Chapter 448: What are you looking at like that? (Second update)
Li Rui had people move down the chests, and when the lid of the wooden boxes were opened, they were filled with gold and silver jewelry, gemstones and jade objects, precious antiques, famous calligraphy and painting, and so on.
The family was stunned at the sight before them.
Yelu Yan was being quite generous.
Li Xianyi, always direct with her words, said, "Father, Mother, Yelu Yan seems to treat Older Sister quite well."
If he didn’t care for a woman, why would he go through so much effort to please her family?
Not only had Yelu Yan sent an escort for Sheng Heng’s return, he had also sent such valuable gifts; every move he made seemed faultless.
However, relying solely on Sheng Heng’s words was indeed biased.
Li Rui, Qiu Qianyun, and Li Xianyi all felt somewhat swayed, while only Li Shaojun remained stubborn in his views.
"Father, Mother, do not be blinded by these things," he said.
Li Rui responded, "It’s too early to say anything now. Yelu Yan has invited us to the Khitan for the wedding banquet, haven’t he? We will know then how he treats Xianxian."
Hearing this, Li Shaojun could only hold his peace.
He couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, thinking that a person as adept at political intrigue as Yelu Yan really knew how to win people over.
One moment, the whole family was rejecting Yelu Yan because of Sheng Heng’s reaction, and the next, they were adopting a wait-and-see attitude toward him because of the letter he wrote and the actions he took.
-
As Li Xianyun drifted between sleep and wakefulness, she felt a warm touch on her cheek, along with a slightly ticklish sensation.
She slowly opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was Yelu Yan’s handsome face, close at hand.
He was kissing her cheek.
Seeing Li Xianyun awake, Yelu Yan, with his broad body leaning on the bed, lifted his hand to gently stroke the hair from her forehead. He gazed at her intently, his lips curved in a smile, "Xianxian, do you know what time it is? Are you still asleep?"
Li Xianyun looked toward the distant window.
Outside, the daylight had faded, and the sky was dark, resembling either dawn or dusk.
There was a sense of disorientation, as if the world was shrouded in darkness, and she didn’t know whether it was today or tomorrow.
Li Xianyun stretched her tender arms straight out, comfortably stretching her body, before turning over to lie on Yelu Yan’s strong chest.
"Husband, is it morning or evening?" she asked.
"Evening," Yelu Yan said, giving her bottom a light pat, "You really are muddled from sleep."
Li Xianyun chuckled in his embrace.
Yelu Yan bent down to kiss her hair and cheek, "Are you hungry? Let’s have dinner."
Li Xianyun wriggled a little in his arms and said in a sweet voice, "I’m not hungry, just a little thirsty."
Yelu Yan raised his hand and playfully tapped her nose, saying softly, "I will pour you a glass of water."
Li Xianyun made a sound of agreement but remained lazily nestled in Yelu Yan’s embrace, not wanting to move.
Yelu Yan caressed her back and said, "If you don’t get up, how can I go pour water?"
Reluctantly, Li Xianyun lay flat on the bed and pouted, "If I can’t be held, fine. I won’t ever hold you again."
Being spoiled by Yelu Yan, her little temper came out of nowhere.
With three thousand strands of hair spread on the pillow, Li Xianyun’s delicate face looked even more fair and tender.
"It’s not that you can’t be held. I would rather you cling to me every day and never get down. It’s just that I need to pour water, so I asked you to get up," Yelu Yan reasoned.
After deeply kissing her lips a few times, Yelu Yan got up to pour water from the table.
Li Xianyun had to get up from the bed and drank the water from Yelu Yan’s hand.
Yelu Yan watched her swallow and for some reason, his thoughts began to wander.
Li Xianyun, realizing her lips were wet, extended the tip of her tongue to lick them.
It was an ordinary action, but it was too much for him to bear.
Setting the water glass carelessly on the table, he turned and pressed Li Xianyun back onto the bed, looking down at the woman beneath him.
In the dim light, Yelu Yan’s eyes shone with desire, intense and overwhelming.
Li Xianyun instantly felt intimidated; when Yelu Yan became fierce, it was truly daunting.
"Husband, aren’t we supposed to have dinner?"
As Li Xianyun said this, intending to get up, a large hand pushed her back down.
Yelu Yan looked at her intently, a smile on his lips. "If you’re not hungry, then satisfy my cravings."
"Husband, I misspoke. I’m hungry, so very hungry."
"Too late," Yelu Yan said with a cheerful grin.
