Chapter 502: Her father

"You are going to bring me to my dad now?" Elliana asked, and Leila looked at her with a soft smile.

Elliana didn’t like this expression. Before coming to the venue of the ceremony of Mr. Marino’s crowning, she had found a note in the middle of the bed.

"If you want to know where your father is locked, you will have to stay away from Sebastian because he stops us from reaching out to you. The choice is yours,"

The note had said.

Elliana didn’t want to believe the note or leave him just because of that, but the incident with Brooklyn and Mr. Marino not accepting her identity aided with her plans.

She was left with no other choice. If she were able to find her father, who was also Nathaniel’s father, she felt like she would be able to return some of the goodwill of the man who devoted his entire life and had made his goal to keep her protected.

She didn’t spend a single second with her father and didn’t even know what he looked like, but Nathaniel saw and spent time with him.

Elliana wanted to see that happy smile of relief on his face that might appear there if he would be able to see his father who he thought was dead.

She knew she wasn’t the best thing that happened to them. Since birth, she has only been bringing problems to his life, and though he doesn’t say those words, that is the ultimate truth.

Thus, she wanted to bring a little happiness to his life.

"I can’t," Leila said, and Elliana looked at the witch with a tilted head.

"You won’t bring me to him?" Elliana asked, her expression neutral.

"I said I will show you where your father is locked. I can’t bring you there because I don’t even know the hidden path to get there. And before you ask anything, let me clear, teleportation doesn’t work there," Leila said and Elliana hummed.

"Show him to me," Elliana whispered.

Leila looked at the girl’s resolute eyes and didn’t know if she was making the right decision by showing her the place.

Azrael had asked her to ask Elliana to stay away from Sebastian using whatever method she could use, and this was the only thing she could come up with since the girl already found out about her mother.

’Circe,’ Elliana said to her powers who immediately nodded, alert, ready to do what Elliana wanted them to do.

"Close your eyes and hold my hand," Leila said, and Elliana did as she was told.

"Aren’t you afraid that I will do something to you?" Leila asked, and Elliana opened her eyes for a brief second to look into the eyes of Leila.

"Do you think I am some dumb heroine of a soap opera who doesn’t know how to use her powers and acts stupid and weak even when she has the energy to destroy the kingdom and suffer at the hands of her enemies?" Elliana asked.

"What do you mean to say?" Leila asked, not liking the way Elliana’s words sounded to her.

"In short, I know you know that I am not weak, and I can take you down any minute with my hellfire. In fact, I won’t even need to use my hellfire. Please don’t think for a second that I am some innocent girl who is afraid of bloodshed. I am ready to shed all the blood in the world as long as it doesn’t belong to someone innocent or my close ones. And you, my dear lady, are none of those," Elliana said with a smile.

"I... Just close your eyes," Leila said, and Elliana placed her hand back in Leila’s once again.

A gasp left her mouth as she felt like she was taken to some kind of realm.

"Step inside this wall," Leila’s voice sounded in Elliana’s head space, and she looked at the opaque jelly-like wall.

She took a deep breath before stepping inside the wall, her eyes searching for anything that might look like a hint of what that place was.

"There is no use looking for anything. It’s a magical realm created away from the actual world," Leila said.

"In fact, you are still standing in the same place in the forest. It’s only your soul that is traveling me. Look in front of you," Leila said, and Elliana looked at the man in front of her.

She tried to step ahead and walk to him, but that was only the limit to which Leila allowed her to see, and Elliana gritted her teeth.

"Dad," Elliana whispered the foreign word that rolled out from her tongue instinctively.

"He can’t hear you," Leila said and Elliana smiled.

She couldn’t see his face because he was facing the other side.

"He will have to," Elliana whispered before closing her eyes and opening them again.

"There is no way a father won’t feel the presence of his child," Elliana whispered, sitting on her knees as she looked at her father.

"Look at me, Dad. It’s me, your daughter," Elliana whispered again.

"I know you tried to sacrifice yourself so that I could be brought into this world. Please look at me just once. Let me at least see what my guardian angel looks like. Dad," Elliana whispered, tears rolling down from her eyes, and it was as if her tears had some kind of connection with her father.

As soon as the first drop of her test dropped on the ground, the man slightly turned his face and looked at her.

Leila gasped.

It was almost as if he was looking straight at them, and she looked down at the girl who was looking at her father, Leila’s hands trembling, making her furrow her brows, unsure of what was happening.

"W-what -" Leila started, but before she could complete her sentence, her gaze fell on the teardrop that fell on the ground of the sacred place.

"H-how is that possible?" Leila looked at the girl, who was becoming more mysterious the more time she spent with her.

She was sure Elliana’s body was still in that forest, then how was it possible for her to drop her tear, a physical entity in this magical place?

"It’s time," Leila announced as Elliana looked into the eyes of the old man who was still so handsome even with all the wrinkles around his skin.

The scars on his hands and neck spoke about years of torture he had gone through, and Elliana clenched her hands around her dress.

"I promise you, dad. I will get you out of here soon. You will celebrate my next birthday with me,"

She promised in her mind, a promise she was intending to keep.

Elliana looked at the witch before she pricked her hand, the blood drooping on the floor of the forest, a smirk forming on her face when Leila realized what the girl was doing. She was marking her territory in the magical realm.

"You -" Leila gritted her teeth.

She was amazed at the girl’s presence of mind and didn’t know what to say to her.

How come she remembered that if a witch bleeds while performing any kind of magic, the spells and magna distort, leaving either a mark, a wound, or disturbing the spell negatively even when she was so emotional? Was that her plan all along? Why was she so smart?

Since they weren’t actually performing any magic, she marked her territory.

Leila quickly brought them back to the forest place.

"What did you do?!" Leila exclaimed as soon as she opened her eyes, and Elliana removed her hand from her grip.

"You are not a fool to not know what I was doing," Elliana said.

"I know what you did. But do you have any idea what will happen now? She will know you want there, and she will change the place of your dad. Do you think it was worth it?" Leila asked, and Elliana scoffed.

"You don’t know how dark magic works, do you?" Elliana turned around and started to walk.

"I didn’t Mark my territory on that place of the magical realm where my dad was captured. I marked my territory on the magical realm itself. It will cause a marking to the entire territory and also -"

"The man inside it," Leila finished her sentence, and Elliana nodded.

"Bingo," she smirked.

"Do you even know who you are fighting against?" Leila asked.

She didn’t like how the girl was only growing stronger with her smartness. She needs to burn all the books she has been reading.

Elliana looked at the witch for a few seconds before humming.

"I don’t know, but I don’t care either. I don’t have anything to lose. I just want to do a few good things for the people who care about me, and after that, I am ready to fight whoever it is," Elliana took a deep breath, noticing how Leila vanished into thin air without saying anything.

As soon as Leila vanished, the strong facade Elliana had put earlier, crumbled and her legs gave out.

She was about to fall to the ground when two strong arms wrapped around her body, keeping her in place and she closed her eyes instinctively.

"You won’t let me fall ever?" She asked, a tear rolling from the corner of her eyes.

"Never," Nathaniel smiled.
