Chapter 75: No Respect
Chapter 75: Chapter 75: No Respect
Mu Yiliang raised her glass, but Yan Sijue firmly grasped her wrist.
Without hesitation, he took the glass of wine and poured it straight onto the floor. His expression was calm, his demeanor casual, as if he were merely spilling a glass of water at home.
Ci Jin’s arrogant smile froze, and his face darkened. "Young Master Yan, what do you mean by this?"
"My companion isn’t suitable for drinking either, apologies." Yan Sijue said the words of apology, but they held no sincerity.
Ci Jin sneered, "I don’t think it’s that she can’t drink, but that Mr. Yan isn’t giving face, right?"
"It’s just a health reason, what’s it got to do with face? Mr. Jin is overthinking." Yan Sijue skillfully deflected.
Ci Jin glared at him, clutching a wine glass so tightly it was nearly crushed, when Old Yang immediately spoke up.
"Old Jin, today’s a rare opportunity, don’t get angry." He chuckled, "Young Master Yan always has this temper. I heard Mr. Yan even dares to talk back to Old Sir Yan."
Yan Sijue merely smiled without speaking.
Ci Jin’s face remained sour, but ultimately, since it wasn’t his own venue and making a scene would backfire, he’d end up losing out and letting Old Yang and the others benefit.
Yet he couldn’t swallow this indignation! If he let it go just like this, wouldn’t it seem like he was afraid of this fresh young kid?
The atmosphere remained tense, but if Yan Sijue were willing to soften his stance, Ci Jin could easily exit the situation. Unfortunately, Young Master Yan showed no such intention, instead chastising Mu Yiliang.
"Don’t be so reckless next time, understand?" He narrowed his eyes, slightly displeased.
Mu Yiliang nodded obediently, "I’m just worried about you... You haven’t been resting well these days..."
Having said that, she turned her gaze to Ci Jin, smiled, and said, "Mr. Jin, I’m sorry. Our Mr. Yan is worried about me and doesn’t want me to drink, so please don’t take offense~"
Yan Sijue’s eyes showed a hint of amusement, silently approving her actions.
Hearing this explanation, Ci Jin’s expression finally eased, and he said, "In that case, I won’t force it. But Mr. Yan, your companion is indeed interesting."
Yan Sijue pulled Mu Yiliang into his arms, smiling and nodding, "Sorry to amuse you, Mr. Jin."
The tension in the hall finally eased.
Mu Yiliang discreetly curved her lips into a smile.
When she had snatched the glass from Yan Sijue’s hand earlier, she never intended to actually drink.
Because she was certain Yan Sijue would never let her drink it. By taking the initiative to assist him, Yan Sijue might feel his male authority was challenged and get angry, but for her willingness to share the burden, he would also appreciate it, making it even less likely for him to let her drink that glass of wine.
Sure enough, she’d bet correctly.
At this moment, footsteps were heard at the door, and Old Yang chuckled, "That Old Xu, finally made it, kept us waiting!"
"Haha..." Ci Jin sneered twice at the newcomer.
"Sorry I’m late," the man referred to as Old Xu chuckled lightly, stepping in front of everyone.
Mu Yiliang immediately directed her gaze toward him.
With just one look, she was surprised.
Hearing Ci Jin and Old Yang refer to this man as Old Xu, Mu Yiliang thought this last arriving person must be no youngster, but to her surprise he was a young man who didn’t look even thirty, and what’s more... he was quite handsome.
