The Master of Beasts -
Chapter 3 Golden Finger
Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Golden Finger
After saying goodbye to Xu Tian, Chen Jiuge immediately took out the Storage Bag containing the Wood Turtle eggs.
Riding the wind, he arrived at the base he had previously prepared for the Wood Turtles. He inspected it carefully and was very satisfied.
It was a marshland, not far from the only Spiritual Spring Lake in the entire valley, surrounded by the densest concentration of Second Rank Spirit Grass in the area. It could be said to be the place with the richest resources.
He took out the Wood Turtle eggs from the Storage Bag one by one and arranged them carefully.
Then, using his Golden Finger, he meticulously observed the Bloodline of each egg. As expected, the densest Bloodline is the Wood Turtle Bloodline. I initially thought the highest-grade Bloodline would be the Xuanwu Bloodline, but it turned out to be merely a Sixth Rank Crocodragon Bloodline, even inferior to the Red Dragon Bloodline of the Red Flame Sheep. Well, it doesn’t matter much. The main purpose is the Spirit Fruit that will condense on their backs when they mature.
The function of this Golden Finger was simple and direct: Bloodline extraction. Since Chen Jiuge was currently a Golden Core Cultivator, he could only extract from the same Spiritual Beast a maximum of three times.
He selected the two densest Bloodlines apart from the Wood Turtle Bloodline, along with the highest-grade Crocodragon Bloodline, and extracted them. Then, he chose the three eggs that possessed the relatively strongest concentrations of these three Bloodline powers and infused the extracted Bloodlines into them.
Crocodragon Bloodline, Hundred Spirit Turtle Bloodline, Clear Light Turtle Bloodline.
In an instant, these three eggs underwent tremendous changes.
Firstly, the Wood Turtle egg infused with the Crocodragon Bloodline had already grown nearly three times larger. Its originally dark turquoise shell had turned deep blue. Judging by its aura alone, it was clear this creature no longer belonged to the same species as the Wood Turtle.
The other two eggs showed similar changes, though not as drastic as the one with the Crocodragon Bloodline.
Next, he extracted the Wood Turtle Bloodline from these three eggs that had been infused with other Bloodlines and injected it into yet another egg. With this, the Beast King for this batch of Wood Turtles was born.
After completing all this, Chen Jiuge put away these three eggs and rode the wind to a secluded corner of the valley.
This place was a small Secret Realm that Chen Jiuge had specifically established to house Spiritual Beasts with special Bloodlines.
Otherwise, how could a farm owner who possessed such a large valley be so poor? He had spent a vast amount of Spirit Stones to purchase this Secret Realm just to accommodate these special Spiritual Beasts.
There were three variants of the Red Flame Sheep: a Red Dragon Beast with the Red Dragon Bloodline, a Flame Demon Beast with the Flame Demon Bloodline, and a Phantom Beast with the Phantom Bloodline.
*(Naming fee, please bear with me.)*
Apart from the Phantom Beast, which still somewhat resembled a sheep, the other two had completely transformed beyond recognition as sheep.
The Red Dragon Beast was covered in scales, its four hooves had turned into claws, and a small protrusion had appeared on its head. It now stood upright. The Flame Demon Beast looked exactly like a demonic figure from his previous life. If someone claimed they were Red Flame Sheep, probably no one would believe it.
Besides these three variants, the valley also housed two Snow Rabbit variants, two Golden Dog variants, and a variant of the Spiritual Chicken that he had raised during his Foundation Establishment period.
However, only one Spiritual Chicken variant remained, as the other two had been sold. It was thanks to the funds from selling these two variants, along with the help of his parents and family, that he had been able to purchase this large valley while still in the Golden Core Realm.
The Fire Dragon Bloodline within this Spiritual Chicken had become very dense. Ten years ago, it had successfully undergone the Golden Core Thunder Tribulation, transforming from a Spiritual Chicken into a Fire Flood Dragon. However, this Fire Flood Dragon seemed somewhat underdeveloped. Not only was its size rather small, but it also occasionally exhibited chicken-like movements. This filled Chen Jiuge, who had originally intended to contract it as his Lifebound Spirit Beast, with disdain.
With such a powerful Golden Finger, there’s definitely no shortage of Lifebound Spirit Beasts with strong Bloodlines. Contracting such an embarrassing creature is truly unbearable.
