through Hell Week, I dropped us back to the normal schedule. The funny part of that was both Zita and Nani were included, even if they weren't going to be deployed as field assets. They wanted the option to be back-up, just in case, and the other girls were happy with that.

The surprising thing was Bonnie also wanted to be included. I objected at first, until she hit me with her reasonable argument that if Kim could do it, then so could she. After that, she cursed and yelled at me, and Tara, for tricking her into signing up to be tortured, then she did a complete 180 when the first week was over and she had performed as well as the others.

So, I had Adrena Lynn, Camille Leon, Tara King, and Bonnie Rockwaller as field agents, making us a full squad of five members. Nani Pelekai, Zita Florez, and the Australian scientist Lachlan Williams were the staff that kept things running and safe for operation.

We even had our own small communications station set up to not interfere with the Global Justice Network's other operations, which Dr. Betty Director appreciated.

Of course, now that we were an officially recognized squad, we were added into the normal rotation for missions. I could have refused and kept us fully independent; but, the whole point of sharing the base was to become a strategic asset that Betty could call upon when she needed a team and not just a single agent or a pair of agents.

I had barely started giving the girls the first stage of body tune-ups, and we started working on their new fitness levels, when we were called for immediate duty. There was some kind of ruckus being caused in London, England. It was causing chaos and civilian casualties and Global Justice needed more than a single agent to handle it.

We scrambled into our uniforms, custom made ones that made is stand out, and our team ran to the hangar and entered the hoverjet. I had Adrena Lynn pilot to let her gain more experience than using the flight simulator, and I listened to Dr. Betty Director's briefing with my cell phone in conference call mode.

“My source just confirmed that it's Lord Monty Fiske, code name Monkey Fist.” Betty told us. “He's unleashed huge mutated monkeys and silverback gorillas onto the population for some reason.”

“He might want attention from you with Drakken out of the way.” Nani offered as an explanation. “Maybe to test himself against the new Ron?”

“That's possible.” Zita said and pages could be heard being flipped through. “Or he's somehow gathering mystical energy from the anger and destruction his creations are causing. It's not the first time he's tried something similar, according to the records.”

“I doubt we'll be able to ask him before they destroy part of the city.” I said and the other team members nodded. “Should we split up? I can go to his mansion to handle him personally and see if there's a control program, or something like a spell matrix controlling the apes, while the girls head into the city proper and take care of the creatures on their own.”

Four appreciative looks were sent my way for trusting them to handle things themselves for their first mission.

“I think Monkey Fist will come to you if you show up, especially if he planned this.” Betty said. “Stick with your team and deal with those mutations as quickly as possible.”

“Understood, Director. We won't let you down.” I promised and the four girls nodded.

“Good luck and godspeed.” Betty said and hung up.

“So, we're going lethal right from the start?” Camille asked and pulled out an ornate dagger from her belt. It looked both expensive and deadly.

“Innocent people are being attacked and are dying to mindless creatures, just for the amusement of a supervillain.” I responded. “If we don't go lethal as soon as we attack, they could harm or kill more innocent people and none of us want that.”

“Agreed.” Tara said and pulled out her dart gun. “I'm switching my primary weapon from tranquilizers to euthanasia rounds.”

“Good idea.” Bonnie said and did the same thing. “What do the enemy numbers look like?”

“We're seeing at least twenty of the giant monkeys and ten gorillas.” Zita answered. “It could be more, since we don't have access to the internal security cameras to most of the businesses in the downtown area.”

“He released them downtown?!?” Camilla gasped. “That rotten bastard! Harrod's is downtown!”

“Oh, he's in for it now.” Adrena said with a chuckle. “No one messes with Camilla's shopping habits and gets away with it.”

“Damn right.” Camilla said and ran her thumb across the very sharp blade. “I think his pelt will make a nice scarf.”

I gave her a searching look and she gave me a smile back. “You know what? Sure. I'll beat him down enough to weaken him and you can finish him off.”

Camilla smiled and showed off her perfect teeth. “Thanks, boss.”

I chucked and reached over to pat her shoulder. “I just want to see his face when it's you that takes him out and not me, his chosen rival.”

Camille nodded and put her knife away.

“I hope you're all okay with this.” I said to everyone else and they shrugged.

“He's more trouble than he's worth to keep alive.” Zita said and we heard the sound of more pages being flipped. “He doesn't have any heirs and he has cost several governments more than his current fortune is worth, which includes his lord title and mansion, too.”

