Chapter 440: Chapter 312: Astral Projection
Li Yi currently harbored thoughts of selling Life Extending Pills, perhaps using them to amass a fortune in a short period, and then buying some very important resources to increase his strength.
However, he still didn’t know the exact value of Life Extending Pills within Golden Academy, so he decided not to sell them yet until he fully understood their worth.
This matter couldn’t be rushed.
But as Li Yi glanced at the only storage pouch in Golden Academy, another idea sprang to mind. After some thought, he decided to send a message: I have a Life Extending Pill that can increase one’s lifespan by a hundred years, contact me if interested in a trade.
Though unsure of its usefulness, he thought it best to try.
After completing this task, Li Yi put down his tablet, stopped exploring the academy’s marketplace, and returned to his room to begin meditating and healing injuries while cultivating.
As Li Yi performed the White Bone Temple Cultivation Skill,
Cosmic energy continually gathered around him, unspoiled and copious. In just moments, a faint halo of light enveloped him, growing brighter over time, eventually becoming as luminous as the moon, casting him in a celestial light akin to a Buddha.
In such conditions, Li Yi felt every cell in his body jubilant, his body seemed to evolve rapidly again.
At this moment, Li Yi realized the importance of the environment.
Cultivating in such a place elevated the potential of one’s body, reigniting one’s latent abilities. If one absorbed cosmic energy fast enough, the speed of cultivation could skyrocket.
It’s no wonder those with high Cultivation Values were specially recruited.
If an ordinary person’s Cultivation Value increased by one thousand percent, they might reach the Spiritual Realm in just a month or two upon entering the Golden Academy, surpassing years of others’ cultivation.
Under these circumstances, the Incomplete Coin Li Yi possessed also benefited.
Nurtured by abundant cosmic energy, the damaged Coin now emitted a faint greenish glow, resembling a piece of exquisite jade.
Such occurrences had only happened twice before.
Once was when Li Yi first approached the nearly intact Bone Mural, and now.
It revealed that in times of sparse cosmic energy, the damaged Coin would become dormant, even negligible—but when the cosmic energy was sufficient, the magical aspects of the Coin manifested, although Li Yi was surprised that in such a strong energy field, the Coin only emitted a faint glow.
This meant the Incomplete Coin was still in a regressive, dormant state, requiring stronger cosmic energy to further awaken.
According to this deduction,
When the Coin was intact, it was a fearsome oddity—no wonder Li Yi could carve a niche into the Bone Mural with just a flick of the Coin, damaging the artifact.
"The remnant soul within the Coin wants me to find the missing half; if I can complete it, I might possess a top-tier complete oddity. But that said, if the complete Coin was exceptionally powerful, why did it split in two?" Li Yi pondered.
What kind of strike could sever such a Coin?
Could the Fei Mu Needle do it?
With this thought, Li Yi opened his eyes, took out both the Coin and the vial containing the Fei Mu Needle, a clever idea popping into his mind.
What would happen if he collided the Coin with the Fei Mu Needle?
Which would prove superior, the Coin or the Fei Mu Needle?
But as he entertained this thought, suddenly, the remnant consciousness in the Coin, sensing Li Yi’s frivolous and dangerous idea, promptly said, "Young man, don’t entertain strange thoughts; it isn’t time to probe the secrets of the Coin. The Fei Mu Needle is a precious treasure, do you really want to destroy it?"
"Do you think the Coin can sever the Fei Mu Needle?" Li Yi, snapping back to reality, asked.
"How could I know, but likely they would mutually damage each other. You need the Fei Mu Needle for greater purposes; how else could you, with your potential, compete with those so-called geniuses?" the remnant consciousness in the Coin replied.
"That makes sense," Li Yi said. "You mentioned the Fei Mu Needle could be refined into the eye to master a Great Method; do you know about this? How about we make a deal? I’ll give you another Resurrection Pill, and you teach me that method?"
"Your realm is too low, you can’t learn it. According to the Cultivation Methods of Earth Prisoners, you’d need to reach the Spirit Power Realm to master that Great Method. Of course, if someone is willing to help you refine the Fei Mu Needle into your eye, you could barely manage it at the Soul Realm, but for now... I advise you to behave."
"Spirit Power Realm? Good grief, what if you’re dead by then?" Li Yi asked.
"You’re quite the talker, it gladdens me," the remnant consciousness in the Coin said. "Your performance this time has disappointed me greatly; an evil Earth Prisoner remains alive, and you only killed what, a gene warrior? That doesn’t count."
"However, I can teach you a minor object-manipulation spell. Although a minor spell, it forms the basis for many Great Methods. Once you master this spell, you can manipulate objects to kill your enemies. Oh, I almost forgot, you’re merely at the Spiritual Realm without Mana, you can’t learn the spell. Ah, what a waste."
"...." Li Yi.