After carefully examining this Fire Flood Dragon, which still exuded a chicken-like aura, Chen Jiuge discovered that the previous infusion of Fire Dragon Bloodline, extracted from about a hundred Spiritual Chickens, had yielded no improvement at all. It seems it has reached its limit.
The Golden Finger is strong, but it has its limitations. For example, besides the restriction on the number of Bloodline extractions, continuously infusing Bloodline from the same type of Spiritual Beast will eventually reach a plateau. After all, Bloodlines are like genes; they don’t improve proportionally to the amount infused, only absorbing deficient parts to complete themselves.
Why not just extract the needed Bloodline from other Spiritual Beasts containing the Fire Dragon Bloodline and then inject it?
The answer was no. If it were truly possible, Chen Jiuge would have soared to incredible heights by now.
It was well known that the core principle of the Myriad Beasts Sect was to enhance Cultivation speed through Lifebound Spirit Beasts. A Lifebound Spirit Beast with an extremely strong Bloodline could increase Cultivation speed by several times.
This was also the reason why Chen Jiuge had achieved the Perfect Golden Core Realm at just over a hundred years of age.
Looking at the Fire Flood Dragon before him with a face full of disdain, two ways to deal with it formed in Chen Jiuge’s mind. The simplest was to gift it to his little sister, who would be arriving soon. After all, it had already transformed into a Flood Dragon. Although the chances of it becoming a true Dragon were very slim, a Flood Dragon was still quite good.
However, gifting this thing to Little Sister seems a bit too shabby. It evolved from a Spiritual Chicken and has low intelligence. Golden Core Level Spiritual Beasts have difficulty even understanding human speech, let alone speaking.
"Forget it. I’ll see if Little Sister wants it. If not, then we’ll figure something out. It’s still a Fire Flood Dragon, after all, so it’s worth a good number of Spirit Stones. I’ll just consider it a reserve fund for now," Chen Jiuge muttered to himself, shaking his head.
"You all are veteran members now. Take good care of these three eggs. Don’t bully them. And especially, keep an eye on this silly Fire Flood Dragon for me. Don’t let him eat them, understand?" Chen Jiuge said loudly to the bizarrely shaped Spiritual Beasts before him.
Although they couldn’t speak yet, they all understood Chen Jiuge’s words and knew who their master was. They nodded in unison.
After giving his instructions and settling the three eggs, Chen Jiuge didn’t plan to stay any longer. He was busy and needed to cultivate that night.
The Myriad Beasts Sect was able to dominate a territory in the Heavenly Realm as its Sect headquarters, commanding numerous small worlds under its banner. Naturally, their Cultivation Techniques possessed unique aspects.
The foundational law mentioned earlier, the Myriad Beasts Secret Method, was one such example. It allowed a Cultivator to contract one Lifebound Spirit Beast at each major Realm. The higher the grade of the spirit beast’s Bloodline and Cultivation, the faster the Cultivator’s cultivation speed.
In addition, Cultivators of the Myriad Beasts Sect could freely choose to become Magic Cultivators, Body Cultivators, Sword Cultivators, or pursue other cultivation paths. The foundational law would not interfere and could even accelerate their cultivation speed. This was one of the reasons the Myriad Beasts Sect could dominate the Heavenly Realm.
As a transmigrator with a Golden Finger, Chen Jiuge was very cautious about preserving his life. He chose Body Cultivation, which offered the strongest survivability, and also practiced as a Beast Master.
The path of a Beast Master was different from the fundamental law of the Myriad Beasts Sect. The fundamental law involved contracting a Lifebound Spirit Beast, whose death could cause great harm to the Cultivator, possibly even leading to their joint demise.
A Beast Master, on the other hand, simply relied on Divine Soul Techniques to control Spiritual Beasts. The death of these Spiritual Beasts would not have any impact on the Beast Master.
This was also the most widespread path within the Myriad Beasts Sect. After all, the Sect was named ’Myriad Beasts’ and naturally had unique advantages regarding Spiritual Beasts. Coupled with the vast number of Spiritual Beasts within the Sect, it was truly a paradise for Beast Masters.
As a forward-thinking young man from modern times, Chen Jiuge naturally chose the easiest path. Avoiding detours is the Righteous Path.
