Chapter 891: Chapter 890 I Remember You Now

After a while.

Shen Yixin came to her senses.

"You warned me a long time ago..." She gave a bitter smile, filled with helplessness.

Shen Yixin was a relatively rational and perceptive girl. After forcing herself to quickly digest the news, she recalled Lu Mian’s several attempts of hesitant speech.

And the many conversations interrupted out of necessity.

Xiao Qimo adjusted his glasses and lazily asked, "What did she warn you about?"

"She said Mi Lu likes men..."

Well, isn’t it men!

It’s completely normal for someone to like men, isn’t it?

Back then, she thought Mi Lu’s orientation was just niche, but she hadn’t expected this reason.

Xiao Qimo’s expression eased up considerably.

"Sorry for the trouble..." Shen Yixin didn’t dare face Lu Mian directly anymore. She quickly gathered up all her affectionate feelings and sat quietly in her seat.

Well, now the plagiarism issue had been perfectly resolved.

The only thing not perfectly resolved was her heart.

After having genuine affection, it was still hard to avoid the pain upon learning the truth.

Everyone exchanged glances in silence.

There were five people present, each lost in their own thoughts.

Until Ye Jinwen came back carrying two large bags of milk tea, glancing at the varied expressions of the group, "What happened? Did something go wrong?"

He distributed the milk tea as he spoke.

Ye Jinwen had a knack for understanding the situation; besides buying Zero a personalized flavor, he also got Lu Mian a no-ice, no-sugar lemonade, just as she liked.

"Little Mianmian, drink some water to calm down. We all believe you didn’t plagiarize." On his way back after buying the milk tea, he’d heard several people discussing the plagiarism issue and had purposely consoled Lu Mian a little.

Zero pulled him over in one swift gesture, "Don’t stress over it, Mian bro didn’t plagiarize. Mian bro himself is Mi Lu."

???

Ye Jinwen froze mid-motion, his hand carrying the milk tea bag pausing in place.

"You didn’t mishear; Mi Lu is Mian bro himself!" Zero reiterated.

!!!

Ye Jinwen looked at the group, who all wore expressions of realization, and suddenly felt a pang of melancholy.

"So, I’m the last to find out again?"

Zero: ... Seems like it.

——

Xue Lu wandered in circles around Mi Lu’s designated area several times, almost drawing the suspicion of the security personnel, yet she still didn’t see Mi Lu take a seat.

Having no other choice, she made her way backstage, looking for someone to contact.

At the door of the chief planner’s lounge, she coincidentally bumped into Sun Wei, who was also looking for someone.

The two didn’t know each other but clearly had the same objective.

Qiao Yaqian originally didn’t have time to entertain them, but when Xue Lu mentioned wanting to find Mi Lu and brought up the plagiarism matter, she took an interest and let them into the office.

Xue Lu still wasn’t entirely reassured and didn’t hand over the evidence or the USB drive to Qiao Yaqian at first.

She merely said, "Chief Planner, I’d like to personally meet Mr. Mi Lu. The things I have are crucial. With the opening ceremony about to begin, I need to find him before La Ge steps on stage."

Upon hearing La Ge’s name, Sun Wei immediately guessed the other party’s identity. Luckily, he was smart enough to have shown up ahead of time, or La Ge’s career would have been doomed.

Qiao Yaqian turned to Sun Wei and asked, "And you?"

"Chief Planner, I’m La Ge’s assistant. Regarding the song ’The Four Seasons,’ which he’s about to perform on stage, we’ve discussed and decided to temporarily replace it. We also want to express our deepest apologies to Mr. Mi Lu."

Xue Lu glanced at Sun Wei discreetly and sneered.

What a quick change in direction.

Sun Wei had no other choice. La Ge was stubborn by nature, so it fell upon him as the assistant to lower his pride and settle the matter. Aligning with Mi Lu’s side wasn’t a bad decision; after all, he could frame it as standing up for justice and supporting originality.

All this was for La Ge’s benefit—La Ge would understand his good intentions sooner or later.

Sun Wei turned to Xue Lu and said, "Ma’am, regarding the plagiarism incident you mentioned, La Ge and I also only learned about it today. We’re willing to admit our mistake and cooperate fully in exposing the plagiarist."

Xue Lu responded with a faint "Hmm."

Qiao Yaqian didn’t express her position but remarked that the matter was significant and beyond her authority.

"Let me contact Mi Lu first and see what she thinks."

"Okay, thank you, Chief Planner."

Qiao Yaqian immediately took out her phone, found Mi Lu’s social media profile, and initiated a voice chat.

The other side took quite a while to answer.

"Mr. Mi Lu, here’s the situation. A young lady here has some evidence of someone plagiarizing your work and wishes to speak with you in person. Could you meet her?"

"And me..." Sun Wei gently reminded Qiao Yaqian.

Qiao Yaqian added, "And La Ge’s assistant, who wants to apologize in advance and switch tonight’s performance piece."

At this moment, Lu Mian was seated in the fan area.

Dressed casually in athletic wear, legs crossed, she squinted slightly and answered the voice chat.

The voice call was on speakerphone, and several people around leaned in to listen.

"La Ge wants to change songs?" Fu Yu didn’t quite understand—he knew Lu Mian’s identity by now, didn’t he?

It didn’t seem necessary.

Besides, La Ge’s stance had been clear all along. If he really suspected Lu Mian of plagiarism, he wouldn’t have sent her a reminder message previously.

Lu Mian also understood the situation and asked in a calm tone, "Let the young lady take the phone."

"Alright." Qiao Yaqian handed the phone to Xue Lu.

Xue Lu felt a rush of nervous excitement, her palms sweating slightly as she picked up the phone. A crisp, cool, girl’s voice came through the receiver.

She glanced at the phone suspiciously.

Qiao Yaqian nodded, signaling her not to make a fuss and to continue the conversation.

"Mr. Mi, Mi Lu, I’m Xue Lu—a singer. I have evidence I wish to give you..."

"Did you gather this evidence yourself?" Lu Mian didn’t recognize the voice. She thought it was Lu Xinnuan.

"Not exactly... It was Lu Xinnuan and Teacher Pu Jing who uncovered it. They’re busy preparing for the opening dance backstage and asked me to help deliver it to you." Xue Lu didn’t take undue credit and explained sincerely.

She still hadn’t fully recovered from the shock that the voice belonged to someone so young and cool-headed.

Lu Mian gave an ambiguous hum.

"Master Mi Lu, may I know how I should deliver the evidence?"

"Give it to the Chief Planner—she can pass it to me." Lu Mian’s voice was indifferent, and she let out a faint, cold chuckle. "I’ll remember you."

Xue Lu was instantly overjoyed.

This was incredible—Master Mi Lu would remember her!

"Alright, I’ll give the evidence to the Chief Planner right away."

After arranging things with Xue Lu, Lu Mian told her to pass the phone to Sun Wei.

Sun Wei was overjoyed, eagerly taking the phone and showering Lu Mian with flattering remarks. He pledged full cooperation with Mi Lu on the plagiarism investigation, even offering to publicly denounce Lu Mian.

"Is this your decision or La Ge’s?"

"Well..." Sun Wei froze briefly—the voice sounded somewhat familiar.

Nonetheless, he didn’t have time to dwell on it, instead offering an ingratiating smile, "La Ge is introverted and not very social; he’s not good at handling these situations. I’m his good buddy, and I wouldn’t harm him. He’ll definitely agree!"

"Alright, I see."
