Chapter 50: Chapter 50 The Advantages of Having a Heavenly Immortal Master
Wen Tianming, known as the Eternal Venerable, had an elegant name but was quite straightforward, possessed a volatile temper, and was fiercely protective of his own.
After confirming Chen Jiuge as his second disciple, he made a grand gesture, directly relocating the cave mansion and the Spiritual Beast Garden entirely to the mountain peak.
Watching his new residence, Chen Jiuge couldn’t help but be awed by the Heavenly Immortal’s mighty power and his Master’s efficiency—it was truly incredible.
"Although the disciple initiation ceremony has been postponed, you are still my disciple, so you will cultivate here with me," Wen Tianming declared with the demeanor of an imperious tycoon.
Taking a deep breath of Spiritual Energy and feeling it was now ten times more concentrated than before, Chen Jiuge was filled with surprise and delight.
The Spiritual Energy of the Heavenly Realm was abundant; even the Mortal World had enough for cultivation. However, a richer Spiritual Energy environment undoubtedly offered great benefits, both for himself and his Spiritual Beasts.
"I’ve taken a cursory look at your Fire Qilin. Its Bloodline wasn’t very pure initially, but the Heavenly Tribulation came at the perfect time. The wild Heavenly Thunder further scoured away other bloodlines, making the Qilin Bloodline even purer. I had originally planned to ask an old friend to help refine your Qilin’s Bloodline.
"However, after examining you, I find your innate talent isn’t particularly high. Fortunately, the potential of your previous three Spiritual Beasts is decent. Though you’re not what one might call a heavenly prodigy, you can still be considered talented. Your first task is to evolve ’Bloodline Transformation’ into a Divine Skill during the Nascent Soul Stage and then deal with this Fire Qilin yourself," Wen Tianming said, hands clasped behind his back, as he laid out his plan for Chen Jiuge.
"Yes, Master," Chen Jiuge responded without any dissatisfaction, as this aligned with his own future plans.
"Ah, I’ve also enhanced the arrays in your Spiritual Beast Garden. The integration with that small Secret Realm wasn’t done well, so I directly merged it for you. Now, it can barely be considered half a Grotto Heaven Magic Treasure, though it cannot be carried inside your body," said Wen Tianming as he produced a delicately small building from his sleeve.
"I’ve also integrated your cave mansion while I was at it," Wen Tianming admitted, somewhat sheepishly. "It was originally supposed to be separate, but I merged it in one go while I was at it."
Although his Heavenly Immortal Master’s expression remained unchanged in Chen Jiuge’s eyes, he was deeply moved as he accepted it.
"Lastly, aside from you, I have only one other disciple: your Senior Sister, Wen Ruo. Our lineage maintains good relations with the disciples of other Elders. You’ll have opportunities to interact with them more."
"As for your Cultivation Technique, I believe you intend to pursue the path of a Beast Master. That’s not my specialty, so I can’t teach you much in that regard. As for becoming a Spiritual Plant Master, since you’re also engaged in Body Cultivation, you likely won’t have time for it. Fortunately, my attainments in Body Refinement are considerable. The ’Giant Spirit Dharma Form’ you’re currently cultivating isn’t suitable for you. Since you’ve entered my tutelage and are walking the path of a Beast Master, your future Lifebound Spiritual Beasts can be contracted from our lineage’s plant-type Spiritual Beasts. This ’Green Vine Immortal Body’ is more fitting for you. Take this time to study it thoroughly."
As Wen Tianming finished speaking, he pointed a finger at Chen Jiuge’s forehead, deeply embedding the complex and profound ’Green Vine Immortal Body’ Cultivation Technique into his mind. NovelFire
"Alright, go and cultivate if you have nothing else to do. Later, I’ll have Wen Ruo come find you." Just as Wen Tianming was about to dismiss him, he realized he was still holding Da Bai, feeling a moment’s embarrassment—Truly getting old, to have forgotten such a small thing.
Chen Jiuge watched as his Master, hands behind his back, tossed Da Bai over, then vanished into the sky, leaving him in a daze. Had he just become the disciple of a Heavenly Immortal???
"Right, your initiation gift," Wen Tianming’s voice floated down from the mist.
Eyeing the Storage Ring that had fallen into his hand, Chen Jiuge probed it slightly. He was first stunned by the dense profusion of Spirit Stones and Spirit Marrow. Then, he saw a plethora of High-level Spirit Plants, Spiritual Medicines, dozens of extraordinary Magic Artifacts gleaming with treasure light, and countless ores shining with Spirit Light. In a corner, other ’miscellaneous items’ were piled up like a small mountain.
Is this the scale of a Heavenly Immortal? Chen Jiuge swallowed hard, his hands trembling as he bonded with the Storage Ring through his blood.
Then he found a more secluded spot on the peak with relatively denser Spiritual Energy and bonded with the Grotto Heaven Magic Treasure refined by his Master through his blood.
