408: Chapter 407: The New Girl in the Canteen 408: Chapter 407: The New Girl in the Canteen Wang Dadong shook his head and continued eating his meal.

As he ate, a sudden burst of cursing came from the serving window.

“Are you blind?

Don’t you recognize me, Zeng Xiaozhang?

Do I also need to swipe my card to get food?” An extremely arrogant voice sounded, it was none other than the manager of the security department, Zeng Xiaozhang.

Jinding’s cafeteria operated on a card-swiping basis, strictly speaking, employees had to swipe their cards before they could get their food.

But the company’s leaders often didn’t swipe their cards, even bringing their own friends to the cafeteria to eat.

It wasn’t about the few dollars for the meal; they were simply too lazy to carry their meal cards and took the opportunity to show their friends how well they were doing in the company.

Of course, the main reason was that the food in the company’s cafeteria was genuinely good, reasonably priced, clean, and hygienic.

Such incidents were common, and although the cafeteria was privately contracted, the staff usually didn’t ask the leaders to swipe their cards to please them.

But today was a special case since the server was a new employee who didn’t recognize Zeng Xiaozhang, so he didn’t serve him any food.

Unfortunately for Zeng Xiaozhang, who had brought a friend along for a meal, he felt his face was being slapped.

He immediately lashed out and cursed the server.

“I’m sorry, I don’t know you, but no matter who you are, you need to swipe your card to eat, that’s the rule of the cafeteria,” said the petite figure responsibly for serving the food.

Despite being scolded by Zeng Xiaozhang, she spoke without any sign of inferiority or haughtiness.

Wang Dadong took a closer look and realized that the beautiful woman serving the food was actually Gui Xiang, the pure beauty from the mountains who had conspired with Chi Min to trick him.

Though now Gui Xiang was draped in an apron and wearing a white chef’s hat, it couldn’t hide her innate purity.

Under Chi Min’s instigation, Gui Xiang and Chi Min had tricked Wang Dadong that day.

But the naturally kind-hearted Gui Xiang felt it was wrong, so she decided to work and earn her own money.

By doing so, she could alleviate her parents’ burden back in the countryside and wouldn’t have to rely on Wang Dadong to send her money.

Gui Xiang’s words only fueled Zeng Xiaozhang’s anger, who shot back coldly, “Do you really think you’re deliberately messing with me?

Do you believe I can have you fired in a minute?”

“Xiaozhang, let’s just forget about it and eat somewhere else,” Zeng Xiaozhang’s friend said, tugging at his arm, trying to persuade him.

The advice of his friend only made Zeng Xiaozhang feel even more humiliated; he couldn’t believe a new cafeteria worker was giving him such trouble.

He slammed his meal tray against the serving window, “Are you going to serve me today or not?”

“Swipe your card, and I will,” Gui Xiang said calmly.

“Fine, you just wait!” Zeng Xiaozhang immediately stormed into the cafeteria and, raising his hand, slapped someone.

Upon receiving the slap, five faint marks instantly appeared on Gui Xiang’s tender white cheek.

“Are you going to serve me now?” Zeng Xiaozhang asked, having just slapped Gui Xiang.

“Swipe your card, and I will serve you,” Gui Xiang said, gripping the spoon tightly, tears welling up in her eyes, but she still refused to serve Zeng Xiaozhang.

“Manager Zeng, this is a new girl we’ve just hired in the cafeteria, she doesn’t know any better.

Let’s not hold it against her.

Come on, let me serve you,” an auntie from the cafeteria couldn’t stand watching anymore, took Zeng Xiaozhang’s plate, and prepared to serve him.

“Put it down!

Today I must have her serve me, none of you dare touch my plate!” Zeng Xiaozhang glared coldly at the few cafeteria aunties, his face’s fatty flesh trembling.

The cafeteria auntie had no choice but to put down the plate.

As cafeteria workers, their status was even lower than that of the company’s security guards; they wouldn’t dare go against Zeng Xiaozhang’s wishes.

“Serve me!” Zeng Xiaozhang pointed at his plate and barked at Gui Xiang.

“Swipe your card first, then I’ll serve you,” Gui Xiang said through clenched teeth.

“Gui Xiang, just serve Manager Zeng.

The leaders of the company don’t need to swipe their cards,” the auntie from the cafeteria said kindly, fearing that Gui Xiang would be hit again.

“There’s nothing in the cafeteria rules that says leaders don’t have to swipe their cards, so he has to swipe his card.” Gui Xiang clutched the serving spoon, refusing to serve the rice.

“Do you believe I could get you fired with just one phone call?” Zeng Xiaozhang was almost amused by anger, never expecting to meet someone so stubborn.

“Even if you fire me, I can’t serve you without a card swipe,” Gui Xiang said, looking down.

At that, Zeng Xiaozhang’s fury finally erupted; he grabbed a plate of food from nearby and smashed it onto Gui Xiang’s head.

Instantly, oil and vegetables streamed down Gui Xiang’s lovely face.

After smashing the food, Zeng Xiaozhang, still not pacified, kicked Gui Xiang twice and cursed, “Damn it, what do you think you are, daring to defy me?”

“This is infuriating!

Come on, let’s go eat out,” Zeng Xiaozhang snorted and prepared to leave.

Just as he turned around, suddenly tripped by something, he went tumbling towards the ground.

Thud!

Zeng Xiaozhang crashed to the floor, face-first, nearly breaking his front teeth, mouth full of fresh blood.

“Damn it, who the hell tripped me?” Zeng Xiaozhang hadn’t even gotten up before he began to curse loudly.

“Ah, Manager, I’m so sorry, it wasn’t intentional, I’ll help you up!” Wang Dadong’s face was a picture of panicked alarm.

Wang Dadong took hold of Zeng Xiaozhang’s outstretched hand, trying to pull him up.

But as soon as he pulled, Zeng Xiaozhang started howling in pain.

“Manager, what’s wrong?

Don’t scare me, I’m going to get you up right now,” Wang Dadong continued to pull at Zeng Xiaozhang with force.

Yet as Wang Dadong’s pulls hoisted half of Zeng Xiaozhang into the air, he couldn’t get up.

“Manager, get up, the ground is so dirty,” Wang Dadong said, increasing the strength of his pull.

The harder Wang Dadong pulled Zeng Xiaozhang, the louder Zeng Xiaozhang screamed.

“Manager, why are you sweating coldly?

Did you hurt something when you fell?”

“Manager, don’t scare me; I’ll take you to the hospital right now.”

Zeng Xiaozhang felt the urge to curse; his cold sweat wasn’t from the fall, but because Wang Dadong was stepping on his hand!

“Ouch, you’re stepping on my hand!” Zeng Xiaozhang cried out as if he were slaughtering a pig.

“What?

Manager, what did you say?

Speak clearly; I didn’t hear you,” Wang Dadong deliberately leaned in closer to Zeng Xiaozhang.

In doing so, his entire weight shifted onto the foot that was stepping on Zeng Xiaozhang’s hand.

Zeng Xiaozhang continued to cry out in agony.

“You’re stepping on my hand!!” Zeng Xiaozhang bellowed.

Wang Dadong looked down and was immediately shocked, “Ah!

I’m so sorry, Manager.

I didn’t see it; I didn’t do it on purpose.”

The people around them couldn’t help but twitch at this; not intentional, my ass – how could he not feel such a big hand under his foot even if he couldn’t see it?

But although everyone knew Wang Dadong did it on purpose, they felt delighted inside, wishing it were them stepping on Zeng Xiaozhang a couple of times.
