Chapter 150: Chapter 150 - The Danger In Knowing Each Other’s Vulnerabilities Is That It Makes Us Love Each Other More

The blonde teenager could sense the conflict in her cute wife, even if she didn’t fully understand the source. She could feel ’reluctance’ and ’pride’ on the tips of her spiritual sense tendrils and pulsing out of the fragment near her heart. After mulling over the warring feelings while taking a few sips of the tea prepared for her, she looked up and quickly added.

"Just a small portion."

The feelings under review fluttered as if she was on the right track. Noticing the opening, the tall girl sincerely pressed that advantage like she had been trained to do... in combat.

"Enough to show our appreciation, but not so much that it would impact your cultivation plans."

The brunette’s face remained expressionless, but her mint eyes shone just a bit as she corrected her husband-wife in monotone.

"Your cultivation. The Order gave it as a wedding gift, but it was not to both of us. It was for you. Even if someone had given it to me, a thing like that would always be for you since I am... you know."

The physical Primalist was not about to directly say ’stronger than you’ in this situation. Even if part of her stuck in the past ways thought it *might* make the girl change her mind and keep every ounce of the cultivation aid to herself. Elua really wanted Qat to be as strong as possible!

"Whatever they meant by it doesn’t change that it is *ours*. El... you tell me what you do and think while encouraging me to do the same. Which is why I can suggest sharing it."

The swordswoman reached across and her thumb continued its gentle circles, this time on the girl’s palm.

"But in the end it was just a suggestion. They are your disciples. I just thought that having something productive to focus on might help quiet some of those thoughts that were keeping my wife awake."

After a moment of ’hngg~’, the ancient cultivator’s spirit quivered with reluctant amusement. Her husband-wife was becoming far too good at reading her moods and guiding her motivations! The fact that Qat was using this understanding to be innocently considerate rather than selfishly manipulative only made the reincarnator’s heart squeeze tighter.

"You’re getting dangerous, my ’fortress’. The good points you make are as sharp as your blade."

The Yecine chuckled at the honey-soaked words of her El, looking at her with all the ’adoration’ that her facade could muster... before the low voice spoke out with a sense of pride. Not so much in herself, but in the person she was staring at.

"I learned from the best. A cute fairy with the mind of an Ogre."

"T-that’s not a good compliment?"

Pigeon-blues blinked and her face tilted a little as she seriously considered the ’uncertain’ admonishment she had been given.

"No? I’ll work on it. What about the mind of a wolf?"

The brunette licked her lips and looked away. Her free hand grabbed her cooling cup of tea and took a long sip before mumbling, defeated by the one-two combo of ’how Qat really thinks of me’.

"...Too accurate and it also ruins the cute part."

"How come the cute part can be accurate but the dangerous side can’t be? You keep warning me you have it."

"I-I do, but..."

The spirit coiled around the heiress increased its tug and, for a brief moment, both of them had the same thought. With the surroundings muted by the Gaseous Element user, and the location of the kitchen in the Goltbred estate, did their current situation count as ’being in public’? Did Qat owe her a kiss?

"You know, El. The little girl I first met with so long ago outright admitted that she was strong enough in spirit to rip past the purpose of the tool they put inside me. If I was going to be scared of that side of you, it would have started years before."

"That... might be true. You were more troubled about your family finding out you had failed."

The taller girl nodded, not afraid of admitting it to the person who was there and could read her emotions so well. However, the admission that returned to her simple nod was somehow unexpected.

"You weren’t the only one who was scared of something they didn’t need to be that day."

Qat stared at the reborn cultivator with obvious confusion.

"I kept worrying that you’d run away when I was too honest about seeing through the deception. That you’d think I was a monster for knowing. That at any moment, a thing I did or said would make you reconsider your naive promise."

She could tell that her husband-wife wanted to offer a comforting word, but couldn’t find them. The feeling was plenty enough for the Goltbred. The heiress smiled at the nostalgia of their first meeting.

"I already knew I’d do anything to protect what we could become when you didn’t push away my hug. Then that moment you thanked me for keeping your secret before you left... I think I sat in my room and mumbled your name for two days straight."

The reincarnator felt the spike of ’concern’ through their connection even as her mind caught up with exactly what she had just revealed about herself. The recent days of emotional turmoil while Qat was away suddenly felt far more damning in light of this small, *unnecessary* confession.

"That’s not- I mean, I really don’t... usually-"

Her monotone crackled as she tried to backpedal, realizing that it was too late in so many ways. The amount of time and thought she had always put towards Qatrand er Yecine was not exactly a well hidden secret. All of the letters she sent over so many years would probably fill a small library.

"Should we send an invitation to my disciples about your offer?"

The words tumbled out too quickly when her mind caught on the idea of letters. Her small fingers clutched at the teacup like it might shield her from the studying gaze of her ’fortress’... who was watching the kaleidoscope of complex emotions in her El like they could be understood with enough time and dedication.

"Do you think your Skydancer can do it?"

"Our. I... I want to train him to listen to you as well, eventually."

Elua corrected the other girl to echo their earlier exchange. Shared ownership without capitulation was rather difficult for her... when what was hers was hers - and also when her entire self was Qat’s.

"But yes, he could. Probably. I’ll send it after you finish your tea. Y-you can help me write the letter? It was... your idea."

"I’d love that."

The simple acceptance in her low voice made the brunette’s heart stutter. She took a long sip to hide how her lip trembled even without her facade in place, though she knew her beloved could feel every ripple of emotion through their connection.

’I really don’t deserve...’

"I love you too, El."

A stomach growled and a finger shakily pointed to the plate covered up by the cook after she entered. Judging by how things were yesterday, there was little doubt it hid some kind of baking failure.

"I want that."

The Yecine grimaced when she realized her wife was pointing at the existence of her earlier struggles. That bit of frustration dispersed with the heiress looking at her with such open affection and longing.

"They’re not quite ready for sharing yet."

"I’ll be the judge of that."

The cultivator who - not *that* long ago - ate the remains of a Voidling as a snack to tide her over... had nothing at all to complain about. The lumpy, doughy bites of roll that Qatrand had tried her best with were as good as any fine cuisine!

However, after the letter was sent, the tea was done, and breakfast was nearing served... the sleeve of the now black haired swordswoman preparing to leave was tugged on softly. The brunette did have a single complaint that came out in the tone of a command.

"Kiss."

The tall girl didn’t comply immediately... but only because she was struck silly by the arrogant demand voiced with upturned eyes - and a posture that expressed more *begging* than she’d ever seen on a person before.

’Ah. There is no shielding against that attack. I’m not the only one getting more *dangerous*, then...’