Watching the Magic Treasure rapidly expand, Chen Jiuge was somewhat taken aback. This space seems to be about the same as mine before? No, actually, it seems a bit smaller. Did Master integrate the small Secret Realm with my cave mansion too?
He opened the barrier and entered the Spiritual Beast Garden.
Chen Jiuge exclaimed in shock, "The Great Divine Power of ’Another Grotto Heaven’? Is Master truly that formidable?"
He looked at the Spiritual Beast Garden, which had expanded over a hundredfold. The prairie was now clearly brimming with even richer Spiritual Energy. There were also two Plant Elves radiating a Fifth Rank aura. Not far away was the Grass and Wood Turtle; it would normally take decades for Grass and Wood Essence fruit to grow on its back, but now, shrubs were already beginning to form. It might even bear fruit in just a few years!
There were many other changes too, which Chen Jiuge hadn’t yet had the chance to investigate thoroughly. Heavenly Immortals are truly terrifying! Is this the Creation Power, to be able to live as long as the heavens and earth like a Golden Immortal once one survives the Life Span Tribulation? That means Golden Immortals, and the Immortal Daluo Golden Immortals above them, must be even more formidable.
The cave mansion itself hadn’t changed significantly; only the arrays and the exotic flowers and herbs outside the small building had undergone a major transformation. The interior arrangements remained untouched, as the inside of a cave mansion was considered a cultivator’s private space. Perhaps Master had this in mind and thus left it alone.
"Little Junior Brother, are you there?"
A gentle voice, carried by magic, reached Chen Jiuge’s ears. He quickly disabled the array’s restrictions and bowed to the senior sister he had met on his first day at Hundred Herbs Peak, greeting, "Senior Sister Wen."
"So you’re the new disciple Master mentioned! I didn’t expect that in just a few short years, you’d already become a True Disciple." Wen Ruo recalled Chen Jiuge after a moment’s thought; after all, he was the disciple with the Moon Rabbit whom her aunt had asked her to help receive.
Looking at his still gentle Senior Sister, Chen Jiuge felt quite sentimental. Who would have thought that Wen Ruo, the prodigy of Hundred Herbs Peak possessing the Eternal Youth Body, would become his Senior Sister? Life truly is unpredictable.
"Junior Brother, I’ve come to inform you about the benefits our Direct Disciples receive and some of our responsibilities," Wen Ruo said, her eyes narrowing into a smile.
"Senior Sister, please sit down and have a cup of Spiritual Tea, then we can talk at leisure," Chen Jiuge invited.
Wen Ruo did not refuse, merely watching quietly as Chen Jiuge made the tea.
After taking a gentle sip of the Spiritual Tea, Wen Ruo said, "Junior Brother, we, as Direct Disciples, are treated the same as the True Disciples of the Sect. Most of the Outer Sect and Inner Sect disciples and Stewards prefer to call us True Disciples.
"As True Disciples, we aren’t required to complete tasks assigned by the Sect; there are no such restrictions. Even so, we can’t just cultivate in the mountains indefinitely and never venture out. We still need to earn our own cultivation resources. We can’t always rely on Master. The sole responsibility of a True Disciple is to defend the Sect.
"As for other benefits, we receive some Spirit Stones and Merit annually, but that’s not particularly useful. Regarding Cultivation Techniques, you can learn directly from the Scripture Pavilion on our peak; no Merit is needed. However, our peak’s collection can’t compare to the Sect’s main Scripture Pavilion. If you don’t find a Cultivation Technique you desire here, you’ll still need Merit to exchange for it elsewhere.
"As for the rest, there’s not much else. Junior Brother, you can slowly figure it out yourself. Oh, and this is a Spiritual Beast Master asked me to give you." Wen Ruo took out a Spirit Seed the size of a walnut, glowing with an emerald green, from her waist.
"Most on Hundred Herbs Peak follow the path of the Spiritual Plant Master. Apart from the three Lifebound Spiritual Beasts contracted to build one’s foundation, it’s rare to contract additional Lifebound Spiritual Beasts. Master mentioned that you, Junior Brother, pursue the path of a Beast Master and also practice Body Cultivation. This Everlasting Vine, a descendant of Master’s own Immortal Vine, is now bestowed upon you, Junior Brother."
Chen Jiuge’s heart surged with emotion as he looked upon the Everlasting Vine Spirit Seed, which was filled with unlimited vitality. This is an Immortal Beast!
Immortal Beasts are different from Divine Beasts. Divine Beasts are born with the potential to achieve immortality, while Immortal Beasts have Bloodlines that initially do not reach the Immortal Rank. It’s just that their parents have already achieved immortality, which elevates the upper limits and potential of the Spiritual Beast’s Bloodline, hence their designation as Immortal Beasts.
As for whether Immortal Beasts or Divine Beasts of the same rank are stronger in terms of potential and combat power, it depends on various factors. These include the strength of the Immortal Beast’s parents and the purity of the Divine Beast’s Bloodline. It’s not easy to draw a definitive conclusion.
