Chapter 223: The Angry Bunny and the Greedy Horse

The red hair Primrose used to hate the most was actually a beautiful gift from her mother.

Ever since that day, whenever she started feeling insecure about her red hair, Primrose would gently remind herself that her beautiful mother had the exact same hair.

And her father had always said it was the most beautiful color in the world.

Now, her husband seemed to think the same.

[My wife still looks pretty with the black wig,] Edmund thought as he watched her finish getting dressed. [but ... honestly, I really love her red hair.]

[Her red hair always make her look beautiful. But even now ... she’s still stunning.]

Primrose bit her lower lip, struggling to hold back a smile.

Edmund was trying so hard to compliment her new look without forgetting to praise what he really loved about her, and it was honestly adorable.

"Husband, what do you think?" Primrose turned around slowly, letting Edmund see her full appearance. "Do you still think I’m pretty?"

She wore a simple light blue dress, one without a single pearl or fancy decoration on the fabric.

She had even taken off all her jewelry because it made her look too fancy for the kind of outing they had planned.

"You’re beautiful," Edmund said softly, taking her hand and pressing a gentle kiss to her palm. "You always look beautiful, no matter what you wear."

Primrose’s cheeks turned a little pink. His gaze made her shy all of a sudden, so she looked away and asked, "So ... how are we getting there?"

Of course, the royal carriage would be far too flashy. If they rode into town with that, their whole disguise would be pointless.

"The capital’s not that far from here," Edmund explained. "It’s about two hours downhill if we go on horseback."

Primrose frowned. "But ... I don’t know how to ride a horse."

And as far as she knew, it sounded nearly impossible for two people to ride one horse together.

Most horses could only carry about 100 kilograms on their back.

Unless both riders were under fifty, which was definitely not the case.

Edmund’s weight was definitely not fifty with all those muscles, and neither was Primrose, although in her case, it sadly wasn’t muscle.

"You can ride with me," Edmund said calmly. "Dante’s strong enough to carry us both."

[That horse has been eating a bit too much lately,] he added silently, [I really should make him exercise more.]

"Dante?" Primrose tilted her head. "Wouldn’t that be a little too obvious? I mean, that horse is bigger than most horses."

Not to mention, everyone in the capital probably already knew Dante was Edmund’s horse.

"Don’t worry," Edmund reassured her. "We’ll leave him in the forest just outside the capital and walk the rest of the way. It’s really not that far. I promise."

Primrose thought about it for a moment, then nodded. "Alright. That sounds reasonable."

No, actually, it was a terrible plan.

Primrose had only ever seen Dante from a distance, and even from afar, she could tell he was massive.

But the moment she stood directly in front of that horse, she froze.

She couldn’t even blink because the horse was enormous, way bigger than she had imagined.

She had to tilt her head so far back just to see Dante’s head properly, and the horse still looked enormous.

How could a horse even grow this big?!

Seriously, how many soldiers’ boots did he eat back at the training grounds?!

Still, Primrose had to admit that Dante looked incredibly majestic.

His coat was pitch black and shiny like polished stone, and his long, flowing mane made him look like one of those magical ponies from the storybooks she read as a kid.

"I know Dante looks a little big," Edmund said as he gently stroked the horse’s head, coaxing it to lower its head so Primrose could see its face without having to look up so high. "But he’s really gentle."

A little big? This horse was gigantic!

And what did he mean by gentle? Primrose clearly remembered Callen telling her that Dante once kicked a soldier so hard, the man broke a bone.

If that soldier had been an ordinary human, he’d probably be in a coffin by now.

"Are... are you sure?" Primrose asked nervously, taking a cautious step back from the horse.

She wasn’t being dramatic, she’d just never seen a horse this huge up close. It was reasonable to be a little scared.

"Come here," Edmund said gently, wrapping an arm around her waist and guiding her forward. "It’s alright. You’ll be fine. He won’t hurt you."

As she got closer, Dante leaned its head toward her and sniffed her hand carefully, like he was just checking her out before saying hello.

"See? He’s really gentle." Edmund took her hand and helped her reach out toward Dante. "Try giving him a little pet."

Primrose had never pet a horse before, so she just gave him a light, awkward pat. "G-Good boy ..."

To her surprise, Dante nudged its head into her palm, acting more like a friendly dog than a horse who could crush a grown man.

That sweet gesture made her feel a lot more at ease. Maybe this horse wasn’t so scary after all.

But just as she was starting to feel comfortable, something unexpected happened.

Dante suddenly chomped on her hand, not to bite, but to snatch the white glove she was wearing, and pulled it off with his teeth.

Primrose’s eyes widened in shock. "EDMUND! YOUR HORSE IS EATING MY GLOOOOVE!"

Meanwhile, the horse couldn’t care less. He just stood there, calmly chewing the glove like it was a snack, completely ignoring her horrified expression.

Thread by thread, her hard work unraveled right in front of her.

"Give it back!" Primrose reached for the glove, but Dante just lifted his head higher, like he was mocking her and her short legs.

"Hey!" she stomped her foot in frustration.

This greedy horse had just eaten her precious handmade glove!

[Why is she so cute when she’s angry?]

She heard Edmund’s voice echo in her head, clearly amused. [She looks exactly like an angry little bunny.]

"Edmund!" she snapped, turning toward him. "Your horse is eating my glove!" she repeated.
