Chapter 410: Who are you calling old, huh? (Chapter 1)
Yelu Yan laughed, "They’re not worthy of it yet."
Shulu Xi, who was in his study dealing with official matters, suddenly sneezed and raised his hand to rub his nose. Who was thinking about him again?
At the same time, Ma Zhaoming, who was inspecting the Border Market, also sneezed and cursed under his breath, "Damn it."
Li Xianyun took out all the items from the bundle and arranged them neatly.
While she was tidying up, Yelu Yan watched her intently, his deep eyes filled with fascination.
Li Xianyun’s figure was exceptionally graceful; every part of her seemed to be crafted to his aesthetic preference, every move she made tugged at one’s heartstrings.
When she closed the cabinet door, Yelu Yan embraced her from behind, burying his handsome face in her neck and greedily inhaling her fragrance.
"Are you done tidying up? Can we rest now?" he asked.
Li Xianyun’s delicate body tensed, her legs going weak. This man was relentless in his pursuits, and considering she had just relieved him, he couldn’t possibly want to...
...be like a stallion.
Feeling the change in her body, Yelu Yan laughed against her smooth skin, "Xianxian, are you letting your thoughts wander again?"
"Certainly not," Li Xianyun retorted stubbornly.
"Don’t worry, as your husband, I know moderation. I won’t overwork the land," Yelu Yan said slyly, his warm breath caressing her sensitive neck.
Li Xianyun felt a numbing sensation spread from her neck to her back and down to her lower back.
The flirtatious words of a certain someone were like a hand teasing her sensitive spots.
"You’re so improper," Li Xianyun chided softly.
Yelu Yan was stunned; his woman indeed had a rebellious streak and daredevil courage in her.
Knowing he wouldn’t touch her today, she dared to provoke him without fear.
Yelu Yan placed his hand on Li Xianyun’s backside, squeezing lightly, "Who are you calling old, hmm?"
Laughing as she tried to evade him, Li Xianyun said, "My lord, I was wrong."
"Too late."
Having said that, Yelu Yan hoisted Li Xianyun onto his shoulder and didn’t miss the opportunity to give her buttocks a couple of playful pats, "If you’re looking for trouble, you’ll have to go through some hardship."
Li Xianyun instantly regretted provoking the tiger.
However, she wasn’t afraid; Yelu Yan was very easy to coax.
Yelu Yan, holding her head carefully, put her on the bed and leaned over with an evil smile, propping his hands on either side of her, ready to claim her lips.
Li Xianyun raised her hands to caress Yelu Yan’s cheeks, her watery eyes looked up at him sweetly, "My lord, I’m so sleepy, don’t you feel sorry for me? Hmm?"
"It was you who said your lord was old. I must prove my strength and that I’m fit for service," he insisted.
Yelu Yan’s dark eyes seemed ablaze with fire, as if they could burn someone alive.
"Fit for service," such brazen words, he certainly knew how to say them.
Li Xianyun’s voice was sweet and soft as she smiled, "Can’t I take back what I said just now?"
"What if you call your lord old again?" Yelu Yan said while kissing her small, white hand.
Li Xianyun withdrew her hand, "If there’s a next time, you can spank me."
"Not sincere enough," Yelu Yan murmured, gently sucking on her tender lips.
Li Xianyun didn’t dare provoke him further and turned her head away with a laugh, "Then what do you think we should do?"
Yelu Yan kissed her cheek and earlobe, his warm breath burning her, "Let your lord have his fill."
Li Xianyun’s face instantly flushed red, and she bit her lip.
Hadn’t she already indulged him enough? This man was truly insatiable.
"Do you agree?"
Li Xianyun softly "hmmed" in agreement.
Yelu Yan planted a heavy kiss on her cheek and then flipped over to lie heavily on the side of the bed, pressing down on it like a mountain.
It was yet another day where she feared the bed would collapse beneath him.
Yelu Yan wrapped Li Xianyun in his arms and left a kiss atop her head.