As he spoke, he firmly sealed off her lips, a soft "umph" escaping from her throat.
After an indeterminate amount of time, Li Xianyun felt a sudden chill on her chest as someone began to pull at her clothing.
Li Xianyun quickly opened her mouth in protest, "Husband, it’s not right."
"I have just bathed and changed clothes, I’m not dirty," he replied.
Today he had been on a killing spree in the hunting grounds, his body stained with plenty of blood and mud.
Fearing that Li Xianyun would be disgusted by him, Yelu Yan didn’t meet anyone until after he had bathed.
Li Xianyun hesitated for a moment before releasing her hand, and Yelu Yan became even more unrestrained.
After a long time, Yelu Yan suddenly withdrew and got out of bed, standing on the ground with his back to her.
Li Xianyun slowly brought her legs together and pulled the quilt over her body, feeling as though she had been crushed—so exhausted.
She scolded Yelu Yan thoroughly in her mind.
Yelu Yan was truly inhuman, both frenzied and frightening when he lost control; on several occasions, Li Xianyun felt she was about to pass out.
She didn’t know when it started, but Yelu Yan had become increasingly indulgent in that regard, seemingly tireless.
Li Xianyun looked outside the window lattice; the sky had turned pitch black.
When Yelu Yan was about to order the maid to bring hot water, Li Xianyun stopped him, "My lord, a quick wipe is enough, I need to bathe later anyway, why the extra trouble?"
"Alright."
Yelu Yan said and took a soft towel to clean Li Xianyun briefly, then took out clean clothes from the wardrobe and walked over to the bed.
"Are you alright?" Yelu Yan asked with a meaningful smile.
Li Xianyun instantly understood the implication in his words and said irritably, "Not good."
"Next time, your husband will be gentler."
Li Xianyun gave him a sidelong glance, "You always say that, but when have you ever managed to do it?"
"Who can resist when you are so enticing? It would be a sin to waste such a delicious morsel."
"Slick talker."
Yelu Yan leaned down to pick up Li Xianyun and helped her into her undergarment.
"Xianxian, have you written to your Father Emperor and Mother Empress yet?"
"Not yet."
Yelu Yan’s hands, as he was dressing her, stopped, and he looked up at her before continuing to help her into her outer garment.
Seeing this, Li Xianyun smiled and asked, "What’s the matter?"
Yelu Yan tied up the sash of her garment, and lifted his gaze to fix it on her, serious and focused.
Having seen him act inappropriately so often, this sudden seriousness was quite disconcerting.
"Why are you staring at someone like that?" Li Xianyun asked in a coy voice.
"Xianxian, do you not want your Father Emperor and Mother Empress to come?"
"Not at all. I just haven’t gotten around to writing yet."
So that was it, Yelu Yan’s heart settled, understanding it wasn’t because she despised his roughness that she didn’t want him to meet her family.
Yelu Yan took out the panties and skirt to dress Li Xianyun.
Once the two were tidied up, they went to the main hall for a meal together.

Ji Xueyuan’s crimes were made known to the entire world.
He not only gathered a faction with intentions of rebellion but also secretly sold official positions and titles, extorted wealth, pocketing public funds for his own gain.
What was more shocking was that, as a veteran minister of three dynasties and the only non-Khitan prince, he had been a spy for Houliang planted within Khitan for many years.
Many details about the Khitan were passed on through him.
Back when the former Khan Yelu Zhang was still alive, Khitan faced recurring defeats in battles against Houliang, bringing disgrace to the might of the Khitan cavalry.
Yelu Zhang then sent Yelu Yan to lead the troops personally.
The first thing Yelu Yan did was to seal off intelligence, and wherever the Flame Army went, the enemy was crushed, achieving ten victories in ten battles.
Yelu Yan was indeed the war god of the Khitan.
He had suspected then that there were traitors in the military and the Imperial Court.
Over these years, he had rooted out many spies, yet he never imagined that the biggest traitor was hidden right under his nose.
Indeed, the darkest place is under the candlestick.
For the crime of treason, Ji Xueyuan was executed; all men of the Nanwang Mansion were put to death without question, while women were reduced to slavery.
Ji Chuchu, already on her way to exile, naturally could not escape.
That night, a lone rider cut through the stillness of the night.
In the separate palace.
The person came straight to Princess Jinyu’s window and asked in a low voice, "Princess, are you asleep?"
"Speak."
Princess Jinyu couldn’t sleep, as she had been waiting for news all along.
