Chapter 1215: 594 Overwhelming Aura! (Two in One)_2 Chapter 1215: 594 Overwhelming Aura! (Two in One)_2 “What’s the matter?” Gu Jiao asked.

Little Jingkong turned over and lay on the bedchamber, his small finger pointing at Gu Jiao’s waist: “Jiaojiao, you have a flower here too!”

Gu Jiao, dressed in a short jacket and sleeping robes, hadn’t paid much attention to the corner of her robes that had flipped up, revealing her slender, snow-white waist.

She couldn’t see the spot at her waist.

She gave an “oh” and asked, “Is it a big flower?”

“Mmm… this big!” Little Jingkong used his fingers to gesture the size.

Quite small, just about the size of a knuckle.

It must be a birthmark.

Did her tiny frame have so many birthmarks?

Little Jingkong pointed at her waist curiously and asked, “But why is this flower not red? It’s green!”

He liked red flowers.

But if it was on Jiaojiao, then a green one wasn’t too bad either!

Since Gu Jiao couldn’t see it for herself, and even if she could, she wouldn’t care. She had even come to terms with the birthmark on her face so why would she care about something on her back that she couldn’t see?

Gu Jiao tousled the little one’s head: “Your hair has grown a little longer, soon you can have a little knot tied, sleep now, early to bed and early to rise makes you grow tall.”

“Mm!”

This time, Little Jingkong closed his eyes, rolled around on the bed a few times, and truly fell asleep.

Xiao Hen entered, glancing at the small bulge underneath Gu Jiao’s covers, he asked, “Is he asleep?”

“He is,” Gu Jiao said.

“Then I’ll take him back,” Xiao Hen said, and as if worried that Gu Jiao might misunderstand, he explained, “There are classes at the Guozijian tomorrow, the road is too congested early in the morning, it’s too late to go from here.”

Gu Jiao closed the musical score: “Okay.”

Xiao Hen scooped the sleeping little one from under the covers, dressed him, and the little one didn’t even wake despite being moved around.

Xiao Hen chuckled as he poked the little one’s chubby cheeks and then turned to Gu Jiao, “Remember to take your medicine later, I’ll come back after I’ve taken him home.”

Gu Jiao once again assented calmly, “Okay.”

Xiao Hen carried the little one out to the courtyard and handed him to Liao Quan: “Take Jingkong home.”

“Ah, yes.” Liao Quan thought to himself, weren’t you going to personally take Jingkong back? Why the sudden change of plans?

Xiao Hen arranged for a Dragon Shadow Guard to accompany Liao Quan along with Gu Yan’s secret protector, so their trip should be practically foolproof.

After Liao Quan got into the carriage with Little Jingkong, he noticed Xiao Hen entering another carriage and asked, puzzled, “It’s so late, are you going out, Sixth Master?”

Xiao Hen said, “There’s some business at the Ministry of Justice, I need to go there.”

Oh, no wonder he couldn’t personally take Little Jingkong, it was because duty called.

Liao Quan took Little Jingkong and left.

Xiao Hen told the coachman, “Let’s go.”

“Yes!”

The streets were silent.

But Xiao Hen’s carriage wasn’t heading towards the Ministry of Justice, instead, it was headed straight for City East.

The coachman driving for him was a secret guard from the Princess Residence.

The vigilance of the secret guards was much higher than that of ordinary people. As they turned onto another deserted street, the secret guard’s ears twitched suddenly: “Master Xiao, someone is following us!”

Xiao Hen ordered firmly, “Don’t stop, keep moving! Speed up!”

“Yes!” The secret guard tightened the reins and whipped the horse, which winced in pain and began to gallop swiftly through the dark night.

In the carriage, Xiao Hen’s expression became alert.

“Not good, Master! People are closing in from both the north and south sides too! And there aren’t few of them! We’re about to be surrounded!” the secret guard announced.

Xiao Hen clenched his fists: “Break through!”

The secret guard gritted his teeth: “Yes!”

Now, only the path ahead was unblocked. The secret guard pushed the carriage to its limits, relying on the first-rate Ferghana horses provided by Princess Xinyang which were beyond reproach in terms of warfare.

“Turn left!” Xiao Hen commanded.

The secret guard yanked hard on the reins, steering the carriage down a left-hand alley.

The moment they entered the alley, two groups of horsemen charged down both ends of the original street. If they hadn’t entered the alley, their path would have been blocked.

“Turn right!” Xiao Hen commanded.

“Make a U-turn!”

“Break through!”

“Turn left!”

With his knowledge of the Capital City’s layout, Xiao Hen just managed to evade three rounds of pursuers.

But in the end, luck wasn’t enough against an absolute siege, and ultimately, he had to admit defeat.

Not long after entering the suburb, Xiao Hen’s carriage was besieged on an isolated road.

On either side of the road there were ridges, ahead lay a canyon, and behind them stretched vast open land. The canyon and open land were already swarming with pursuers, and unless Xiao Hen decided to run across the fields—which would’ve been futile anyway—there was no escape.
