Chapter 178: Chapter 178 Unresolved Emotions

"Are you Nie Qing?" Mu Yiliang asked incredulously.

The man’s face turned pale, and he shook his head gently, "No, I’m not."

"Then you’re one of his subordinates." Mu Yiliang closed her eyes, unable to describe how she felt inside.

First Su Yan, then Ye Moran, what’s going on today? Old acquaintances appearing one after another!

Ye Moran smiled, neither admitting nor denying it, and softly asked, "What would you like to eat? I’ll have someone deliver it for you."

"Where are Xiao Qi and Robert?" Mu Yiliang’s voice was cold and hard as she forcefully shook off his hand.

"They’re fine, don’t worry," he continued to smile, "How about some desserts? I remember you love sweets the most."

Mu Yiliang took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down, "What’s going on? Why are you here, colluding with Nie Qing? I remember your AI investment bank has been thriving these past few years; you have no reason to take this path!"

Ye Moran was silent for a moment before smiling, "It seems you’ve still been paying close attention to me these years."

"Ye Moran!" Mu Yiliang finally exploded in anger, "Stop acting so ambiguously. I have nothing to do with you anymore! If you’re unwilling to say anything, I’ll have no choice but to see you as an enemy!"

"After all these years, your temper hasn’t changed a bit." Ye Moran seemed to dismiss her anger with a lukewarm smile, "Don’t be afraid, with me here, no one can hurt you."

Mu Yiliang turned her head away fiercely, refusing to look at him!

Ye Moran smiled again, stood up and walked out of the room. After a while, he returned with a platter of exquisite desserts.

He placed the platter in front of Mu Yiliang, but she merely glanced at it with an expressionless face.

"Afraid it’s poisoned?" he chuckled, picking up a piece for himself first.

"I want to see Xiao Qi and Robert." Mu Yiliang demanded coldly.

"You’ll see them in a while." Ye Moran raised his hand, gently caressing her cheek.

Mu Yiliang tried to break free, but he pulled her into his embrace!

"Let go of me!" she exclaimed angrily!

"Yiliang, I’ve waited so long..." his hoarse voice seemed to contain infinite affection and pain.

Mu Yiliang frowned, finally giving up struggling as she took a deep breath, "Ye Moran, what exactly is your motive?"

"I love you, Yiliang, I love you..." he suddenly said without warning, as if those three words had been swirling in his heart for a long, long time.

Mu Yiliang was taken aback, "What do you mean?"

"I wasn’t qualified to say those words before." he chuckled softly, "I’ve waited so many years just for this day..."

Mu Yiliang pressed her lips tightly together, recalling the times six years ago when he came to A City to find her, and all those ambiguous words and attitudes. Especially, the despair he showed that time when he tried to violate her.

She vaguely understood that perhaps this time he wasn’t lying to deceive her, but still, she didn’t understand and couldn’t believe it.

"If that’s the case, let us leave!" she said somewhat tentatively.

"Not yet." he sighed softly, finally letting go of her, "But as I’ve said, no one will harm you, trust me."

Mu Yiliang couldn’t help but glance at him, catching a fleeting violent look on his face.

What had happened to this man... exactly?

Eight years ago, he was already a rising genius banker on Wall Street. The AI investment bank he founded flourished under his leadership, receiving endless praise. Words like ’brilliant’ and ’prodigy’ seemed coined for him.

Yet he was also tender and affectionate, with a chaotic personal life, surrounded by myriad lovers, causing the then-besotted Mu Yiliang to nearly grit her teeth to dust.

Back then, she didn’t know any better. She thought becoming his woman would be a victory. In hindsight, he might have strung her along, but he never toyed with her. Considering her state at the time, it would have been very easy for Ye Moran to trick her into bed.

She once thought it was because he didn’t care about her, but now it seemed like another form of... cherishing.

Even later, his numerous over-the-line actions in A City revealed a sense of desperation.

Mu Yiliang suddenly realized that despite claiming to have deeply loved this man, she never truly understood him. Perhaps beneath his glamorous exterior lay an unspeakable darkness.

But at this moment, Mu Yiliang couldn’t afford to delve into his past, so she had to temporarily trust him.

At least, she believed Ye Moran wouldn’t go to such lengths just to deceive her. Given she was already under his control, there were many ways to achieve his aims without needing to put on such a show.

"When can I see Xiao Qi and Robert?" Mu Yiliang asked again.

"I told you, they’re fine," his smile remained tenderly indulgent. "But for now, I just want us to be alone."

Mu Yiliang instinctively avoided his gaze, lowering her eyes.

If it were up to her nature, even if she believed Ye Moran’s confession was sincere, she’d probably mock him ruthlessly.

But right now, she needed to rely on this man, so she dared not offend him with careless words, opting for silence instead.

"Yiliang, have these years treated you well?" he suddenly inquired.

Mu Yiliang paused, nodding haphazardly, "Quite good."

"I know you’ve long left the Yan Family," he chuckled softly, "Have you thought of me at all these years?"

Mu Yiliang hesitated for a moment, vaguely saying, "Occasionally..."

Just occasionally thinking of him, nothing more, that’s not considered lying...

But those simple words still brought an excited glint to Ye Moran’s eyes.

He reached out for her again, seemingly wanting to embrace her, but Mu Yiliang instinctively stepped back.

His movement halted immediately, his face gradually turning pale.

Mu Yiliang paused, ultimately offering a helpless, bitter smile.

Even in such a situation, she didn’t want this man to think she still harbored feelings for him.

"Ye Moran, whether what you just said is true or not, I have to thank you," she began cautiously, "Years ago, I longed to hear those words from you. Though belated, it fulfills a regret of mine, but..."

"Enough!" he suddenly snapped, with anger intensifying in his brow.

Mu Yiliang’s heart skipped a beat, yet she persisted, "But my feelings for you are from over six years ago; I long ago..."

"I said enough!"
