Chapter 380: 379 Angry and Ignoring People (Second Update)
Indeed, upon hearing her words, Yelu Yan finally let go of the exquisite beauty, kissing his way up to her neck, cheeks, and lips.
The kisses weren’t lingered upon much; they were light and quickly withdrawn.
"Husband will light the lamps," he said.
"Mhm."
Yelu Yan got out of bed, removed the cover of the lantern, struck the fire steel, blew on it to ignite the wick.
The room was instantly illuminated.
Li Xianyun, clutching the quilt to herself, searched the bed for her own and Yelu Yan’s clothing.
As Li Xianyun was putting on her undershirt, she noticed something unusual—there were many red marks on her chest.
This man really went too far.
After lighting several lanterns, Yelu Yan turned around to see Li Xianyun clutching the quilt, looking at him with a hint of grievance.
As if he had committed an unforgivable crime.
Yelu Yan approached with a smile, wrapped his slender iron arm around her and looked down, "What’s wrong? Hm?"
Li Xianyun pulled the quilt down, covering her skin and showing him, "Look at what you’ve done."
The snowy skin was covered with pink peach blossoms, beautiful yet somewhat pitiable to behold.
Yelu Yan raised his hand as if to touch them.
Li Xianyun turned her back to him, revealing a swath of her sleek, beautiful back, its curves enticing.
Yelu Yan kissed her back.
Tickled, Li Xianyun squirmed, turned to push him away, and her delicate body trembled.
Yelu Yan maintained a smile, "Next time, I’ll be gentler. If you feel unsatisfied, leave some marks on my body too."
Li Xianyun snorted, "You wish."
Fearing she would catch cold, Yelu Yan picked up the undershirt, a smile on his lips, "Let your husband dress you."
"I can dress myself."
Yelu Yan said with a mischievous grin, "Not going to listen, hm?"
The threat in his tone was palpable.
Li Xianyun averted her gaze, reluctantly letting the quilt down, her pale, round flesh a temptation to the eye.
When sitting up, her form was even more pronounced than when lying down.
Yelu Yan swallowed, the beast within stirred restlessly.
But he endured, for he couldn’t let his woman go hungry.
Gently, Yelu Yan dressed her in the undershirt, overcoat, underpants, and skirt.
Li Xianyun sat at the edge of the bed, watching as Yelu Yan crouched down to put on her socks.
"Husband, you’ll spoil me rotten," she said.
Yelu Yan glanced at her, lifted her delicate white foot, kissed the top of it, and smiled, "That’s exactly what your husband intends to do."
To make you never be able to live without your husband.
The latter half of the sentence, Yelu Yan kept unspoken in his heart.
After dressing, they helped each other to tidy up.
Yelu Yan carried Li Xianyun in his arms out of the inner chamber and into the main hall where they would dine.
It was pitch-dark outside, the night air cool and refreshing, with no stars or moon in sight; lanterns swayed gently in the wind, causing the light and shadows to dance along.
Li Xianyun knew that Yelu Yan wouldn’t be happy without meat, so she prepared braised lamb ribs, roast beef, and big plate chicken, accompanied by five light side dishes.
Yelu Yan looked at Li Xianyun and smiled, "Did you make them all?"
"Mhm."
"Let’s have a taste."
Yelu Yan tried every dish and praised each one, "Delicious."
His attitude was sincere, not flippant at all.
"Eat more," she encouraged.
Li Xianyun picked up some light side dishes with her chopsticks and began eating.
Yelu Yan served Li Xianyun with lots of vegetables and meat, "You eat more, too."
Li Xianyun thought of something and said, "Husband, haven’t you been eating your lunch properly these past few days?"
Yelu Yan, always engrossed in government affairs to the point of neglecting sleep and food, had prompted the Chief of the Hall of Diligent Governance to report this to Li Xianyun, hoping she could exert some influence.
Yelu Yan paused, "Don’t listen to their nonsense. As you advised, I have been eating well."