"Xianxian, once the hunt is over, I’ll take you to the hot springs at West Mountain. The hot spring pools there are enormous, and you can float in them. Do you know how to float? If not, I can teach you," he said.
Li Xianyun found a comfortable position in his embrace, closed her eyes, and said, "Okay."
As a child, she had grown up in a village, where a lake outside the village supported many fishermen’s lives; all the children in the village knew how to float, and Li Xianyun was no exception.
The next morning, as dawn broke, Yelu Yan got up and went to the martial practice ground next to the main building to practice his swordsmanship.
There stood two archery targets and a long row of iron racks fixed with various weapons.
Since the age of five, Yelu Yan had made it a habit to practice for an hour every morning.
Through all these years, whether it was windy or rainy, he had hardly ever skipped a day.
The only times he did not practice were when he needed to accompany Li Xianyun.
"To die beneath a peony flower would be to be a ghost, entwined in romance," Yelu Yan had finally grasped the charm of it.
After practicing the sword, Yelu Yan personally went to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to select a few thoughtful gifts.
For Li Rui, he prepared fine writing materials; for Qiu Qianyun and Li Xianyi, he chose precious jewelry and cosmetics; and for Li Shaojun, he found a weapon that was worth its weight in gold.
When Yelu Yan returned to the inner chamber with the gifts, he discovered that Li Xianyun was already up, writing letters in the Warm Pavilion.
Yelu Yan stopped outside the Warm Pavilion, not entering. What if Li Xianyun didn’t want him to see the contents of her letters?
He didn’t want to upset her, nor did he dare to.
Hearing a noise, Li Xianyun lifted her head and saw Yelu Yan standing tall, looking at her with a smile.
Yelu Yan teased with a laugh, "Rare to see you up early."
Li Xianyun snorted lightly, "It’s all because of your pampering, isn’t it?"
"I just love to pamper you," chuckled Yelu Yan. "Come and see, I’ve prepared some gifts for your father, mother, and your brothers and sisters. Take a look and see if they’re suitable."
Li Xianyun was momentarily startled; he remembered, despite being so busy with his official duties.
With a smile, Li Xianyun folded the letter, rose, and walked out gracefully.
Yelu Yan wrapped his arm around her and said quietly to the door, "Come in."
Seven or eight maids came in carrying trays, and one of the maids lifted the brocade covering from the top of a tray.
Li Xianyun stepped forward to inspect it, and it was evident that the selections were made with great care—her smile deepened.
"I personally chose them at the Ministry of Internal Affairs," said Yelu Yan with a smile. "I’m not sure if they’re appropriate."
"They are suitable, but there’s too much, especially these pieces of jewelry—they’re too valuable. I’m concerned that Sheng Heng will run into bandits on his way back," she said.
The journey from Khitan to Chang’an was long and passed through desolate and treacherous terrain.
It’s said that rough mountains breed crafty people; had she not known how to use poison during her journey to affiliate with Khitan, she might have been robbed and never have arrived in Shangjing so smoothly.
Embracing her shoulders, Yelu Yan looked down at her and said, "Don’t worry, I’ll have someone escort him back."
He didn’t want any harm to come to Sheng Heng on the road, because then Li Xianyun would feel even more guilty towards him.
He wouldn’t allow Li Xianyun to be preoccupied with another man in her heart.
"Very good," Li Xianyun said with a smile.
Yelu Yan rubbed the top of her head, "I’ll try to finish my official duties as soon as possible, then leave the palace to look for you, and we can see Sheng Heng off together."
"Okay."
After having breakfast with Li Xianyun, Yelu Yan went to attend the morning court session.
Once Li Xianyun finished writing the letters and packed up the items to be taken to Prince Li’s Mansion, she picked out some refreshments. With too many responsibilities at Xuanyi Pavilion, she couldn’t leave, so she sent a palace attendant to deliver them to Yaduo, Yuchi Qian, and the Queen Mother.