“We can let Dr. Betty Director and Global Justice handle the distribution, since she's usually the one cleaning up his messes.” Nani said. “It also keeps us from having to handle that whole headache.”

I chuckled. “You have enough work advising us about our own finances.”

“I really do and I wouldn't have it any other way.” Nani responded.

“Me, either.” Zita said. “I've never felt more vital or needed before.”

“Aww, you girls are making me blush.” I joked and they laughed, as did the four girls in the hoverjet.

“We're approaching England's airspace.” Adrena said and nodded to Bonnie.

Bonnie nodded back and contacted the closest air traffic controller. The Global Justice Network had already filed our flight plan, so she was only confirming our approach and landing permission. It was acknowledged and Adrena flew us over the Thames River and up to where we needed to land. It was a small park with barely enough room for the hoverjet to fit and not hit anything like a tree or building.

What followed was us assaulting the back of a monster monkey rampage and easily slaughtering them. Just the small tune-up I had given them, made the girls fast enough to dance around and avoid the lumbering gorillas and giant monkeys as they tried to attack back. They were powerful and dangerous; but, they were slow in comparison to boosted gymnasts and stunt women.

As Betty predicted, Monkey Fist showed up and started monologing about his current scheme as his minions were being put down. I allowed him to keep talking as we sparred, and recorded it all, just in case there was anything significant we needed to handle that we didn't know about.

That was when he pulled out an eight sided jade talisman with a Rooster engraved onto it. Both it and Monkey Fist started to glow and he lifted up into the air, as did several trash cans and pieces of rubble. He started cackling madly and kept talking about how he would soon have the power to take over the world, once he gathered more of them, and threw the things at me.

I was an old hand at telekinesis and easily caught or avoided them, then threw them back at him in the same way. He looked shocked and then growled like the monkey he was, threw a fit in mid-air, and started glowing brightly as he picked up debris and bricks in larger quantities to throw at me. I also avoided them and threw some back, letting him talk himself out as he explained everything his new scheme was about.

As soon as he was finished talking, he looked a little exhausted from the extended fight he thought he would end in only a couple of minutes. I ran over to him and grabbed his hand with the talisman on it, sharing his telekinetic shield, and popped him right on the chin. It knocked him ass over feet to tumble back towards one of the ruined buildings and I kept hold of the talisman.

Camilla was right where he stopped rolling and she gave him a very manic grin as she showed him her very sharp ornate knife. Monkey Fist looked horrified and opened his mouth to start yelling for help.

“Eyes away, everyone.” I said and cast a silence spell on him before I did an about-face move and saw Tara put down the last silverback gorilla. It fell from a second story roof to land with a crunch on the pavement. I wasn't squeamish and would have watched Camilla work if I didn't have the other girls to look after first. They were the priority, not dealing with a defeated supervillain.

Tara walked over to me and kept her eyes on my face. She didn't want to look behind me and stepped close to tuck her face into my chest and hugged me. I patted her back and didn't speak as Camilla retrieved the pelt, just like she said she would. She wasn't gentle about it, either.

Why was that? Harrod's had the entire front smashed in and it had been gutted by a fire that one of the mutated monkeys had set off. Camilla was angrier than anyone had any right to be, because even if everything was insured, and I was sure it was, it would be weeks or longer before the business was up and running again, which denied her a place she regularly visited for her shopping needs.

I took out my cell phone and sent the recording of Monkey Fist's ranting to Zita and Dr. Betty Director, so they could both listen to it and figure out how to handle what was said. There were many questions to be answered, especially about the talisman that was in an evidence bag on Tara's hip. Global Justice would be raiding several genetic labs in the area and would include a few raids of Lord Monty Fiske's properties and seizing many of his assets, including his mansion.

It didn't take long before Camille carried a garbage bag over to me and gave me a very smug smile. “Thanks, boss. I feel much better now.”

I nodded and started to turn and motioned to Adrena and Bonnie to join us, when a shriek came from down the street.

“WHAT DID YOU DO?” Kim Possible yelled.

I sighed and had to let Tara go to face Kim as she stood over the remains of Monkey Fist. This was not the way I wanted to introduce my team to my ex-partner, whom hadn't really caughtonto the fact we weren't partners anymore. In her mind, she still expected us to go right back to our old adventures.

“I handled a threat to the world in the best way possible.” I answered her calmly.

Kim glared at me as she pointed down at Monkey Fist's skinless body that also didn't have the hands or feet. I glanced at Camilla and she shrugged as she whispered it was a more authentic pelt with real appendages attached.

