Chapter 138: Chapter 107: The Meeting Between Zhou Yuan and Wang Zhen

"...That’s the way it is."

A few minutes later, Fang Qing finished explaining the ins and outs of the situation.

In her account, Wang Zhen discovered the existence of the Cyber Demon during the Amazon Rainforest incident. He secretly began an investigation, following some clues to Xinyue, and eventually found the victim of the [Shy Cactus] incident.

However, he arrived a step too late. By the time he got there, the incident had already taken place several days prior. Unable to deal with the Shy Cactus, Wang Zhen had no choice but to abandon entering the room and make other plans.

The clues Wang Zhen was pursuing came from the victim, so he knew that the incident wasn’t as simple as it appeared on the surface. The Cyber Demon was the one causing trouble behind the scenes.

—All of this was concocted by Zhou Yuan, a mixture of truth and lies.

After listening, Chen Guangxi was stunned, "The nuclear explosion in the Amazon Rainforest was your doing?"

"Yes."

"Impressive, you even managed to pull off a nuclear explosion. That’s some serious work."

Chen Guangxi rubbed her chin in thought, "But what was Wang Zhen doing in the Amazon Rainforest? Participating in the ultimate humiliation?"

"That, I don’t know. After all, I’m just a Pokémon." Fang Qing’s face remained stoic, with a hint of concealed resentment.

This whole time, she had been taking photos of a succubus to sell online. Although she made quite a bit of money, engaging in such an erotic job made her feel like her very soul was being tainted.

"Correction, you’re not a Pokémon; you’re Paru. Get it straight, my girl. Pokémon fans are furious."

"...In any case, that’s all I have to tell. I hope you can report it to the Control Bureau and let the relevant departments take preventive measures."

"Got it." Chen Guangxi then asked, "You mentioned asking Wang Zhen to join the Control Bureau, has he decided yet?"

"I don’t know. He hasn’t mentioned it to me." Fang Qing shook her head.

"Alright, bye."

"Goodbye."

Fang Qing’s figure disappeared as she was recalled into her Paru Ball.

Chen Guangxi stood there thinking for a few seconds. Her golden eyes suddenly flashed with brilliant silver light, which vanished in an instant.

·

Control Bureau Headquarters, in a spacious, white room.

A brilliant silver radiance appeared, and Chen Guangxi stepped out from within.

"Welcome to the Control Bureau Headquarters, Ms. Aurelia. It has been 103 days since your last visit. Please remain still; the disinfection process is about to begin," a gentle and sweet female voice resonated in the room.

The floor around Chen Guangxi slowly opened up, and several mechanical arms extended from below, spraying disinfectant mist and conducting a deep scan to ensure that every life form entering the Control Bureau was "clean."

"Disinfection complete, please proceed."

With a click, the room’s door unlocked and opened automatically. Outside was an overly spacious circular hall, the floor paved with exquisite marble tiles, smooth as a mirror and reflecting charming luster. The dome featured a special lighting system simulating natural sunlight, making the hall feel clean, bright, and comfortable.

The circular hall’s walls were lined with 108 metal doors, with life forms of various races coming in and out constantly.

One side of the hall had a reception area with a long queue.

Quite a crowd today... Chen Guangxi joined the queue, and within a few minutes, it was her turn.

"I need to go to the Intelligence Department," Chen Guangxi said.

The Control Bureau employee took out a paper card and found the corresponding stamp, marking it with the [Intelligence Department] red seal.

"Please keep this. It’s your temporary access card, valid for four hours. After it expires, you’ll be teleported back to the reception hall. Please manage your time accordingly."

Chen Guangxi took the card and entered one of the two elevators on either side of the reception. Inside, there were no buttons, only a scanner.

She aligned the card stamped with [Intelligence Department] to the scanner. The next second, the elevator started moving.

A moment later, the elevator doors opened. The receptionist, who had been idly playing a mobile auto-chess game, immediately locked her phone and seamlessly switched to a welcoming smile.

"How can I help you?"

"I’m here to see Tianshan Hermit."

"This way, please."

The receptionist walked to a door and placed her hand on a fingerprint scanner, opening the door.

Behind the door lay the Control Bureau’s Intelligence Department, bustling with activity. The sound of mouse clicks and keyboard typing surged like a tsunami.

Before long, the receptionist led Chen Guangxi to a workstation filled with anime figurines.

"Tianshan Hermit, someone is here to see you."

"Who?" A long-haired, bespectacled man with obvious dark circles turned his head, then widened his eyes, "You, why are you here?"

Tianshan Hermit was the "dedicated intelligence officer" for the Alpha Mobile Task Force, highly skilled and capable of seemingly boundless feats. There was no intel he couldn’t obtain.

But over the years, everyone had only communicated online or via phone, rarely meeting in person. Now, with Chen Guangxi showing up directly, it left the shut-in feeling somewhat unprepared.

There was a palpable awkwardness, like meeting an online friend face-to-face and facing disappointment.

"I need to discuss something with you."

Chen Guangxi pulled over a nearby empty chair and sat down, "Is this a good place to talk?"

"Go ahead."

After organizing her thoughts for a moment, Chen Guangxi then divulged everything concerning the Cyber Demon.

—Surrounded by electronic devices, Chen Guangxi reckoned that the Cyber Demon wasn’t yet powerful enough to infiltrate the Control Bureau’s Intelligence Department. The Cybersecurity Division wasn’t to be underestimated; numerous digital super hackers and special anomalies guarded its firewalls.

After hearing everything, Tianshan Hermit mused, "Cyber Demon... I have heard of a similar story that’s widely circulated among programmers. It originated from a pre-World War III book ’Urban Legends Worldwide,’ but its authenticity remains unverified.
