Chapter 653: Chapter 459: One Bright, One Dark_2
Wu the Taoist said: "I don’t have any issue with joining the Golden Academy as an honorary professor, but I do have some conditions."
"What conditions? Mr. Wu, please speak freely," Sun Boxiu replied.
Wu the Taoist said: "I require a complete miracle. If Dean Sun can agree to this, I will join the Golden Academy immediately. In the future, should external enemies invade, I will commit wholeheartedly to defending."
"No problem."
Sun Boxiu gritted his teeth and agreed without hesitation. "However, a complete miracle requires approval from above. Considering Mr. Wu’s strength and contributions today, obtaining a complete miracle should be no issue. However, this will take about a month or less, so I ask for Mr. Wu’s patience."
He considered it a worthwhile exchange to grant one complete miracle and secure a top-tier expert.
The issue was that complete miracles were strategic-level resources. Even though he was the vice-dean, he only had the authority to utilize one, but the particular complete miracle—the Dragon Scale—had been taken by an Immortal Cultivator and was now in Li Yi’s possession.
He certainly couldn’t approach Li Yi to demand it back, so he would need to apply for another one.
"A month? That’s not too long. I can wait," Wu the Taoist nodded.
Sun Boxiu was both surprised and delighted. He hadn’t expected Wu Yong to be so agreeable. Indeed, Earthlings are kind-hearted and don’t take advantage of their compatriots.
Wu the Taoist decided to join the Golden Academy so he could openly assist Li Yi, infiltrate the upper echelons, gain access to complete miracles, and gather more cross-world information. Besides, having revealed his strength today, concealment was no longer possible.
However, with Xuan Yuezi and Cang Erzi operating covertly, his preparations were sufficient.
While they were still negotiating, Li Yi had already breached a giant flying boat. This flying boat was protected by formations, impervious even to high-energy beam cannons from the Sixth World. Inside were many Immortal Cultivators providing spiritual power to sustain the defensive formations.
But such a defensive formation was useless against him. With one strike from the Xuanhuang Seal, a massive gap was instantly smashed open.
"Li Yi, Li Yi is here!"
Panic-stricken voices echoed throughout the flying boat; clearly, they recognized him.
After all, today’s chaos was instigated by Li Yi. Every Immortal Cultivator hated him to the core, and should the people of Xuanxian Continent seek revenge in the future, Li Yi would undoubtedly be high on their list.
"Spare us! We are merely Qi Refining Realm servants and attendants. The events here have nothing to do with us. Debts and grievances have their rightful owners; if you want vengeance, head to the great sects of Xuanxian Continent. Why trouble us low-level cultivators?" someone begged for mercy.
"Can’t beat me, so you beg to live? Where in the world could things be so convenient? You people once flaunted your power without restraint. Besides, the people of Xuanxian Continent are destined to become enemies of Earth. Let you go now, and who will spare us in the future?"
Li Yi’s killing intent did not waver. Tormented by these Immortal Cultivators for far too long, he felt nothing but disgust upon seeing them. Therefore, without hesitation, he activated his Daoist Skills and wielded the Wind Summoning Technique.
A fierce wind surged, seeping through every corner, and instantly transformed into a blazing inferno, incinerating everyone in its path.
Screams erupted nonstop within the flying boat.
Some, unable to withstand the Heart Fire Qi, tried to flee the boat and escape the carnage. Yet they had barely gotten far before spontaneously combusting, their flaming bodies falling from the sky, eventually blown into fine ash by the wind.
However, one powerful figure charged through the flames, toward Li Yi with a roar.
This was a Nascent Soul cultivator hidden within the flying boat, disguised as being in the Qi Refining Realm. Realizing he had no chance of escape, he launched a desperate attack, aiming to kill Li Yi and secure a path to survival.
The Nascent Soul cultivator’s strength and foundation were undeniably remarkable. Equipped with a defensive treasure, imbued with mana, he managed to burst forth from the sea of flames and withstand the Wind Summoning Technique, closing in on Li Yi.
"I’ll deliver you to the afterlife."
With a wild roar, the Nascent Soul cultivator unleashed all his power, a pitch-black arrow-like spell flying directly at Li Yi.
Such a sudden assault could have succeeded under normal circumstances.
But having clashed with Immortal Cultivators before, Li Yi was well aware of their treacherous nature and never let his guard down, giving no room for ambushes.
As the attack approached, talismans descended in front of Li Yi, radiating boundless light like a celestial barrier separating them.
Bang!
The pitch-black arrow spell shattered against the talismans with a deafening explosion. Bathed in boundless light, the Nascent Soul cultivator’s treasure instantly dimmed, and he collapsed to the ground as if weighed down by countless mountains, unable to move.
Were it not for his treasure’s desperate defense, this single blow would have spelled his end.
"Damn it! Li Yi, all you have is a powerful magic treasure," the Nascent Soul cultivator roared in frustration after his failed attack.
He now understood Chongxu Daoist’s helplessness.
With such a magic treasure in Li Yi’s possession, it was both offensive and defensive. Nascent Soul cultivators stood no chance, even if equipped with low-grade treasures.
It wasn’t skill but the overwhelming power of the treasure.
Defeat felt utterly humiliating.
What the Nascent Soul cultivator never considered was that without his defensive treasure, he wouldn’t even have reached Li Yi. The Heart Fire Qi’s sea of flames alone was enough to consume him.
"Your treasure cannot compare to mine. You failed to schemingly kill me? And now you blame me? Truly absurd. You Immortal Cultivators have the thickest skins," Li Yi said coldly. "Stop barking like a dog and accept your fate."
He unleashed another surge of power from the Xuanhuang Seal.
The Nascent Soul cultivator’s defensive treasure, along with the entire flying boat, was shattered into fragments. Without his treasure’s protection, he was immediately consumed by the sea of flames, left powerless to resist, and perished amidst horrific screams.
Li Yi didn’t even bother to salvage the cultivator’s treasure or storage spirit devices.
Dealing with such sinister and dangerous Nascent Soul cultivators required utmost caution. Greed for minor gains mustn’t lead to acts of mercy, lest it result in devastating consequences.
Having dealt with the flying boat, he scanned his surroundings, finding no remaining enemies.
Even the sounds of cannon fire in the skies had nearly ceased.
It seemed that this wave of Immortal Cultivators had been nearly eradicated, and their superiors appeared to have abandoned any plans to rescue them—no cross-world reinforcements had arrived from beginning to end.
In this sense, Xuan Yuezi and Cang Erzi’s preparations proved unnecessary.
"In terms of courage, the Immortal Cultivators of Xuanxian Continent are no match for the Martial Artists of the Four Seas and Eight Continents. Despite having such deep foundations, they shrink away after suffering minor setbacks, choosing to withdraw entirely," Li Yi thought to himself.
Still, perhaps this was for the best.
After annihilating these enemies, he might gain a period of relative peace, affording everyone the time to cultivate and strengthen themselves.