At least she didn't take the head. I thought. “You know he was more monkey than man.”

“Just because you're afraid of monkeys, that does NOT give you the right to kill him!” Kim shouted.

I sighed and felt two hands on my back next to Tara's. I glanced behind me and saw Bonnie and Adrena had joined Tara in silently supporting me. I looked back at Kim and decided that was enough. I was done with her overreacting to the wrong things and not admitting her own guilt.

“I have every right.” I said and pointed to the left. “There are six torn apart civilians right there.” I moved my hand and pointed closer to where she was. “There are fifteen teenagers crushed under that collapsed building.”

Kim's face paled as she took a step back from his corpse.

I moved my hand and pointed at the wrecked Harrod's down the street behind her. “There are over thirty bodies and twice that many injured from fire and smoke, thanks to Monkey Fist's creations.” I said and lowered my hand as I gave her a sad look. “What about them? Their families? The people that cared about them? Did they deserve to have their loved ones die, just because we left him alive again to keep killing?”

Kim looked spooked as many hiding civilians started coming out to check if the coast was clear.

“No, Kim. No one deserves to suffer and die because we couldn't made the right decision when the time came.” I told her. “Now that I'm in charge, I can make those decisions, and I did.”

Kim shook her head. “No, I... I can't believe... my Ron would never choose to become a murderer.” She said and took a fighting stance. “I'll be forced to take you down if you don't give up your evil ways.”

“That's where you're wrong, Possible.” Bonnie said and stepped out from behind me to take her own fighting stance, making Kim gasp at the sight. “Sometimes, it's not a choice between what's good and what's evil.”

Tara stepped around me as well and she braced for a fight. “It's between what's easy and what's right.”

Adrena stepped around us and braced beside Tara. “And unlike you, we're in the right.”

Camilla dropped the garbage bag and stepped up beside Bonnie and copied her stance. She didn't say anything profound or bothered trying to add to what was already said. All she did was motion towards Kim and did the classic 'come here' gesture with her hand outstretched.

“Are you really going to fight me?” Kim asked, surprised.

“Me? No.” I denied and nodded at my team. “Your replacements can take care of you.”

“R-r-replacements?” Kim asked, her voice shaky.

“My actual teammates. They call me boss as a joke, because I'm training them to be the best them they can be.” I told her and she looked shocked. “Girls? Please be gentle.”

Adrena and Bonnie smirked at Kim and cracked their knuckles. “With pleasure.” They said together, then they ran at her in a full sprint.

That really shocked Kim and she stumbled backwards as she barely avoided a high spin kick from Adrena. Kim hissed at the low kick from Bonnie as it connected to her calf and almost knocked her foot out from underneath her. She used it to push herself off-balance and did a backflip, only to land and have her legs swept out from under her by Adrena.

Kim landed with a huff of air and rolled to the side to avoid a foot stomp to her chest. She kicked out at Bonnie, whom dove over it and punched her belly, getting another 'oof' sound out of her. Bonnie rolled as she landed and spun and kicked out towards Kim's head.

Kim avoided it by flipping herself over and right into a haymaker punch from Adrena. “GAH!” She gasped and spun around from the force of it, then used that force for her own spin kick and hit Bonnie right between her breasts with the heel of her shoe.

Bonnie fell backwards and into a roll, then gasped and stayed on her knees as she hunched over and tried to get her air back. Adrena was ahead of the game and tackled Kim for a moment, to bring her to the ground near Bonnie, then she slapped Bonnie on the back and used her back as a springboard to avoid Kim's punch to the face.

Bonnie sucked in a huge breath and her face turned angry. This was bad, because she forgot all about using proper form and keeping her calm as she fought. Instead of a nice and controlled counter-punch, Bonnie's hands reached out and grabbed two handfuls of Kim's long red hair and she yelled as she lunged to her feet and turned around and yanked as hard as she could.

Kim screamed in pain as she was easily flipped over Bonnie's back by her hair and she slammed down onto her back on the pavement with a dull thud. Bonnie stood above her, with an angry face and hate in her eyes as she breathed heavily. Her hands were almost formed into claws and she looked like she wanted to claw the other girl's eyes out.

Adrena's foot whacked across Kim's forehead, knocking her out, and she put a gentle hand on Bonnie's shoulder. Bonnie's head whipped to the side and she glared at the other girl, then she saw the understanding look on her face. She calmed down and she let the tension in her fingers fade.

“You did good after being scared like that.” Adrena said and gave her shoulder a squeeze.

