Ling Momo gently pushed open the door and saw Li Qingshen standing quietly in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. On the nearby coffee table was a delicate little teapot, with a teacup beside it emanating curling steam, the fragrance of tea drifting gently through the air.
Li Qingshen wore a beige shirt, standing with his back to her, exuding a casual elegance. The sunlight outside the floor-to-ceiling window was splendidly bright, the sky blue and clouds white, the mountains high and trees green, like a beautifully composed painting.
Yet, this scene seemed somewhat familiar to Ling Momo.
In her mind, she couldn’t help but connect the man in front of her with Enson. Enson had also stood with his back to her like this. Outside the floor-to-ceiling window of the "Imperial Palace" penthouse was the bustling night view of City X.
Ling Momo couldn’t help but furrow her brow. Before she could think deeply, Li Qingshen had already turned his head, disturbing the quiet beauty, creating waves of stunning surprise.
That kind of astonishment was neither seductive nor flamboyant, neither sharp nor ostentatious, yet it could make one instantly hold one’s breath, as if, with the slightest carelessness, everything before them might dissolve into nothingness.
The man’s eyes were deep-set, his nose high-bridged, his facial contours flawless, merging depth with mystery.
Even though Ling Momo had faced this face many times, she still couldn’t help but be transfixed.
"You’re early today," Li Qingshen spoke, his tone hollow.
"Mm." Ling Momo obediently nodded like a schoolgirl, respectfully walked up to Li Qingshen, and stood properly, "I had nothing to do today, so I came a bit early."
Li Qingshen raised the teacup from the table and drank it in one go. Ling Momo immediately bent down, refilled his tea cup, and presented it with both hands, smiling amiably, "Teacher, what should I do today?"
Li Qingshen stared at the pair of small, white hands in front of him, his gaze slight flickering, awkwardly shifted his body, took the tea cup, and held it in his hand. His tone was indifferent, "Did you finish copying Mozart’s nocturne a hundred times?"
Ling Momo immediately pouted, her expression pitiful as she shook her head.
"Then continue," Li Qingshen frowned.
Ling Momo’s expression grew even more aggrieved. Standing there, pouting as if wanting to protest, but in the end, she hung her shoulders, obediently turned, walked to the desk nearby, sat down, picked up a pen and paper, and sat properly, in a very standard posture. Just like a schoolgirl, she held the pen and began to meticulously copy the music score she already knew by heart.
Actually, Ling Momo did feel a bit rebellious deep down. Enson assigned Li Qingshen as her teacher, and she was initially very happy, but Li Qingshen made her copy scores of various famous compositions every day.
Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven.
Other than that, he never taught her anything else.
Ling Momo only ever thought of rebelling, but never dared. She hated herself for being so meek in front of Li Qingshen, logically speaking, she didn’t owe him anything.
Moreover, they did have a bit of a familial relationship.
Of course, this familial relationship lacked any blood relation.
It was just that Li Qingshen’s grandmother remarried her great-grandfather, and legally, she had to call him "little uncle."
They had met before, when she was eight years old, on the day her great-grandfather married Li Qingshen’s grandmother.
The next time they met was six years later, when she was fourteen, and Li Qingshen had returned from abroad. It was New Year’s Eve, they had a meal, and he gave her her first gift.
