Chapter 318: Chapter 219 Mythical Creatures_2

Suppressing the excitement in his heart, Li Yi continued his meditation and cultivation.

This cultivation session lasted for a full three days, during which he gained significantly, with an obvious increase in his physical strength. Besides, his Qi-Blood had accumulated to the level of the Six Apertures. In another three or four days, his Qi-Blood would be sufficient to open the nine acupoints and return to the Refining Realm.

"Li Yi, your Cross-border position has been confirmed. In three days, at noon, the bureau will send a helicopter to pick you up. Be ready to leave," Zhang Lei told him over a phone call that afternoon.

"Okay, I understand," Li Yi replied.

Everything was going as planned, and an unknown Cross-border operation would begin in three days.

Li Yi felt both curious and somewhat excited.

What kind of world was waiting for him?

Could he also learn the cultivation methods from another world?

However, thinking that there were still three days left, Li Yi controlled his excitement and continued his cultivation after sharing the news with Sister Lin and others.

Yet, tonight.

Something was amiss above Tianchang City. It was not the thunderstorm season, but the night sky was continuously lit by streaks of lightning, and the deafening thunder lit up the night sky like daylight. Such abnormalities caused fear and unsettled the cultivators.

"Boom~!"

A thunderclap streaked across the sky outside Li Yi’s top-floor, striking a large tree nearby with its scorching lightning, instantly splitting it in two and setting the branches alight with a fierce fire.

"What’s happening?"

Zheng Lan in the Peace Finance Building was awakened and immediately began to investigate.

Since the last demon-subduing operation had ended, the people staying in the Peace Finance Building had all gone back to their places, some cultivators and Lin Yue had gone to the training base for cultivation, and the building had returned to its previously deserted state, with only Zheng Lan left to manage it.

"The trees outside have been struck by lightning and are on fire."

Zheng Lan saw the situation outside and wanted to extinguish the fire, but she stopped at the doorway as lightning struck randomly outside. She was afraid of being struck by lightning if she went out to extinguish the fire.

Fortunately, the fire did not burn for long and extinguished on its own after a while.

This relieved Zheng Lan.

But still uneasy, she circled around the building to make sure nothing else was amiss before she calmed down.

However, at that moment, as a bolt of lightning crossed the sky, Zheng Lan saw a figure illuminated by the lightning, casting a shadow on the ground. Although it was just a fleeting glimpse, she clearly saw that the figure was exceptionally large and had wings, resembling a humanoid creature.

The creature was moving fast, chasing the lightning and emitting a sharp cry.

"What is that? An Extraordinary Creature?"

Although Zheng Lan was not a cultivator, she had some basic knowledge. Thinking this, she immediately took the elevator and informed Li Yi.

An Extraordinary Creature lingering near the Peace Finance Building was not good news.

She went to the top floor, disregarded any sense of decorum, used her authority to open the door to Li Yi’s room, and was startled to see the giant Extraordinary Creature outside the opposite glass window. At that moment, it was flapping its wings, hovering mid-air, with its bright golden vertical pupils staring at Li Yi, who was inside the room cultivating in Meditation.

It seemed to be sizing up Li Yi, showing a hint of curiosity in its eyes.

Perhaps it was Zheng Lan’s scream that disturbed the Extraordinary Creature outside.

With the sound of flapping wings, the giant figure seemed to transform into a streak of light chasing the lightning, entered the clouds, and disappeared in an instant.

At this moment, Li Yi also woke up from his Meditation.

"Zheng Lan, what happened?"

Li Yi suddenly opened his eyes. He had been deeply engaged in Meditation, and the good soundproofing of the top floor had prevented any outside noise from waking him. It was Zheng Lan’s scream that had startled him awake.

"Li Yi, something is very wrong outside, and just now, I think I saw an Extraordinary Creature outside the building," Zheng Lan said, her eyes flashing with panic and anxiety.

"Is there something else?" Li Yi furrowed his brows as he glanced out of the window.

Indeed.

That night, something was amiss in Tianchang City. Lightning crisscrossed the sky, shaking the heavens as if a great force was tearing the sky apart. This was certainly not a normal thunderstorm, for there was not the slightest sign of rain.

The scene reminded Li Yi of the Sky Tipping incident ten years ago.

"It shouldn’t be a Sky Tipping incident; these are localized catastrophes," Li Yi furrowed his brows as he looked into the distance.

However, beyond Tianchang City, everything seemed normal, with no such anomalies.

"Sister Lin said that the Earth has now entered a region rich in cosmic energy, and strong cosmic energy can distort space-time, allowing two worlds that are far apart to briefly contact and collide..." Li Yi’s eyes flickered as he peered through the lightning into the depths of the clouds. For a moment, he saw some magnificent ancient buildings.

Glorious and golden, simple yet grand.

They appeared like a mirage, but these visions disappeared in the blink of an eye, seeming like illusions. Yet, in that brief moment, he thought he saw some mysterious objects invading Earth, creatures within the clouds pursuing the lightning, flashing by.

"The gate to cross borders has been opened, and Earth has been invaded again," Li Yi’s heart sank.

He roughly understood what was happening that night.

Such occurrences weren’t uncommon. Many extraordinary creatures and mythical creatures arrived on Earth this way.

Of course, if one were lucky, some mysterious objects might appear, though the odds were small since these objects didn’t move around by themselves, so mostly extraordinary creatures invaded Earth.

"Zheng Lan, the extraordinary creature you just saw probably came to Earth from another world late tonight; it’s of an unknown species. The Peace Finance Building is relatively tall and tends to attract some extraordinary creatures more easily, but don’t worry, I’ll be on guard tonight and handle any situation," Li Yi said.

Although he spoke lightly, he felt uncertain inside.

The beings that dared to chase the lightning were likely beyond the category of extraordinary creatures and had reached the level of mythical creatures. His current realm was definitely no match for them.

But he couldn’t tell the ordinary people this, as it would only increase their panic.

"Should we notify others to take refuge?" Zheng Lan asked nervously.

Li Yi shook his head, "No need, and go help me access the surveillance to see what exactly the extraordinary creature lurking around the building is."

"Ok, I’ll do it now." Zheng Lan nodded and immediately went to the surveillance room to retrieve the footage.

She was in charge of the building’s decoration inside and out and was very familiar with some of the security equipment.

After a while,

a rather clear picture was sent to Li Yi’s phone.

Li Yi looked at it and his expression subtly changed.

The creature in the picture was a humanoid about four or five meters tall with a pair of enormous wings on its back, and it held a golden weapon in its hand. The weapon was peculiar, resembling a huge metal spike, yet also like a Golden Mace, with flowing light circulating on it, very distinctive.

He began searching with the picture and eventually found a mythical creature that closely resembled it.

Legendary Garuda that feeds on dragons, wielding a Demon-Subduing Pestle.

"Are you kidding me, was that really a mythical creature that just appeared?" Li Yi felt astonished and a chill ran down his spine.

If that creature had attacked him then, he would have undoubtedly died without even a chance to escape.

He looked out of the window once more.

Li Yi didn’t see any trace of the Garuda, which probably chased the lightning and left Tianchang City. But he knew the creature must still be on Earth because the Cross Border gate had disappeared, and the Garuda couldn’t return to its own world and had to remain on Earth.

This was also why many extraordinary and mythical creatures stayed on Earth.

Oftentimes, it was not that they wished to stay; it was because the stability of the Cross Border gate was unreliable, and they could no longer return.