“I... I wasn't scared.” Bonnie managed to say.

Adrena smiled knowingly. “I've fought her before and I was scared, so it's okay.”

Bonnie sighed and looked down at the unconscious redhead at her feet.

“Camille, grab our newest cargo while the rest of us gather up the remains of the beasts.” I ordered and she walked over, patted Bonnie's other shoulder, and easily hefted Kim over her shoulder.

Someone had called the local services, which Zita confirmed was her, now that the main fighting was over. The only things we took from the area were the mutated corpses of the animals and Kim Possible, so none of the locals tried to stop us.

We walked away from the area to let the locals clean the rest of the place up. I had ordered the removal of the animal corpses so no one else had the bright idea to do something similar, and we stuffed them into the cargo space on the hoverjet. Kim was strapped into a spare flight chair and Adrena flew us back to base.

I had a lot of paperwork to handle about this incident and another agent would be sent to gather the evidence from Monkey Fist's mansion. There would also be a few questions about how Kim had managed to get there as well, especially if she hadn't been approved for active duty by either Dr. Betty Director or Dr. Mrs. Possible.

I glanced at her slumped form and sighed. Tara reached over and caressed my arm with a look of understanding on her face. This was the pivotal moment when Kim's career as a rescuer would change permanently. Would she accept that certain things needed to be done when it was necessary or would she stay stubborn and cling to her unreasonable view of what was right and what was wrong?

Instead of worrying about it, I leaned over and kissed Tara soundly to make her smile. When I smiled back, the world faded to grey and I was back in the space between worlds.

Congratulations! You succeeded in your normal mission, your secret mission, and stopping the world from plunging into eternal darkness.

Was that why you didn't tell me about any of it? I asked.

We couldn't influence you in any way, either good or bad, by giving you any preconceptions. If you knew any of the details beforehand, all of your actions would have been affected.

I thought about that and nodded. If I had known about how things would turn out, I might not have dealt with Drakken that way, or been at the house, or had the fashion show... yeah, it would have been a completely different adventure and wouldn't have ended up as it did.

Without being asked, I received the memories of a dimensional clone as he led his teammates on different missions, with them always improving, and we became known as the ultimate problem solvers. I other words, we were only called in when the final option was the only safe option.

In other words, we helped Jackie Chan track down and secure the other jade talismans to keep them out of the hands of various villains from all over the world. In fact, we brought Jade to the base to keep Lilo and Stitch company. With them at the base and under our protection, no other incidents happened to any of them.

I invented new gadgets like micro grappling hooks, stun grenades, ever-grip shoes, and every spy gadget James Bond ever saw, used, or was mentioned. I shared them with Global Justice as well and all of the agents thanked me. The laser watch was really popular, as were the different pen grenades. It made a lot of missions much easier, even for the rookie agents.

Thanks for that. I thought and could feel decades of love from Tara, Bonnie, Nani, Zita, Adrena, and even Camille. She had been a little cold about the whole full on relationship thing; but, she did love me deeply and really enjoyed experimenting with other forms as we had sex.

She especially loved changing into the various women in my life that I would never do more than flirt with, and she would giggle and laugh as she seduced me and dragged me to bed. Her favorite form, and mine as well, was Kim's mom Ann Possible. We had a lot of fun pretending to be in different situations and going at it like bunnies.

Surprisingly, I didn't regret it when Camille sent a recording of us to Ann. The gorgeous milf took it as a compliment, which it really was, and she and her husband used it as a bedroom aide all the time. They had three more children out of it, too. Two girls and a boy, the last one named Ron. I was proud to be named godfather.

Kim was forced to give up the rescue business by her mother and Dr. Betty Director, went to college with Bonnie and Tara, and graduated as a fitness instructor with a minor in coaching. She was hired as the coach for Middleton High and Mr. Barkin became the principal. He still taught as a substitute teacher and made more money than any other educator in the world.

I floated in the greyness and chose the option to go to the next world. Instead of agonizing over all the different choices I could make, I asked Fate to make the roll and didn't let my thoughts influence what it was going to be... well, besides having fun. I had decided that no matter what, I would enjoy myself wherever I went.

I closed my metaphysical eyes and listened the the wheel of fate spin, the clicking almost going on endlessly, until it suddenly slowed down and several of the last clicks sounded really loud. I didn't open my eyes to see what it landed on, because it didn't matter. I would go there, do my best, and that was that.

Good luck and have fun!

Everything went black and I smiled, because I was going to.
