Chapter 260: 260 You Wish (First Update)

Li Xianyun sat in Yelu Yan’s embrace, nibbling on pastries; he was truly tall and, sitting on his lap, her two small feet dangled above the ground.

She swung her little feet and looked at Yelu Yan, "Husband, where are you taking me?"

Yelu Yan lifted his hand to gently flick her soft earlobe, his lips curving into a smile, "You’ll know once we get there."

As long as Li Xianyun was with him, he was always smiling, his deep tiger eyes always tender.

Li Xianyun let out a soft "hmph," "What place is so special that you have to keep it a secret?"

"If you don’t like it, you can bite me."

"Wishful thinking," Li Xianyun said playfully, popping the last bit of pastry into her mouth.

Yelu Yan took a leather water pouch and handed it to her after opening it.

Li Xianyun tilted her head back to take a few sips, and when her gaze dropped down, she met a pair of profound tiger eyes.

Yelu Yan watched her with a smile, the heat in his eyes seemingly capable of melting the winter’s ice and snow.

Li Xianyun turned her head away, not looking at him, and placed the capped water pouch back on the table.

His gaze always made her shy and flustered.

Whenever their affection ran deep, Li Xianyun would reach up to cover his eyes.

She didn’t want Yelu Yan to see her emotionally stirred state, her feelings and voice out of control, surely it was embarrassing.

But Yelu Yan would not have it, removing her small hand and pinning it to the bed, his voice husky, "I want to see you."

At times like this, Li Xianyun could only turn her head aside, her pearly white teeth biting her rosy lips.

Yet, someone still wouldn’t give in, insisting on kissing her tenderly and having his way with her.

Thinking of their intimate moments in bed, Li Xianyun couldn’t help but blush and was even less willing to turn her head back.

Yelu Yan wrapped an arm around her small head, planting a kiss on her delicate cheek, and gently squeezed her smooth chin, making her turn back.

Their gazes intertwined.

Yelu Yan gazed at her, his smile beaming, "Why are you blushing? Is it because you were thinking of something?"

This man always had a knack for reading people’s hearts.

Li Xianyun replied with a laugh, "Not at all, you’ve seen wrong."

"Not at all?"

"Not at all," Li Xianyun repeated with a smile.

"Is that so?"

Li Xianyun extended her arms to embrace Yelu Yan’s sturdy neck, burying her little face in his warm neck and feeling his pulsing heartbeat, "Yes."

Cuddling the softness in his arms, Yelu Yan couldn’t help but laugh heartily.

Li Xianyun slapped Yelu Yan’s shoulder lightly, "Keep your voice down, people outside will hear."

Yelu Yan kissed her neck and chuckled, "It’s just laughter, not any other kind of sound."

This man was becoming shamelessly bolder with his words.

Li Xianyun let out a small "hmph," now realizing that she had been fooled earlier; Yelu Yan was far from restrained and discreet.

The carriage creaked forward and, after about half an hour, Jinwu said respectfully from outside, "Master, we have arrived."

Li Xianyun stepped down from the carriage with Yelu Yan’s assistance, looking in astonishment at the scene before her.

Many men were busy constructing houses and courtyards, identical to the blueprints Li Xianyun had given to Yelu Yan.

Quite a few buildings were already erected, and the outline of a new residential area was taking shape.

Houses were arranged in rows of four, each with its own small yard at the front and back; the streets were wide and even.

Yelu Yan led Li Xianyun by the hand, strolling down the spacious street, stopping now and then to peek inside the buildings. The courtyards were expansive, with each house containing three large rooms and a smaller one, all made of sturdy brick.

The front yard was large, the back small, and the soil in the courtyards had been flattened and tidied.

Further along the street were unfinished houses, where men were busily building.

At that moment, a guard approached Jinwu and said something to him.

With a grave expression, Jinwu approached Yelu Yan and respectfully bowed, "My lord, the Hidden Guard has an urgent report."

Li Xianyun looked at Yelu Yan, "My husband, go ahead with your work; I will look around with the others."

Yelu Yan squeezed Li Xianyun’s hand gently, "Your husband will see what’s happened and return shortly."

Li Xianyun hummed in acknowledgement, slipping her hand out of his rough palm and walked on with Zhuo Ma and the others.

Yelu Yan stood still as the Hidden Guard quickly came forward to report.

Yelu Yan asked indifferently, "What has happened?"

The Hidden Guard replied respectfully, "To report to the Khan, Murong Ce ascended the throne today."

Yelu Yan looked toward Li Xianyun’s delicate figure. He had exposed Murong Ce’s scandals, causing public outrage within Houliang, and for Murong Ce to have taken the throne, he must have used ruthless methods.

Parricide and fratricide were well within his means.

Yelu Yan instructed the Hidden Guard in a low voice, "Keep this matter quiet for the time being; do not let the princess know."

Such a significant event couldn’t be hidden forever, but if they could hide it for one day, they would.

As Li Xianyun observed the men building the courtyard walls, she noticed one using a stick to draw a line, a method prone to inaccuracy and complication.

She had a better way, but if she were to assert her ideas abruptly, surely no one would listen.

While she was contemplating her approach, she spotted a familiar figure surveying the housing with officials from the prefecture.

One official commented, "Such residences save on materials and are tidy and orderly, making them easy to manage. We should build more of these in Tianshui County in the future."

"Great Sir Ma, from whom did you procure the skilled individual who designed these blueprints?"

Ma Zhaoming answered enigmatically, "Just focus on your own tasks; leave the rest to us."

Truthfully, he had no idea who had designed the blueprints.

Yelu Yan had simply provided the blueprints and ordered him to commence construction without further explanation.

Ma Zhaoming was equally curious about the designer, but he knew Yelu Yan was always tight-lipped, and if he didn’t wish to share, nobody could coax a word out of him.

As the group continued their inspection, a pleasant voice called out, "Great Sir Ma."

Looking toward the source, they saw a strikingly beautiful figure standing at the street corner.

Indeed, strikingly beautiful.

Such beauty was not common in men, yet he was evidently dressed in men’s attire.

Behind him stood two slight and handsome men and another burly one, their delicate appearance contrasting sharply with the robust guard.

Ma Zhaoming had seen Li Xianyun from a distance before and knew of her beauty. He had heard about her cunning, how she had bewitched Ayan into utter infatuation.

He had never thought Yelu Yan would ever get involved with a woman, yet in just a few short days, the princess from Houtang who had come for the marriage alliance had ensnared his soul.

Ayan treasured her like a prized possession; once diligent in state affairs, now he couldn’t wait for the sun to set before hurrying back to the residence.

Whenever Ma Zhaoming broached the subject, he felt a pang of resentment.

He had come from Shangjing to Tianshui County to govern the Border Market for a while, and in the past, the two of them would have enjoyed a drink together. But now, Ayan spent his days with his lady, leaving no opportunity for shared drinks—truly a case of forsaking friends for love.
