The Mistress Is Reborn As The Fiancée -
Chapter 27: Make Flynn Hers
Chapter 27: Make Flynn Hers
The departure of Evan, his face a mask of wounded pride, had left a palpable void, the atmosphere awkward. Grandma Jia, relieved at seeing that her Areum was back and in one piece had retreated to her chambers, leaving Vernon, Alice, and Ma-Ri to confront the simmering chaos.
The silence that followed was heavy, laden with unspoken accusations and simmering resentment. Vernon, his face flushed with a dark anger, turned to Ma-Ri, his eyes blazing with a furious intensity. The sound of his hand striking her cheek echoed through the room, a sharp, brutal punctuation to the unspoken tension.
Alice gasped, her hand flying to her mouth, her eyes wide with horror. She rushed to Ma-Ri’s side, her arms wrapping protectively around her daughter. "Vernon!" she cried, her voice laced with a mixture of anger and fear. "How dare you!"
Ma-Ri, her cheek burning, her eyes filled with a mixture of pain and defiance, remained silent. She knew her father’s temper, his volatile nature. She knew that any attempt to defend herself would only fuel his rage.
"How dare I?" Vernon roared, his voice thick with fury. "How dare she! She has ruined everything! She has ruined it all completely!"
He gestured wildly towards the empty doorway, his eyes filled with a burning rage. "Thanks to her incompetence, Areum has married some... some nobody! A bum we know nothing about! He will receive those shares as a wedding gift, then he will have power in the company! She has made us look like utter fools!"
Alice, her arms still wrapped around Ma-Ri, glared at Vernon, her eyes flashing with anger. "Don’t you dare blame Ma-Ri for this!" she hissed. "How was Ma-Ri supposed to force Areum to marry Evan when she did not want it? How is it her fault?"
"Maybe if your whore daughter had been patient and kept her hands off Evan for a little while this would not have happened!" Vernon shouted, his voice laced with a desperate frustration. "It was the perfect plan! It would have secured our control of the company! But she ruined it! She is totally useless!"
"I was completely blindsided by this!" Vernon continued as he began to pace the length of the living room.
He thought he had an airtight plan, one that would deliver his mother’s riches to him. Only for his daughter’s greed and impatience to ruin it for him. Areum was not stupid, she must have noticed how Evan and Ma-Ri were carrying on and she must have suspected. That must have driven her to seeking another man.
He would have to think of a new plan soon, before Areum and her husband were given control of the company.
Ma-Ri, her eyes narrowed with a cold determination, stepped away from her mother’s protective embrace. "I can fix this," she said, her voice clear and steady.
Vernon’s eyes narrowed, his anger momentarily replaced by a flicker of hope. "How do you propose to do that?" he asked, his voice laced with a skeptical curiosity.
Ma-Ri’s lips curled into a confident smile. "Flynn," she said, her voice laced with a seductive purr. "I can seduce him."
Vernon’s brow furrowed. "Seduce him?" he echoed, his voice laced with confusion. "What good will that do?"
"Think about it, Father," Ma-Ri said, her voice laced with a persuasive charm. "You heard Areum, he is just an artist, Probably a poor one too. And he married Areum, He is clearly handsome so he might Even be a gigolo who is with her for money, i imagine that he is easily swayed by money. I can offer him everything he has ever wanted and then we can convince him to join our side."
Alice’s eyes widened, her expression a mixture of shock and disbelief. "Ma-Ri!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with a horrified disapproval. "What are you talking about? Why would you want that with that nobody?"
"No." Vernon shushed Alice quickly. "Why don’t you let her speak?"
"It is the only way, Mother," Ma-Ri said, her voice laced with a cold pragmatism. "We have to get him on our side. We have to control him, i will be hard to resist to a man like him."
Vernon’s eyes gleamed with a newfound interest. "You think you can do it?" he asked, his voice laced with a hint of admiration. "Are you really sure?"
"I know I can," Ma-Ri said, her voice laced with a confident assurance. "He is a man. They are all the same, putty in my hands."
Alice shook her head, her expression a mixture of disgust and despair. "This is madness," she said, her voice barely audible. "You are going to destroy this family."
"I am going to save this family, mother." Ma-Ri retorted, her voice sharp. "Areum has made her choice. Now, we have to make ours and find a solution to our problems."
Vernon nodded, his eyes filled with a cold determination. "Do it," he said, his voice laced with a quiet intensity. "Make him ours. And make sure that he understands who is in control."
Ma-Ri smiled, a predatory gleam in her eyes. "Consider it done, Father," she said, her voice laced with a seductive purr. "He won’t know what hit him."
She turned and walked towards the door, her heels clicking sharply against the polished floor. As she left the room, she glanced back at her parents, her eyes filled with a cold, unwavering resolve.
She was going to get what she wanted. She was going to control Flynn. She was going to reclaim her power. And she wasn’t going to let anyone stand in her way.
She knew that she was playing a dangerous game, that she was walking a tightrope between seduction and betrayal. But she was confident in her abilities, in her charm, in her power to manipulate.
She was going to make Flynn hers. And then, she was going to make him theirs.
When it was all said and done, Areum would be left with nothing.
