Chapter 525 - 375: Young Jiao

Chapter 525: Chapter 375: Young Jiao

Li Yi had no idea where the elder named Nanshan Bo had gone. He didn’t give chase, and certainly didn’t dare to help him up.

He squatted near the kitchen gnawing on the chunk of Jiao dragon meat.

After eating his fill, Li Yi began circulating his Qi-Blood to digest the essence of the Jiao dragon meat as quickly as possible. Once mostly digested, he bit into another piece, and so forth, until he finished the entire piece. His muscles shimmered with silver light, and he felt a surge of overwhelming Qi-Blood vitality and seemingly inexhaustible energy coursing through his body.

Moreover, the Jiao dragon meat seemed to have a miraculous medicinal effect, feeling as if his body’s major tendons were nourished, stretching, growing, and strengthening.

"No wonder they talk about Dragon Veins and Tiger Bones. It seems that Jiao dragon meat can nourish the tendons. Besides, the flesh and blood of an eight hundred-year-old Jiao dragon is truly a rare and powerful medicine. If I could bring some back for my master and the others to share, it would certainly rebuild our physical strength and help us reach the pinnacle of Martial Arts again," Li Yi thought to himself. He also wanted to bring back some good things to show his respect to his mentor.

It was just that the price of this Jiao dragon was eight hundred gold, which he could not afford. He could only sneak a few bites here.

But then, Li Yi suddenly recalled something.

At the store in the market selling the Jiao dragon, besides the eight hundred-year-old elder Jiao, there was also a younger one, which he might be able to afford.

After that, he rubbed the piece of gold in his hand.

A piece of gold was worth a hundred gold coins.

Buying that younger Jiao shouldn’t be an issue, and if really necessary, he could add some mutant fruit.

With that thought, Li Yi quickly got into action. Having eaten his fill, he left the kitchen and headed outside of the estate. The servants who saw him simply bowed their heads to make way, neither stopping him nor asking questions, allowing him to leave with ease.

However, outside the door, Warrior Qi, who had seen Li Yi earlier, respectfully saluted and asked, "May I ask where our honored guest is heading?"

"I’m going to the slave market to buy something," Li Yi replied without concealing the truth.

"Would you like Qi to accompany you?" Warrior Qi inquired.

Li Yi thought for a moment. Considering the vastness of Beihuang City, it wasn’t very safe to be alone, so he nodded, "Alright, I’ll be in your care then."

Warrior Qi told his companion a word and then followed Li Yi out the door.

Li Yi had a good memory. He quickly found his way back to the slave market, and without difficulty, located the store that sold mutant beasts, but to his disappointment, he did not see the younger Jiao. Instead, other unknown mutant beasts were kept in the cages, which also looked extraordinary.

"Merchant Master, has the young Jiao been sold already?" he asked directly.

The Merchant Master approached and said, "It turns out you are yesterday’s Merchant Master. That young Jiao lost its mother, refused to live meagerly, and when no one was watching, it maimed itself. Though not dead, it is now damaged and not presentable. I planned to cook it tonight and eat it. If you’re interested, I can have someone fetch it for you."

Li Yi replied, "I am interested."

The Merchant Master was pleased and immediately ordered his servants to bring the young Jiao out.

Very soon.

A burly man with an iron cage on his back walked out of the shop. The cage contained a young Jiao, not large in size, with a mutilated body full of bite marks, its flesh blurred and injured, its skin broken, and its tendons damaged, which greatly reduced its value and made it difficult to sell openly.

Looking at the dying young Jiao, Li Yi knew it would not survive, so he intended to buy it to cook and eat. He asked, "Merchant Master, how much for this?"

After a moment’s thought, the Merchant Master immediately answered, "Fifty gold, what do you think?"

Fifty gold was half of a piece of gold, which was within Li Yi’s budget. Without bargaining, he handed over the piece of gold, simply stating, "I’ll buy it."

The Merchant Master took the piece of gold and couldn’t stop smiling. He then instructed the servants to pull the young Jiao out of the cage.

