Chapter 161: Chapter 118 Beast Tattoo_2
"...," the tattooed woman pondered for a moment, "let’s just get over there first. If we could divine it, so could other factions. Even if it’s a trap, we have to go."
·
On the other side, in an office building, the three members of the Holy Crow Church emerged from the shadows, gasping for breath, their faces pale, and their spirituality severely depleted.
A high school girl pulled a yellow charm from her storage ring and stuck it on the wall, turning the area into a concealed state. Then she took out a bottle of alchemical potion and gulped it down. After a few seconds, her face regained a bit of color.
"Why didn’t those people catch up?" the high school girl wondered.
"Don’t know, but we need to recover quickly and keep running," the bearded driver gritted his teeth. "Are this bunch of people dogs? How can they chase us so relentlessly..."
"When will the backup arrive?" The guy in the jacket who was manning the machine gun chugged down three bottles of alchemical potion in quick succession. He waited for a few seconds, and then his left hand made a faint sound as his dislocated bones realigned automatically.
He moved his arm and said grimly, "If this keeps up, we’re dead. If those cultists catch us, we won’t even have our corpses left intact. They might even take our souls for curses."
"If it gets to the most dangerous point, we’ll just have to hand over the stuff to someone else," the driver said solemnly.
The three of them were highly reluctant. They had fought their way from the Ghost Ship in Europe to the East Continent to acquire these treasures. It would be maddening to hand them over now.
But compared to that, their lives were more important.
After more than ten minutes, the three had mostly recovered and were about to leave when their expressions suddenly changed.
A wave of hidden murderous intent was gathering around them like a storm.
Boom!
With a loud crash, a burly bald man smashed through the wall and charged in. He was bare-chested, with muscles rippling all over, and six scars on his bald head.
"No way, even a monk wants to join the fray? Do monks also rob people?" The high school girl’s eyes widened in shock.
"Master Wude instructed that if the three of you hand over the treasures, he guarantees your safety," the muscle-bound monk said with his hands clasped together, looking very sincere, but then his tone changed sharply, "If you don’t know what’s good for you, this monk knows a thing or two about fighting."
"Damn, it really is a monk from the Wufawutian Temple. Why hasn’t the Buddhist sect punished you scum?" The guy in the jacket gritted his teeth, obviously holding a grudge against these monks for being heavily tricked before.
"That’s only if they have the capability," the muscle-bound monk said calmly, not taking the orthodox Buddhist sects seriously at all.
"Retreat!"
The three turned into black shadows, attempting to flee. However, in the next second, every wall in the room was violently destroyed, and imposing figures with hostile eyes emerged from the dust.
The three tried to jump out of the window, but outside, dozens of figures were already waiting, all showing off their divine skills, soaring in the air. There were extraordinary wind element users, gene-modified warriors with wings, and cybernetically augmented persons with flames jetting from their feet...
Countless gazes locked onto them from all directions, like a storm sweeping in.
"Damn, we’re screwed, it’s like trying to fight at a flea market," the high school girl deflated, "How the hell did you find us?"
"Your concealment spells and anti-divination spells all failed," a witch from the Witches Association said with a chuckle, "How could you make such a rookie mistake? I don’t even know how you managed to steal those treasures."
"???"
The three were stunned. What? The concealment spells failed?
The spells they had cast were exclusive techniques from their church. How could they suddenly fail...
The high school girl suddenly realized what had happened and flipped off the ceiling, cursing:
"Goddess, f@ck you!"
Everyone was stunned, and someone hurriedly warned, "Back up, everyone! Be careful of getting struck by lightning!"
Boom!
Thunder roared and a blinding bolt of lightning struck from the void, electrocuting the high school girl so her hair stood on end, her whole body enveloped in black smoke, and she convulsed uncontrollably.
"She’s not dead? Lady Raven truly is... gentle," many people were speechless. If a follower of any other church cursed their own deity so blatantly, the punishment would be worse than death, with the soul being dragged away for eternal torment.
But those familiar with the Holy Crow Church knew that this kind of thing was... a common occurrence in the church.
Probably the only one of its kind in the world, quite bizarre.
"It’s Lady Raven’s invisible hand interfering with their spells," an Omega member frowned. His extensive experience with the Holy Crow Church told him that Lady Raven was up to something, creating chaos just for fun.
"Forget about that, just hand over the stuff!" an impatient extraordinary person shouted.
The guy in the jacket quickly smiled, "How about we deal with the cultists first and then decide who gets the stuff? It wouldn’t be good if the cultists benefitted in the end, right?"
"Hand over the items first. We’ll deal with the cultists," someone retorted.
The guy in the jacket exchanged a glance with the driver, they sighed inwardly, knowing they were trapped this time. They had no idea what the goddess was up to, interfering with their spells...
"Who goes there?!"
Just then, there was an exclamation from outside the room, followed by a deafening roar of explosions, shaking the entire building.
Bang bang bang... Sounds of collisions and muffled grunts filled the air as Zhou Yuan, with his protective gang qi and True Dragon Breathing Skill activated, charged in like a meteor, smashing through all the extraordinary people in his path and crashing through walls.
He moved incredibly fast, bursting into the room in the blink of an eye, a fierce wind swirling around him.
The muscle-bound monk’s pupils contracted as he glowed with brilliant golden light, transforming into a golden figure, and reached out a massive hand toward Zhou Yuan.
Boom!
Thunder cracked, and a shockwave erupted. The muscle-bound monk was sent flying like a cannonball, plowing through a crowd of extraordinary people, his eyes filled with confusion.
Zhou Yuan withdrew his fist, and with a thought, a shadow pool spread on the ground. The three Holy Crow church members understood immediately and merged into the shadows.
Teleportation.
Zhou Yuan and the shadow pool on the floor disappeared, replaced by a demonic shadow covered in bombs, holding up a banner that read: Surprise Mother f@cker!
In the crowd, a witch raised her hand, summoning an invisible cylindrical barrier that enveloped the demonic shadow. The next second, the bombs exploded within the barrier, flames surging, yet the outside remained untouched.
"Chase them!" the crowd roared as they rushed out of the room.
·
"Oh wow, what luck, just wandering around and bumping into you guys,"
A boy with a long sword on his back and a blade of grass in his mouth raised an eyebrow, watching as Zhou Yuan and the other three emerged from the shadow pool.
"Whoa whoa whoa, I’m not here to fight," He quickly waved his hands, "I can tell from your breathing and moves that you’ve learned from Chen Guangxi for a while. Fighting you would be a beating for me, I’m just passing through, a complete bystander."
With that, he turned and ran.
Zhou Yuan: "..."
"Finally, backup has arrived!" The guy in the jacket cried tears of joy, but upon seeing Zhou Yuan’s face, was shocked, "Aren’t you that guy!"
"Holy crap, isn’t this the scapegoat?" the high school girl was stunned, not expecting the new Saint Heir to respond to their distress signal.
She glanced at him for a moment, her heart fluttering. He was even more handsome than in the videos and photos, exactly like her dream guy.
"So, everyone considers me a scapegoat to attract hatred, right?" Zhou Yuan said with an exasperated laugh, determined to find a way to separate himself from this Saint Heir identity.
"I get it now, the goddess deliberately gathered them together, planning for you to make a big move," the electrocuted high school girl finally understood everything, speaking through the black smoke still emanating from her.
"I get it, I get it..."
Zhou Yuan looked helplessly at the throng of pursuers.
This time, he really was going to make a name for himself in front of everyone.
