Chapter 727: Chapter 727: Disappearance (3) _1

"Yes, indeed, delaying the hour would not be good for our ancestors." Jin spoke, twisting her torso to join the conversation. She held a handkerchief, pretending to wipe the corners of her eyes, but there were no tears. "We, as their descendants, have to make sure they have a good sending off."

The second family home was practical in their thinking; delaying the funeral would disadvantage their direct descendants, the Li family, potentially bringing bad luck. They didn’t want to encounter any misfortune. Having always been involved in business, they believed in feng shui and such matters more than the average person.

Secondly, of course, they wanted to dampen the spirit of the future head of the family, Li Jieyong.

Faced with so many questionable relatives, Li Jieyong had no choice but to sigh constantly in his heart.

"We must wait for the Prince." Li Yanran coldly stared at Jin, not treating her as an elder at all.

"Oh, my, Yanran, even at this time, you’re still thinking about that?" Jin exclaimed dramatically. Everyone knew exactly what the ’that’ she was referring to meant.

The expressions on the faces of Lady Mu and Marquis Li suddenly changed to distaste, and Li Yanran turned the color of a pig liver.

"The Prince has arrived." Just then, Chu Suifeng finally arrived.

The people of the Mu family and Marquis Li all breathed a sigh of relief.

The people from the second house were also pleased; regardless of what had happened, Chu Suifeng’s arrival only served to bring more honor to the Li family, as long as the hour was not delayed.

The Prince of the Mausoleum had come, but his wife had not. The sharp-eyed members of the Li family spotted immediately that Chu Suifeng had come alone.

Both Marquis Li, Lady Mu, and the inhabitants of the second house were somewhat discontented with this. Hmph, Lin Ziyin had just moved up from being a peasant woman to becoming a princess, and she was already making a show of it. It was too bad that she had initially shown a virtuous and propriety facade to the Old Madam, when in reality she was such a despicable villain.

Li Yanran was delighted to see Chu Suifeng arrive, but given the unusual circumstances, she decided against rushing forward to greet him and possibly upsetting him.

"The hour has come, time to send the Old Madam on her way." Chu Suifeng looked terrible, his eyes were red and bloodshot; it was chilling to see.

Last night, the Prince of the Mausoleum must have been up all night dealing with state affairs. Considering that despite his business, he had still come, the descendants of the Li family felt a surge of joy.

Especially when they saw the admiration in the eyes of the spectators and common people around them, their hearts filled with pride.

The mournful cries of the suonas filled the sky, and like a switch had been flicked on, the descendants of the Li family began to sob loudly. The women, comparing who could sob louder, were dressed in white mourning clothes adorned with white silk flowers. With white handkerchiefs in hand, they wiped away their tears, lamenting the Old Madam’s kindness to them, her care for the descendants of the Li family, and her great deeds.

The men, however, with reddened eyes, gritted their teeth and sobbed silently, each holding a filial staff while following behind the coffin.

Perhaps because the Old Madam truly was kind, or perhaps because of Chu Suifeng, the Ding’an Temple sent monks who all wore earth-colored robes. They beat wooden fish drums as they walked, continually chanting Buddhist scriptures.

One could confidently say, that there was no one else in Feng City whose funeral could surpass the Old Madam’s.

Snowflakes in the sky whirled around in the fierce northern wind. The paper money being thrown around, enveloped by the snowflakes, was blown everywhere by the wind. Soft-hearted commoners who watched this, thinking of Empress Dowager’s kindness and the Old Madam’s good deeds, also joined in crying along with the Li family.