Warrior Qi stepped forward to take the young Jiao into his hands at the sight.

The Merchant Master also handed Li Yi five coins as change, which were not made of gold but a cyan-hued bronze that also flickered mysteriously.

This was cyan gold, each piece worth ten gold.

Li Yi roughly understood the currency system of this world, and after taking the five coins, he and Warrior Qi left.

But just after stepping out of the market, Li Yi did not wish to return to Xiu Xiang’s residence. He said to Warrior Qi, "Qi, I have other matters and must leave Beihuang City. Please convey my farewell to Xiu Xiang for me, and thank him for his hospitality. When I visit Beihuang City again, I will certainly call on him to express my gratitude for his kindness."

"Sir, where are you going? Do you need me to accompany you?" Warrior Qi asked.

Li Yi replied, "I’m going on a journey. I’m enough on my own. Thank you for your protection on this trip. I have nothing much to give you, but please accept these remaining fifty gold, and I hope you won’t find it too little."

With that, he took the bound young Jiao from Qi’s hands and handed over the five coins before heading toward the outskirts of Beihuang City.

Warrior Qi did not follow this time but wished Li Yi a safe journey and then returned alone, ready to report this matter to the Merchant Master.

However, Li Yi had already left the city without any intention to linger.

Once outside Beihuang City, he sped off in the direction he had come from. When he was sure no one was around, he immediately released the Thunder War Machine from his Magic Artifact and boarded it, flying swiftly toward Shoushan Village.

Watching Beihuang City fade into the distance, Li Yi, sitting in the cockpit, finally let out a sigh of relief.

This world was full of strong individuals, and its streets were no place for him at this time. His presence there was like walking on thin ice, worrying not just about provoking powerful enemies but also about revealing his identity and attracting malice. Leaving hastily was necessary, as any trouble would likely make escape difficult.

"It’s just a pity that I couldn’t rescue Jiang Mingtian and the others," Li Yi felt a twinge of regret, but he was powerless to do more. He could only hope that Xiu Xiang would help him.

But once he became stronger, he would return here.

The Thunder War Machine was fast, breaking the sound barrier and still accelerating. In less than two minutes, it had reached the skies above Shoushan Village. However, the villagers below were unaware of the war machine flying overhead, still immersed in the grief of losing the High Priest and their strongest warriors.

After identifying the direction, Li Yi directed the Thunder War Machine towards the dense forest outside the valley.

Very soon.

As the fighter jet landed, Li Yi returned to the place that had been attacked before. He looked around, only to see that out of the six high-energy beam cannons, only two remained intact. The others had been destroyed. However, the energy sources were not damaged - it seemed that Ju Jiao and his group had retreated in such a hurry that they didn’t have time to deal with the aftermath.

After putting away his belongings into the storage Magic Artifact, Li Yi heard a familiar cry.

A Good Wings flew over from not far away, landing right in front of him, while a towering noise came from the nearby woods. A mutant beast, looking like a wild ox, crashed through tumultuously, its excited roar also reaching Li Yi’s side.

"Good, you’re both unharmed," Li Yi rejoiced in his heart.

This return trip had allowed him to subdue two mutant beasts, which could be said to greatly enhance his strength. Moreover, having awakened the divine bloodline, he saw boundless potential in his future. Despite the perilous situation, it had paid off handsomely.

"Let’s head deep into the forest and leave this place," Li Yi said as he vaulted onto Niu Niu’s back and pointed in a direction with his hand.

Niu Niu started to run, its hooves clattering, breaking through the trees and blazing a trail without the slightest hesitation.

Good Wings cried out and followed in the air.

As they advanced, the nearby trees began to change. These changes were subtle and difficult to notice, but Li Yi knew that they were crossing worlds and leaving the Barbaric World. The forest of this Barbaric World and the deep, dangerous woods on Earth were merging, making the environments indistinguishable from each other and hard to differentiate.

