Chapter 632: Chapter 449 Kui Dragon Snake
Above the shattered city, cosmic energy was influenced by an immense force, surging wildly.
Three masters who had once reached the Tri-Floral Realm inhaled and exhaled deeply, using Earth’s abundant cosmic energy to restore their cultivation. Not only did they require spiritual energy, but numerous Dao Artifacts also demanded nourishment from spiritual energy. The amount of cosmic energy consumed by these artifacts was immense, rivaling the breathing techniques of a Tri-Floral Realm master.
In addition to this, Li Yi took out a large cache of Magic Artifacts, which also needed to be nurtured.
Under these circumstances, the nearby cosmic energy was being depleted to the point where it could hardly keep up with the demand. Fortunately, as the strength of Cang Erzi, Xuan Yuezi, and Wu the Taoist gradually recovered, the range of their absorption of Heaven and Earth Qi expanded—from 100 miles at first to nearly 300 miles now.
The cosmic energy spanning 300 miles was incomparably vast, yet the three still didn’t absorb all the spiritual energy available. They picked and chose carefully, discarding any contaminated spiritual energy and only keeping the pure essence for themselves.
This inevitably led to a significant waste of spiritual energy.
However, such large-scale consumption of cosmic energy easily attracted the attention of powerful beings.
At the edge of the shattered city, the ground suddenly began to tremble, as if something was rising from beneath the soil. The area of upheaval grew larger with time, and from a distance, it looked as though a hill had abruptly emerged. This hill stretched nearly ten kilometers long, winding and twisting, coiling around one corner of the city.
Suddenly.
Along with the collapse of several abandoned skyscrapers, an oppressive aura abruptly appeared in the devastated city. A massive creature lifted its body and revealed its head. Golden vertical pupils glinted coldly as it stared at Cang Erzi and Xuan Yuezi in the sky, radiating a chilling killing intent.
This creature resembled a giant serpent but had reverse scales on its head and two gleaming horns. The horns emitted rings of light, and wind and lightning coiled around its body with each breath. Simply shifting its body caused the surroundings to erupt into wind-blown debris, lightning flashes, and thunderous roars.
The immense body carried this wind-and-thunder force wherever it moved, effortlessly destroying the city with unparalleled devastation, beyond anyone’s restraint.
As this creature awoke, Li Yi, who was within the city, immediately sensed it. His expression shifted, and a cloud of auspicious light appeared beneath his feet, lifting him into the air. Beside him, Good Wings also grew restless, emitting cries of unease.
When Li Yi ascended into the sky and looked toward the source of the looming threat, he saw a creature, thicker and taller than skyscrapers, emerging from the corner of the city. It stirred wind and lightning while its cold golden vertical pupils observed every movement in their direction. The beast’s massive body swayed nearby, appearing ready to attack at any moment.
"What is that? A mythical creature?" Li Yi’s expression instantly shifted.
"A Great Demon, quite extraordinary, with a trace of dragon lineage. Wherever it passes, wind and thunder follow. I hadn’t expected to encounter something like this on my first day in this realm. Taiyi, your world is indeed far from peaceful. Then again, in a place as abundant in spiritual energy as this, how could there be no formidable foes?"
Cang Erzi, the old Taoist, also took notice of the creature. Having regained some of his peak demeanor, he now looked youthful despite his white hair, like an immortal with a noble bearing.
"No wonder this city was built so grandly yet has no inhabitants. Turns out it’s been occupied by a Great Demon. Did we wake it up earlier when we were absorbing Heaven and Earth spiritual energy?"
Xuan Yuezi narrowed her eyes slightly, staring at the giant serpent with twin horns on its head, locking gazes with the creature.
Though Xuan Yuezi had a diminutive frame, she exuded Dragon and Tiger Energy. Her mere movements evoked dragon roars and tiger howls, intimidating the creature greatly.
Wu the Taoist stepped on five-colored energy and rose into the air, saying, "Since the Great Demon is wreaking havoc here, it must be slain. Its twin horns will serve me well in repairing the Heaven and Earth Furnace, and its flesh and blood can be refined into elixirs. Also, wouldn’t it be timely for Elder Cang Erzi to test the Red Jade Trigram Furnace?"
With much of his strength restored, Wu the Taoist no longer acted timidly. He now displayed the demeanor of a true powerhouse, casually declaring his intent to slay the creature.
"My Heavenly Dao Sect’s Heavenly Dao Map also needs repairs. Its dragon scales and reverse scales would be ideal," Xuan Yuezi said. "In that case, I’ll subdue it to show Taiyi the Heavenly Dao Sect’s Dragon-Subduing and Tiger-Suppressing Skill."
With that, the Mana Flower shimmering above her head bloomed brilliantly. An astonishing surge of mana shot into the sky, stirring the wind and clouds. The ten streams of spiritual energy that had been gathered earlier and transformed into True Dragons were instantly devoured by this surge of mana. Shortly afterward, a deafening dragon roar reverberated across the land, and an even more ferocious and sinister giant dragon materialized.
"Kill!"
Xuan Yuezi raised her hand and pointed, shouting sharply.
The colossal dragon moved on auspicious clouds with astonishing speed, resembling a dragon-shaped treasure sword slashing down from the sky. The devastating strike could easily destroy a city and shake the foundations of the land for hundreds of miles. And this was merely one manifestation of True Dragon Mana. At her peak, Xuan Yuezi had been able to summon the strength of nine dragons and ten tigers.
Without such formidable power, how could she have become one of the Seven Immortals of the Heavenly Dao Sect?
The True Dragon transformed into a sword and slashed at the Great Demon.
This serpent-like creature with twin horns, trailing wind and thunder in its wake, was no ordinary being. It was an authentic mythical creature. In the archives of the Golden Academy, it was named Kui Dragon Snake. Its strength was terrifying; upon arriving on Earth, it had decimated an entire city. So far, no Evolver had been strong enough to defeat it. The only option had been to retreat completely and abandon this territory, allowing this mythical creature to claim it as its dwelling.
