Chapter 29: Fucking leech

Chapter 29: Fucking leech

My jeans ripped, blood seeping from the cuts. Her claws were like razor blades, slicing through my skin like paper. My t-shirt was in tatters, stained with blood, crossed gashes across my chest.

I growled, grabbing a lamp from a coffee table. I hurled it with all my strength. She dodged with a graceful leap, landing on the wall like a spider. "You’re pathetic, Hugo," she hissed, before lunging at me. Her claws aimed for my throat, but I jumped to the side, smashing a chair beneath my weight.

I got back up, gasping, and charged again. My fist slammed into her shoulder, making her stagger, but she retaliated with a claw strike that tore through my bicep. Blood sprayed, but I held on, muscles taut, veins ready to burst.

She was faster, more precise. Every strike she landed hit its mark, opening new wounds. But I could take it. I grabbed her wrist, twisting her arm with all my might. She screamed, but kicked me in the knee, which cracked ominously. I half-fell, but got back up, throwing an uppercut. She stumbled back, but not fast enough. My fist grazed her chin, making her wobble.

Still, she had the upper hand. My movements were slowing, the blood flowing too fast. My t-shirt, or what was left of it, clung to my skin, soaked with sweat and blood. Her claws were too sharp.

She leaped again, her fangs aiming for my throat. I raised an arm to block, but her teeth sank into my forearm, tearing a scream from my throat. The pain was unbearable, but I refused to let go.

"Ahhhhh... Fuck! That bitch!"

"Where. Is. Ben?" I roared, my voice echoing in the devastated living room.

Sabrina backed away, licking the blood from her lips, a cruel smile on her face. "You really want to know? Then come and get him."

She leaped again, and I braced myself, fists clenched.

"You’re just a low-level Wunder. You really think you can win?" I sneered, wiping the blood dripping from my forearm. My muscles bulged, straining my t-shirt to the point of tearing. Rage boiled within me, like a fire consuming everything.

Sabrina stared at me, a cold smile on her lips. "And you think you can get out of here?"

A chill ran down my spine. The villa was deserted, but I felt presences. Shadows, lurking somewhere, ready to pounce if she gave the order. Fuckin’ vampires... No wonder they’re among the most powerful Wunder. Their strength, their speed, and those damn servants that seemed to come out of nowhere.

"Doesn’t matter if I die," I growled, fists clenched. "I’ll take you to the grave with me!"

She sighed, crossing her arms. "Why are you so stubborn, Hugo? I have nothing to do with what you think. I love Ben. Even if he dumped me and... cheated with all those girls. I could never kidnap or kill him."

"Tss. You take me for a fool?" I spat. "A vampire in his room the night he disappeared, and you want me to believe you’re innocent? Several noble vampire families in the same area, that doesn’t exist. So, stop bullshitting me!"

My muscles bulged visibly, tearing my t-shirt even more. Veins stood out on my arms, neck, temples, like cords ready to snap.

I threw a right hook, aiming for her face. She barely dodged, but I saw a flicker of hesitation in her eyes.

"That vampire... it was Ben," she blurted out.

I froze, my fist suspended. "Huh? What are you babbling about?"

"I... I turned him into a vampire."

My blood ran cold. My face went pale, and a wave of pure fury exploded within me. "Bitch!" I roared, my voice echoing in the courtyard. "You turned him into your slave!"

Sabrina jumped back, but I was already on her. My fist slammed into her shoulder, making her stagger. She retaliated, her claws tearing through my chest again. Blood sprayed, but I didn’t care. The pain was nothing compared to my rage.

I growled, staggering, but straightened up, ready to strike again.

I threw an uppercut, which grazed her chin, making her stumble back. She retaliated, her claws tearing into my side, but the pain only fueled my rage further.

I grabbed a wooden coffee table and smashed it against her. She blocked with her arms, but the wood shattered, and she staggered. I leaped, my fist slamming into her shoulder, sending her to the ground. The marble cracked under the impact. She got back up, paler than ever, her fangs glistening. "You’ll regret this, Hugo!"

"It’s you who’ll regret touching Ben!" I roared.

She lunged, her claws aiming for my throat. I blocked with my forearm, blood spraying again. But I was stronger. I grabbed her by the waist, lifting her like a sack, and threw her against a wall. The plaster crumbled, and she growled, but I gave her no respite.

My fists rained down, again and again, each blow shaking her frail body. My veins pulsed, visible beneath my skin, like steel cables. I was a monster in my own way, and she was going to pay.

Sabrina made a desperate strike, her claws sinking into my chest. I screamed, but my hand grabbed her wrist, almost crushing it. She cried out, her face contorted in pain.

Suddenly, a cold wind brushed my neck. Before I could react, I was on the ground, breath knocked out of me. Turning my head, I saw a guy in a butler’s suit, his face smug. His eyes gleamed with an inhuman light. In a fraction of a second, he’d taken me down? This kind of Wunder, so fast, so powerful, wasn’t common. My stomach knotted. Is his father a duke or something?

"Lady Sabrina, should I deal with him?" the butler asked, his voice calm and threatening.

Sabrina raised a hand. "No, Emilcar. You may leave."

"Yes, Lady," he replied before disappearing, as if he’d evaporated.

I got back up, wiping the dust from my torn clothes. "Monstrous speed... You’re a high-ranking noble, huh? You’ve got a bunch of servants. You really needed to turn Ben into a slave?"

Sabrina sighed, her gaze almost sad. "Because I love him."

"Funny way to show your love, you masochistic bitch!" I spat.

She shook her head. "Anyway, I have no control over him. If I did, do you think I wouldn’t have kept him with me?"

I stayed silent, my brain racing. "Where is he, then? You don’t have a clue?"

"He’s not in danger," she replied. "It’s rather him who’s the danger, if you ask me."

"What do you mean?"

"He’s become insatiable. Me... even I never drank as much blood in a week as he does in a single day."

I frowned. Vampires didn’t need blood to survive. It was a pleasure, like alcohol for a drunk. But something was off. "Insatiable? Wait..." A horrible thought struck me. "Is he the one who killed all those people the ghoul devoured?"

Sabrina nodded. "I think so."

"Shit!" I yelled, running my hands through my hair, panic rising. "Shit! How is that possible? Ben wasn’t like that! You turned him into a monster, goddamn it! I should call Yuki... have him slit your throat!"

Sabrina narrowed her eyes. "Yuki? What’s he got to do with it?"

I snickered internally. If she knew that bastard was a Zodiac, she’d flee this town at the speed of light. Zodiacs were death incarnate for Wunder. But I kept that to myself. "Plus, you have the nerve to say there’s no need to worry? He’s out there hunting his next victim!"

Sabrina stared at me, her gaze hard. "You want to save him? Then stop acting like an idiot. He’s not here." She said, breathless.

"You know there are Zodiacs in Lewis Center?"

"What?"

’Besides Yuki, there were at least two Zodiacs who saved us that night when those betas were causing trouble.’

"If Ben attracts attention, he’ll get killed!"
