Chapter 153: Chapter 114 Crime_2
Thud... The telekinesis vanished, and everyone fell from the wall.
The nun saw that things were not looking good; she turned and ran. Taking advantage of the moment when everyone was getting up, she disappeared without a trace.
A cold gleam flashed in the doctor’s eyes. A sharp scalpel slid out from his sleeve, and he caught the handle firmly, stabbing it towards the plumber’s vital organs.
The plumber rolled and crawled to evade the strike. He pulled out a hatchet from behind, and after steadying himself, he swung it towards the doctor.
Clang!
The doctor blocked the hatchet’s blade with the small scalpel. With a twist of his wrist, the scalpel darted out like a venomous snake, stabbing towards the plumber’s fingers.
The plumber jerked his hand back as if shocked, but his fingers were still cut, and blood streamed out.
He snorted coldly; his eyes turned pitch-black in an instant as he activated the Demon’s Blessing granted by Satan. His physical attributes were enhanced in every aspect. The finger stopped bleeding, and the wound healed at a visible speed.
The doctor remained impassive. His blessing abilities were not suited for combat. If he were to fight the enhanced plumber head-on, he would be the one to die.
His gaze turned to the side, attempting to sneak attack one of them. If he could injure one, the others would divert their firepower, and he could escape. However, before he could see clearly, the plumber’s hatchet blade came whistling towards him.
Elsewhere, the goateed teacher quickly got up and kicked towards the officer’s face. The officer raised a hand to block, but the teacher, catching him off guard, swung his leg to kick the gun in the officer’s other hand.
The gun flew out and fell in the distant hallway.
The officer grabbed the teacher’s leg before he could retract it, yanking him to the ground. He quickly turned over and straddled the teacher, his hands choking the teacher’s neck tightly.
The teacher’s face turned red instantly. He punched the officer’s diaphragm, causing intense pain that made the officer’s vision go dark, and his grip loosened. Taking advantage of this brief reprieve, the teacher forcefully shoved the officer away and scrambled to get up.
But the officer gave him no chance, pulling him down by his legs and locking him back on the ground as they wrestled and exchanged deadly moves.
"Stop fighting!"
Zhou Yuan, watching from a distance, shouted, "You’re never going to kill each other this way!"
No one paid attention to him.
"Tch." Zhou Yuan was displeased. He took a step forward, approaching behind the plumber, about to deliver a hand chop when he suddenly saw a strange dark shadow appear in the hallway.
Holding a long knife in one hand and a bloody human head in the other.
It was the nun who had escaped earlier.
The shadow threw the head over; it thudded, rolling slowly to everyone’s feet, leaving a fresh trail of blood on the floor.
The four fighting immediately stopped, looking at the shadow in confusion, bewilderment, and vigilance.
[This shadow is a puppet created by Maeve using a Mysticism ritual. After losing the Holy Artifact, it wielded an ordinary machete, which was sufficient.]
"What are you trying to do?" the officer asked coldly.
That Maeve actually completed the final condition of the ritual herself... He instinctively felt something wasn’t right. This damn woman must have some unspeakable motive.
The shadow did not answer; or rather, it did not have the ability to speak. With a puff, it exploded into black smoke and disappeared.
"..."
The remaining four film protagonists exchanged silent glances, finally remembering Zhou Yuan beside them, but by then, there was no trace of Zhou Yuan in the hallway.
·
Library.
Zhou Yuan unscrewed the bulb of the wall lamp, pressing a button hidden inside.
Click.
With the sound of mechanisms working, the bookshelf on the right side slowly opened. A stone door inscribed with a ritual array appeared, rumbling up to reveal a staircase leading underground.
"Who are you, exactly?"
A stern voice came from behind him, accompanied by a gunshot. However, the flying bullet sunk into a pool of blood, disappearing without a trace.
"Don’t kill them; just trap them," Zhou Yuan instructed.
"Understood," Fang Qing replied indifferently.
[The plot is approaching its conclusion. I’ll remind you one last time: forty people represent forty sins.]
Zhou Yuan’s eyes were calm as he walked down the stairs.
The staircase spiraled downwards with no torches to illuminate the way; it was pitch black, utterly invisible. Fortunately, with Dark Vision, he wasn’t completely blinded.
The further he descended, the colder it got, and strange sounds continuously echoed, like thousands of demons whispering. It seemed as if the stairs indeed led to the depths of Hell.
Before long, a light appeared ahead, revealing a vast and spacious room.
Torches hung on the walls, but their flames burned a ghostly green, exuding extreme eeriness.
A large magic circle was inscribed on the stone floor. The intricate patterns and the menacing symbols were filled with crimson blood.
In the center of the array floated a spherical object, three meters in diameter. Black flames from Hell burned on its surface, with some liquid inside it. A demon with red skin, large horns, and bat wings was curled up inside, sleeping.
[Demons cannot manifest physically in the human world; even Satan can only walk the earth by possessing a human. This was the body Satan had crafted for himself. Once the ritual is complete, he can use this body as a vessel and truly descend upon the human world.]
Zhou Yuan squinted slightly, for there was another body inside the sphere!
It was a naked woman with her eyes tightly shut—none other than Maeve, whom he had seen in a vision!
"So this is your all-or-nothing move?" Zhou Yuan murmured.
"Yes," Maeve’s figure emerged from behind him. It was a projection of her spiritual power, "I will merge with this body. When Satan takes over it, I will fight him in the spiritual realm.
To be honest, I don’t have much confidence, but your appearance gave me hope.
If I lose, please make sure you use the Holy Artifact to kill Satan."
"So you did intentionally give me the Holy Artifact?" Zhou Yuan raised an eyebrow, as he had thought she had just accidentally dropped it.
"That shadow was a puppet doppelgänger I created with ritual spells. In terms of combat strength, even some demons are no match for it. The fact that you could easily defeat it shows that your strength far surpasses most demons; you are more suited to wielding the Holy Artifact."
Maeve said seriously, "I don’t know who you are or where you come from, but I can see your purpose, and I am willing to trust you.
The ritual is nearing its end; Satan is about to descend. Please... be ready."
"Alright." Zhou Yuan silently took out the Holy Artifact, quietly waiting.
Maeve’s apparition vanished, and within the spherical object, her body melted into a pool of blood and merged with the slumbering demon’s form.
Several minutes later.
An ominous presence arrived without warning. The ghostly green flames flickered violently, the temperature plummeted, and a bone-chilling cold surged up Zhou Yuan’s spine, causing goosebumps to rise on his skin.
Inside the sphere, Satan’s body trembled violently as if the two consciousnesses within were beginning to clash.
After a long while, the tightly shut eyes suddenly opened, and yellow demon eyes stared at Zhou Yuan, revealing a sinister smile.
Bang.
The sphere exploded, its yellowish-green liquid spilling all over, bringing the sulfurous and burning smell of Hell.
"Ugh... What a terrifying woman, I didn’t expect her spiritual power to be so strong that she almost killed me. Indeed, she is the greatest exorcist in history.
But it’s a pity, she is ultimately too young."
Satan stretched his bat wings, laughing grotesquely, "From now on, demons will rule the world, and the world will wail in the fires of Hell!"
"Not so fast, old Satan."
Zhou Yuan revealed a mocking smile, "Or should I call you—Maeve?"
"..."
The smile on Satan’s face disappeared.
