Chapter 555: 554 My Lord, if one day you no longer love me (Second Update)

Yelu Yan cared most about Li Xianyun’s feelings, still insisting relentlessly, "How could anything related to your husband be irrelevant to him?"

Li Xianyun looked at Yelu Yan, realizing that not only was this man deeply shrewd and calculating, he was also insightful into the human heart, making him a truly fearsome enemy to have.

"What is there that husband and wife can’t discuss? Must you really let your husband worry daily by guessing your thoughts?" Yelu Yan added, "Your husband is still ill."

The latter sentence was said so feebly, as if he was grievously wounded.

Yelu Yan knew Li Xianyun was tender-hearted; pretending to be weak and fragile was currently the best strategy.

As expected, after pondering for a moment, Li Xianyun finally said, "Husband, if one day you no longer love me, will you still scheme against me in this way?"

At those words, Yelu Yan’s heart seemed to stop beating, and amidst his shock, he suddenly sat up.

But because he rose too abruptly and the motion too severe, it pulled at his wound, and the pain spread fiercely, yet it didn’t stir him in the slightest. Instead, it was Li Xianyun’s words that almost claimed his life.

He was anxious, frantic, fearful, and felt as though he was facing a formidable enemy.

Yelu Yan knew he shouldn’t let Li Xianyun know too much about him.

He wouldn’t have been able to climb from a prince who was neither favored nor bullied to the position of Khan solely through his martial arts prowess and skills in battle; he also relied on being far more cunning, merciless, and ruthless than his enemies.

The more Li Xianyun knew, the more exposed his dark and venomous side would become.

Li Xianyun was so pure and kind, like a stream winding through the woods, or a ray of moonlight showering down upon the earth—a beautiful existence that often made Yelu Yan feel inferior.

This inferiority stemmed partly from his age and partly from his ruthlessness.

It wasn’t for no reason that people called him the "Dark King of Hell."

In fact, Yelu Yan hadn’t planned to tell Li Xianyun about the feigned assassination, but she was too clever, quickly discerning his intentions and forcing him into a passive position where he had to explain.

But he had still frightened her, casting doubts about his intentions, his motives, and his feelings for her.

Once the seed of doubt is planted in the heart, it will take root and grow, and Li Xianyun might as a result harbor a grudge against him.

And this was something Yelu Yan didn’t even dare to think about.

Li Xianyun was a woman he had obtained with great difficulty; how could he allow her to become estranged from him?

Such a strong reaction from Yelu Yan terrified Li Xianyun.

She instinctively shrank back, but this made Yelu Yan misinterpret her actions, thinking she was afraid of him, intending to leave him.

Yelu Yan leaned forward to steady her soft, plump shoulders, pulling her close.

Such a forceful movement betrayed no concern for his own injuries.

Li Xianyun’s eyebrows knitted lightly as she looked at his wound, saying, "Oh, be careful of your wound."

Yelu Yan couldn’t care less about that, because of his anxiety, he asked with a dry throat, "Xianxian, are you a bit afraid of your husband?"

Li Xianyun looked up at him and softly murmured an acknowledgment, "A little. I understand that those in power must be shrewd, but I’m worried..."

Yelu Yan’s heart skipped a beat; he knew he had scared her, "Worried that your husband doesn’t love you, worried that your husband will scheme against you?"

"Yes."

Yelu Yan stared unblinkingly into Li Xianyun’s clear, autumnal eyes, saying with intense emotion, "Xianxian, after all the time we’ve spent together, can’t you see your husband’s true feelings? Your husband wishes he could lay his heart bare before you—how could he not love you? Your husband loves you so much, he can’t bear to see you suffer the slightest grievance, how could he possibly bring himself to scheme against you?"

He paused for a moment, then continued, "This feigned assassination was truly just taking advantage of circumstances, not something orchestrated just so we could hold the wedding—you also know how much your husband values our wedding, how could..."

Watching Yelu Yan’s eagerness to explain, and his helpless expression fearing that she wouldn’t believe him, Li Xianyun eventually felt a pang of compassion. She laid her delicate hands upon Yelu Yan’s sturdy shoulders and leaned in to kiss him on the lips, silencing him, not allowing him to continue.

Yelu Yan first was stunned, then he seized the back of Li Xianyun’s head, taking control and kissed her back fiercely.

After a lingering kiss, Yelu Yan slightly raised his head, gazing at Li Xianyun’s delicate face and her clear, limpid eyes, "Xianxian, I truly love you, with all my heart and sincerity."

"I know."

How could she be unaware of this man’s kindness towards her? Only, she was inexplicably worried and scared just now.

Li Xianyun said, her gaze shifting from Yelu Yan’s eyes to his attractive and moist lips.

How could Yelu Yan bear such a desirous look?

Unable to resist, he bent down fiercely and captured Li Xianyun’s lips in a deep kiss.

Both were moved by emotion, their kiss growing deeper and more entwined, lasting for a long time before they finally parted.

If not for Li Xianyun’s worry that he had held her too tightly, with too much strength, and had touched his wound, struggling a bit, Yelu Yan wouldn’t have known when to stop kissing.

This man kissed her as if he could never get enough.

With her lips still glistening, Li Xianyun pushed on Yelu Yan’s shoulders, "Husband, you are injured, you should lie down properly."

But Yelu Yan didn’t want to lie down, still encircling Li Xianyun’s slender waist and strong back, "Xianxian, do you truly not doubt your husband anymore?"

Li Xianyun hummed in response, "I had a fleeting thought just now, but I also felt it was impossible. You insisted on asking."

She said while giving him an annoyed glance, "Lie down now, be good."

At last, a smile appeared on Yelu Yan’s face, and he obediently lay down, "I will be good, but don’t leave."

Li Xianyun coaxed him like a child, "Don’t worry, I won’t leave."

She spoke while covering him with the disarrayed blanket. When she was covering him up to his waist, Li Xianyun suddenly blushed.

This man had actually...

Yelu Yan saw it too and looked at her with a mischievous smile, saying, "Xianxian, it’s trapped, help your husband adjust it."

What sort of audacious words were these?

Li Xianyun’s face burned with embarrassment and she said, "No way."

As she was about to cover that provocative spot with the blanket, it was deliberately held down by a certain bad man, impossible to pull free.

Li Xianyun, flustered, stood up to leave.

But Yelu Yan pulled her back down to sit.

"Xianxian, we are husband and wife. What’s wrong with you helping a bit? You’ve helped before, haven’t you? Quick, your husband is still sick, the wound is very painful. It hurts with even a slight movement. Just indulge your husband, okay?"

It was that excuse again.

Li Xianyun had no choice but to carefully reach in to adjust it, surprised by the heat.

When she tried to pull her hand out, he kept her hand there, not letting her move it.

Li Xianyun was furious and embarrassed. If he weren’t injured, she would have certainly smacked him a few times.

Such a Deng Tuzi.

In the end, Li Xianyun pulled her delicate hand back, glancing sideways at Yelu Yan, and covered him with the blanket again, not forgetting to tuck in the corners neatly.

Yelu Yan watched her with a smile, "Xianxian, when will it be nightfall?"
