Chapter 496: Chapter 496 - Robert, What Is Going On?
"Okay, if you say so," Aria finally agreed. Sabrina released a breath she didn’t know she was holding.
Keeping a secret was harder than she thought. A few minutes later, Giselle descended the stairs. Her face was covered with enough makeup to hide all the sullenness from before.
Robert was glad that she took great care of her appearance. Her morning look had disturbed him greatly.
"You look fantastic," Robert said and went to take her handbag before leading her by hand out of the house. Giselle was shocked that he took her handbag and began to wonder what was going on.
Was Robert giving her the love she always craved after she had gotten pregnant for another man? Giselle tasted bitterness in her mouth.
Aria could only fear for her daughter’s poor heart, knowing that she would come back crying even harder.
She called Sabrina on her phone again. "Can he stop being so nice to her? She will only feel guilty."
Sabrina smiled from the other side of the line. It was good that Aria could not see it, but Sabrina also hoped that Robert would handle things well.
"Just allow nature to take its course."
Aria shook her head, not willing to accept it. Robert had always been nice to Giselle, but this was extreme.
"Why wasn’t he like this to her before, and why wasn’t he with her at the party? That pregnancy would not have happened."
Sabrina almost laughed, wondering how Aria would feel when she finds out that Giselle was carrying Robert’s child.
"You worry too much, Aria. If Robert wants to marry Giselle, not even her being pregnant for another man would stop him. Whatever happened between Giselle and the stranger was purely an accident, and I believe that he would understand that," Sabrina said soothingly, but it only made Aria suspicious.
The only reason why Robert would want to marry Giselle when she was carrying another man’s child was one, and Aria hoped that Sabrina hadn’t gone back on her promise.
"Oh, Sabrina, is there something going on that you aren’t telling me?"
Sabrina let out a frustrated sigh. This was becoming too much for her; she feared disappointing her husband.
"Aria, get something to eat and have a good rest, okay? As for now, please leave Giselle and Robert to sort out whatever they feel for each other."
Aria thought deeply about Sabrina’s words, certain that the cat had been let out of the bag. "Wait, did you tell him?"
"You never permitted me, so why should I?" Sabrina asked from the end of the line. Aria sighed with relief. Perhaps things were not as bad as she thought.
"Okay. If he has naturally fallen in love with her, then I hope that something good comes out before it’s too late."
Sabrina smiled. "Keep hope alive, my dear friend."
In the car, Giselle was nervous; it was so glaring. "Hey, don’t be afraid of me. I don’t bite," Robert said jokingly, but it only heightened her discomfort, as she felt as if she was speaking to a completely different person.
"You are behaving strangely."
"How strange?" Robert glanced at her before returning his gaze to the road. Though he was nervous, as he hadn’t done anything like this before, it didn’t show in his countenance.
"You are my boss. You shouldn’t be picking me up from home." Aria was calm, but a turmoil was going on in her heart.
Robert was behaving as if they were in a relationship, but that was not the case. She had no idea that what he felt for her was even stronger than what she felt for him.
"What if I want things to change between us?" He asked with a smile, and looking at his side profile, Giselle felt her breath caught up in her throat.
He was so good-looking, and she tried hard to stop fantasizing over him, but this time, it seemed to be an impossible task.
"I don’t understand," she said absentmindedly. Robert forced a smile. She confessed to Passion Fruit that she was in love with her boss, but Robert wasn’t seeing it in her reaction.
However she managed to have a grip on herself was emotionally intelligent, Robert was impressed. If she had not confessed it through those chats, he never would have suspected it.
"Let’s get to the office first," he said, and Giselle did not refuse. Robert drove in a comfortable silence until they reached the underground parking lot.
Pulling over, he went around and opened the door for her. All this was so new to Giselle, and she felt nervous.
"What’s going on here?" Giselle asked when they entered Robert’s office. There was a table for two with a bouquet of roses at the center of the table.
The aroma of her favorite delicacies wafted through her nose, and she instantly felt both hungry and afraid.
Robert took her hand, led her to the table, and pulled a chair for her. "I told you that I arranged breakfast for you."
Giselle could not control her thumping heart and blushing cheeks. How could life be so cruel to her? Why did Robert have to ask Aliya out that day?
If she hadn’t seen them together, she wouldn’t have gotten so drunk, and things would have been perfect between them. A tear fell from her eyes, and she quickly wiped it with her finger as she thought, what if he proposed to her?
"But this looks romantic."
Robert smiled and sat on the chair in front of her. He might be busy, but he would take time every day to spoil the woman he loved.
"Is there anything wrong with that? I ordered all your favorites."
Giselle could not take it. It was too late for anything to happen between them, so her hopes were already crushed.
"I won’t have time to eat them. We have a meeting." She was about to stand up when Robert revealed, to her shock,
"I already rescheduled them."
Giselle’s lips parted from shock, but they soon closed as she gulped. "Robert, what is going on?"