"If I can’t learn it, then why mention it? Think you’re funny?"
"There’s a shortcut; now that you’ve condensed your Divine Soul, you can use your soul’s power to control the Fei Mu Needle, activating its might, giving you an extra means of protection." Suddenly, the remnant consciousness in the Coin added.
Li Yi immediately became interested: "How should I do it?"
"Is that an attitude of earnestly seeking guidance?" the remnant consciousness in the Coin responded.
"I’ve always had this attitude, and you must understand, you give me benefits, I provide you Resurrection Pills to extend your life, which means you’re saving your own life with your knowledge. I, bearing no grudges, am willing to help you. You ought to be grateful towards me," Li Yi said.
"It seems... there’s some sense in that," the thought from Incomplete Coin pondered.
"So, you should adopt a better attitude, you should be begging me to learn those useless tricks of yours, that way you would have a chance to survive, understand?" Li Yi said.
"I understand slightly."
"Good, so in the future, don’t cherish your spells and knowledge as treasures. You’re almost out of life; what use are they? For a dying person, even a wealth of money can’t be spent and money unspent is like waste paper. You need to learn to let go and not be obsessed with external things every day, just like a miser holding onto his wealth."
"Besides, everyone has to die one day. Looking back at your evil life, it would be quite sad if you left nothing behind. If you are willing to pass on everything you know to me, at least I will remember from time to time that there was such a Demon, who had reformed and suddenly became enlightened, helping me reach the peak."
"..." the thought from Incomplete Coin.
"Alright, enough with your soul-soothing talk; I will teach you the unique method of Soul Manipulation, but this time I want two Resurrection Pills."
"Deal."
Li Yi did not refuse and immediately agreed.
He felt that the thought from Incomplete Coin had followed him to world number 36 for a while and its soul had significantly weakened from staying too long. If not refreshed, it probably would not last much longer, but this time this thought had clearly smartened up a bit.
Knowing its own imminent death, carrying some things into the coffin was meaningless, so it was willing to trade with Li Yi.
It seems verbal persuasions are still useful.
"With your current condition, you should be able to perform soul-out-of-body. If it’s just a brief departure from the body to stroll around nearby, there won’t be any harm. To learn object manipulation, you first need to let your soul touch the Fei Mu Needle, then let it sever a part of the soul’s power to attach to it..." said the thought from Incomplete Coin.
"I’ll try."
Li Yi closed his eyes to meditate, releasing his mind. In his consciousness, a miniature person, identical to himself, was now sitting on a Lotus Platform, hands forming a Treasure Seal, looking serene and divine.
This was the soul formed through the practice of the White Bone Temple.
But after consuming the Nine-Turned Divine Soul Pill, his soul had become much stronger.
"Out-of-body."
Li Yi relinquished his physical body; his intention reverted to the soul, which then broke free from the shell, taking a decisive step.
The soul leaped out from above his head.
At this moment, the world changed.
In the perspective of the soul, all scenery had altered; things seemed almost non-existent, yet not, and the invisible cosmic energy was vividly visible. Everything around was colorful, and he felt an immense sense of relief and joy.
It felt like breaking free from shackles, escaping the mundane, and returning to the true self.
He even wanted to control his soul, to ride the wind to attain ultimate freedom and peace.
"The physical body is a shackle, the mortal world is mud, the soul is fundamental. I suddenly feel an impulse to ascend and leave," Li Yi’s soul wandered inside the cultivation house. He looked up; the roof’s structure could not block the soul’s sight. He saw through everything and found a space gap.
Lights were emerging there, seemingly a channel to ascendance, attracting the soul forward.
He realized that going there meant the soul would cross into another realm.
But before he could feel much longer, Li Yi felt a part of his soul’s power beginning to dissipate.
"If you keep playing around like this, you’ll die," beside his body, the Incomplete Coin radiated a cyan light, within that glow, a vague half-formed figure of a soul appeared.
That too was a soul.
But weakened, fragmented, barely sustaining, nearing the edge of extinction.
Li Yi’s soul abruptly awakened, and he quickly looked towards the bottle containing the Fei Mu Needle next to his body. His soul extended its hand, the palm passed through the glass bottle, and gently swiped, touching the Fei Mu Needle.
The next moment.
A severe pain of the soul came; his soul’s palm was severed by the Fei Mu Needle and then transformed into a force of soul power adhering to it.
After that, Li Yi’s soul, enduring the pain, returned to his physical body.
At that moment, he felt like he had fallen back into the mud and put on shackles again, incredibly heavy.
A moment later, Li Yi opened his eyes, feeling a splitting headache, his soul again injured, his whole person drowsy.
"If your method turns out unreliable, I’m going to fight you."
He didn’t care about anything else; he took out Resurrection Pills from his backpack for healing soul injuries and swallowed several; only then did his condition somewhat improve.
