Chapter 542: 541 Why is there a nosebleed? (First update)

Yelu Yan had long realized that even if Li Xianyun did nothing, just idly staying there, she could provoke wicked thoughts in him.

Not to mention that now Li Xianyun stood gracefully like a lotus flower rising out of the water, he had already lost all composure and self-control.

Yelu Yan casually picked up a soft towel from the desk to dry his hair, propped up one leg nonchalantly, and laid the other on the bed, embodying a carefree and willful attitude.

Because of the sudden movement, Yelu Yan exposed an even larger area of his sturdy chest.

In the dim yellow light, those large swathes of wheat-colored muscles took on a wild shade, causing Li Xianyun to stare in astonishment.

She finally understood that this man was decidedly set on seducing her.

Although she had to admit she was truly tempted by him, how could one be so spineless?

Li Xianyun planned to walk straight to the dressing table to twist her hair.

Although Youlan had already dried her hair to semi-dampness, sleeping with it like this was still slightly wet.

But she had only taken one step when she suddenly felt unwell and quickly stopped.

Li Xianyun felt warm liquid gush from her nostrils, and the next moment two large drops of fresh blood heavily fell to the ground.

She was actually experiencing a nosebleed!!

Li Xianyun hurriedly pinched her nose.

Seeing the blood, Yelu Yan’s heart lurched in shock, and he grabbed the towel without bothering to put on his shoes, striding over to wipe her nosebleed.

"How come you have a nosebleed?" Yelu Yan thought of something and said, "You’ve seen your husband before and even touched me, how could you get a nosebleed from that?"

Li Xianyun knew he was fantasizing again and, still pinching her nose, she said in a muffled voice, "It’s not because I saw you... that I got this nosebleed. It’s clearly from the nourishing you’ve been giving me these past few days."

Since Yelu Yan had found Li Xianyun, he had been doting on her beyond measure.

Apart from making sure Li Xianyun was well looked after and comfortable, he also specifically ordered the Huofu Camp to send all sorts of rare delicacies her way, acting every bit the ruler blinded by infatuation.

Yet Yelu Yan didn’t see it that way.

During the days Li Xianyun was abducted, Yelu Yan suffered immensely. After finding Li Xianyun again, the moment she stepped out of his sight, he became unbearably anxious, as if possessed.

He still remembered on the way back to Shangjing from the border, they both fell asleep inside the carriage.

Li Xianyun woke up first, and it was high noon with the sun shining bright.

Li Xianyun then stepped out of the carriage, and along with Youlan, took the lead on horseback.

When Yelu Yan woke from his sleep and found Li Xianyun not beside him, he was terrified, his face paled, and trembling lips called out, "Xianxian!"

The moment the sound left his mouth, he pushed open the carriage door and jumped down without even putting on his shoes.

This frightened Bater, who was driving the carriage.

Yelu Yan immediately saw Li Xianyun approaching on horseback, still holding a half-eaten piece of beef jerky in her hand.

Yelu Yan, wearing only his socks, took big strides to meet Li Xianyun.

"Xianxian, where did you go?"

Li Xianyun waved the parchment full of butter in her hand, smiling and saying, "I got a bit hungry, so I took some beef jerky from the Huofu Camp, and brought some for you too, it’s really good."

Yelu Yan took hold of the reins and looked up at Li Xianyun, "Come down."

Li Xianyun, seeing his serious expression, thought something had happened and abruptly became solemn.

As soon as the horse steadied, Yelu Yan held Li Xianyun’s slender waist and lifted her down from the horseback.

He was naturally strong, and for Yelu Yan, Li Xianyun’s slight weight was like that of a little chick.

Li Xianyun intended to stand steadily and then leave Yelu Yan’s embrace, but Yelu Yan held her tightly in his arms instead.

In the middle of the open courtyard.

"Husband," Li Xianyun reminded out loud.

Yelu Yan still held her close, his strong arms tightening around her, his heart pounding turbulently with lingering fear.

"Xianxian, I thought I had lost you again," he said, his tone deeply emotional, his attractive voice rasping with hoarseness.

Li Xianyun spoke softly, "My lord, I will stay by your side, and we will never part again."

Yelu Yan nodded emphatically but still didn’t let go of Li Xianyun.

Only by holding her could he truly feel that she had returned.

The soldiers around them watched the scene in shock, disbelief, and awe, filled with both respect and fear towards Yelu Yan; they averted their eyes, not daring to stare any longer.

But the Khan’s unusual behaviour was etched deeply in their minds.

They could still hear the terror and despair in the Khan’s voice echoing in their ears.

The Khan had thought the princess had disappeared, and in his fright, had rushed out of the carriage without even wearing his shoes.

Was this the same decisive, effective Khan they knew? Such a loss of composure was unheard of.

Yet, since time immemorial, even heroes have found it hard to bear the suffering of no one to care about them; shocking though it was, it was still quite understandable.

All along the journey, Li Xianyun had tried to drink less of the medicinal soups meant to replenish her vitality, but she still ended up with a nosebleed from them.

Hearing this, Yelu Yan did not argue further but ordered someone to bring in some ice.

Li Xianyun voiced a reminder, "My lord, your clothes."

Yelu Yan grunted, looking down to close his gaping collar.

When Li Xianyun had not returned to her room, Yelu Yan had deliberately assumed seductive poses, deciding even how wide his neckline should be after consulting a mirror.

He wanted to give Li Xianyun a tantalizing hint of what was beneath—enough to entice her into bed.

No sooner had Yelu Yan straightened his clothes than Youlan walked in with two white cloth bags filled with ice.

At that moment, Li Xianyun sat on the bedside, complaining sweetly, "My lord, I’ve already told you that you can’t keep overnourishing me, but you just wouldn’t believe it, and look what’s happened now, you’ve made my nose bleed."

Yelu Yan leaned in with concern, guiltily admitting, "It’s all my fault."

Seeing Youlan enter, Li Xianyun pushed against Yelu Yan’s chest.

It was then that Yelu Yan stood up straight.

Li Xianyun asked Youlan to place the tray next to the table by the bed.

"My lady, are you alright?" Youlan bowed to the couple and asked with concern.

"I’m fine."

"Shall I stay and take care of you?"

How could the Khan, being so clumsy, properly take care of a delicate lady like the princess?

Furthermore, Youlan had heard Yelu Yan’s apologetic words, and knowing that the princess’s nosebleed was related to the Khan, how could she leave her mistress in his care?

"The Khan is here to look after me, you may go," Li Xianyun responded.

Youlan, left with no choice, retreated.

Yelu Yan picked up one of the white bags with ice and applied it around Li Xianyun’s nose, a method he knew would help stop the bleeding.

After a while, Li Xianyun finally took her hand away from her nose.

The bleeding had stopped.

Yelu Yan brought a basin and clean washcloth from the purifying room, dampened the washcloth, wrung it out to half-dry, and carefully wiped the blood from around Li Xianyun’s nose.

"Next time, I won’t give you such frequent supplements," he promised.

Li Xianyun sat obediently, her red lips parting lightly, "You know better now."