Li Xianyun glanced at him and remained silent, choosing instead to lower her head and eat.
Seeing this, Yelu Yan gathered his expression and swallowed the food in his mouth. He wiped the corner of his mouth with a soft cloth, moved closer to her, and said with a sheepish smile, "I know I was wrong. I will eat properly next time, all right?"
His tone was tender, with a hint of cajoling.
Li Xianyun continued to ignore him and didn’t even look his way as she reached for the soft cloth.
Yelu Yan hurriedly handed it to her, still trying to appease her with a smile.
Li Xianyun still ignored him.
Yelu Yan sighed inwardly. Li Xianyun at her angriest was the most daunting, ignoring others, enough to drive a person mad.
He sat up straight and stretched out his finger, "I swear..."
Before he could utter his oath, Li Xianyun hissed, glancing at him with slightly furrowed brows.
She disliked ill-omened words; only with such tactics would she deign to pay him attention.
Yelu Yan said with a smile, "I mean what I say this time. If you don’t believe it, ask the Chief of the Hall of Diligent Governance to supervise me."
As soon as Li Xianyun spoke, Yelu Yan knew who had been speaking out of turn to her.
The Chief had been with him since childhood; although he was quite afraid of him, he had gained favor with Yaduo. Fearing that he did not take good care of himself, Yaduo always assigned the Chief to supervise from the sidelines.
That the Chief dared to speak out of turn in front of Li Xianyun left no question that Yaduo had urged him to do so, knowing that Yelu Yan listened to Li Xianyun the most.
Li Xianyun bowed her head to eat, revealing a long stretch of her pale slender neck.
Yelu Yan rubbed the top of her hair, "I’m talking to you, did you hear?"
Li Xianyun hummed a response, cold and indifferent.
Yelu Yan couldn’t stand that reaction and directly pulled her into his embrace.
Li Xianyun struggled, "Let me down."
With a smile in his voice, Yelu Yan said, "If you forgive me, I’ll let you down."
"Rogue."
"I’m only a rogue with you."
She really had no temper left to display because of him.
"Make sure you eat properly, do you understand?" Li Xianyun rubbed his face.
"Understood."
Yelu Yan truly wanted to say, if she would eat properly, he would do so as well.
But he dared not speak, fearing it would irritate her again and she would ignore him.
-
In the middle of the night, the sky was dark as ink, so dark one couldn’t see their own fingers.
Within the Houtang Imperial Palace, two shadows flitted across the splendid buildings and, unnoticed by any, slipped into the Yanfei Palace.
The next morning, Aluo, as usual with her eyes downcast and demure, walked into the inner chamber of the Yanfei Palace. Standing by the door, she respectfully asked, "Your Highness, shall this servant help you dress?"
There was no response for a long time, so Aluo asked again. Still, no one answered.
Gathering her courage, she looked up and her pupils dilated. Her face contorted in shock as she screamed, "The Princess has passed away!!"
The Chief in charge of the Yanfei Palace ran in, his legs turning to jelly from fright.
Li Yumin lay murdered in her bed, in a lying position, her hair tousled, eyes wide open with bloodshot veins, lips turned purple, and a long slash visible on her neck, the crimson blood spreading over the bed and floor.
The Chief hurried toward the Shuangluan Hall.
Meanwhile, Li Mu was embracing Qin Rou in his sleep.
The Chief announced at the door, "Your Majesty, something terrible has happened. The Ninth Princess has been murdered!!"
Awakened by the noise, Li Mu frowned and got up from the bed, barefoot and hastily dressed, he rushed out.
Qin Rou sat up from the bed, looking outside. Hearing the news, her heart felt a secret joy, but her face was etched with sorrow.
Li Mu asked quietly, "What did you say?"
The Chief reported what he had seen that morning. Li Mu moved toward the Yanfei Palace but realized he was still wearing his nightwear.
Just then, Qin Rou handed over his clothes, her face a picture of mournful glory, "Your Majesty, please hurry."