Once you walk out of the dense forest, you would find yourself in another world entirely.

Initially, Li Yi and his group had crossed worlds just like this, inadvertently encountering the attack of the warriors from Shoushan Village.

After progressing for a while, Niu Niu suddenly stopped, snorted hard, and stared at an ancient tree ahead.

A large serpent with wings coiled around the ancient tree was hissing, tense and frantic.

"It’s the same plumed serpent from before," Li Yi recognized the creature. When he and Jiang Mingtian’s group had first arrived, they had been worried about getting poisoned, so they spared the serpent. Now it seemed that Li Yi’s judgement was correct - this plumed serpent was most likely a mutant species that came from the Barbaric World, with extraordinary strength.

If he had been insistent on taking action at that time, it is likely all of them would have died peacefully.

The plumed serpent, capable of poisoning the soul, caused even the much stronger Niu Niu to hesitate, indicating that if Niu Niu were to be bitten, it would most likely be fatal.

However, at this moment.

Good Wings came swooping in with astonishing speed, creating a dozen afterimages nearly instantly, reaching the serpent in the blink of an eye before fiercely pecking down.

The serpent, as if meeting its nemesis, did not even have time to react before its head was smashed by a strike, falling limp and dead on the spot.

"Good Wings really is the nemesis of the plumed serpent," Li Yi muttered to himself upon seeing this.

Then, he thought of something and approached cautiously, collecting the serpent’s fangs and soaking them in a glass bottle.

As the venom flowed out of the fangs, the clear water in the glass bottle turned a deep green.

With the plumed serpent’s venom being so domineering, Li Yi thought he could later use it to poison the Fei Mu Needles, compensating for their lack of killing power.

"Not bad, another card up my sleeve."

He carefully stored away the plumed serpent’s poison and then rewarded Good Wings with the serpent’s corpse.

Li Yi dared not touch the body of such a venomous creature.

Good Wings, however, was not afraid of this poison. It picked up the serpent’s body, swallowed it down in a few gulps, and ate it clean.

After resolving the matter with the plumed serpent, Li Yi continued to ride on Niu Niu, galloping through the dense forest.

Although Niu Niu acted recklessly, it was more alert than anyone when it came to danger, stopping immediately to prepare for what may come.

If Niu Niu did not stop, it meant there was no danger nearby, or that the danger posed no threat to it, unworthy of stopping for.

As Li Yi left,

In Beihuai City,

Xiu Xiang’s eyes widened in surprise when he heard Warrior Qi’s report, "What? Da Yi has left?"

He instantly felt that the "Life Book of Changes" he was holding lost its appeal.

The guest of honor, a great talent and a rare commodity that he had keenly recognized and invited, had left without saying goodbye after just one day?

"Where did he go? I will search for him," Xiu Xiang said, anxious to leave, but he was stopped by Nan Shan Bo.

Nan Shan Bo said, "Doesn’t the Merchant Master understand? Da Yi doesn’t wish to become the Merchant Master’s guest, nor does he want to accept your favors, hence the departing without goodbye. Moreover, as Qi said, Da Yi went to the market again, showing his heart is still with his lost companions. His leaving also suggests he intends to find his companions. If the Merchant Master retrieves him, I’m afraid it may backfire and come across unfavorably."

"Then what should I do?" Xiu Xiang asked anxiously.

Nan Shan Bo replied, "If the Merchant Master finds his friends, Da Yi will surely return."

"That makes sense," Xiu Xiang thought it over and nodded repeatedly.

If his friends are found, how could Da Yi not come back?

Yet what he regretted was that if Da Yi intended to leave, he should have mentioned it, and he, in turn, would have presented Kunwu’s Artifact, a hundred gold ingots, and battle servants to assist him on his journey.

"Damn it, I was so engrossed in watching the ’Chronicles of the Great Desolation’ that I neglected Da Yi," Xiu Xiang lamented, clutching the scroll as he looked to the sky, beating his chest and feet in frustration, weeping.
