Chapter 370: The urge to fight back

Elliana gasped.

Her mind was going in denial. This couldn’t happen to her.

So many bad things happened to her. She has taken the physical abuse to a level where the thought of dying looked like a better option, and she would’ve done so if not for her will to live and find her mother, and ask why she left her in this cursed world all alone.

Why did she give birth to her if she didn’t want her either and why the hell has she not tried to check on her even once after she practically threw her out of her life? Why didn’t she abort her the moment she found out about her?

Elliana has suffered many things.

However, what her stepmother was trying to do topped it all today.

’We can’t take it anymore. This is inhumane. You don’t need to suffer all this, Princess. We don’t need your orders to do something. Let us crush this woman and show her who she is messing with,’ Circe growled as they saw their human struggling under Marla’s hold, trying her best to flail her legs.

Elliana sobbed even more helplessly.

’No. You won’t do anything. I can’t have her find out about my identity. If she did, the peace treaty would be out of the question. Only 23 days are left. I can only have his love and care for 23 more days before he leaves me for good,’ Elliana thought, her heart aching even more.

’I can’t let anything happen that will take away my only chance at love and happiness, that will snatch him away from me earlier than the decided time. Please I beg you, Circe. Please don’t do anything that will snatch him away from me,’ Elliana shed more tears, her eyes widening when Marla moved the stick.

"Mmmmhhhhh!" Elliana tried to scream, but the drop of blood rolled down her thighs, making her wince and cry in pain.

Marla’s hand on Elliana’s mouth tightened as the girl struggled under her.

She has only rubbed the broken rough part of the stick on the inner side of her legs, right beside her womanhood which sliced her skin slightly and a drop of blood rolled down her thighs.

"Mmmhhh!" Elliana moaned in pain.

She closed her eyes and forced her mind to come back to life and give her strength and fight back.

After all those times she trained her girls to fight back her tormenters, she can’t let something like this happen to her. What kind of example would she set? She keeps telling them to fight against all odds, so how can she give up so easily?

No. She wouldn’t be able to live with it. The memories of all the abuse she took still haunt her. If her stepmother got along with her way and r*ped her with this stick then-

If she didn’t fight today, she would be left broken for the rest of her life.

Elliana finally gathered all the strength she could and kicked Marla as hard as she could, looking at her in horror in disgust.

"Y-you!" Marla shouted. This was the first time Elliana retaliated like this.

This wasn’t a mere retaliation.

The girl dared to kick her?! Marla’s eyes visibly turned dark and her nose flared in pure anger.

Elliana looked at the woman in front of her in pure disbelief as she crawled away from her, her heart drumming against her chest loudly. Was it possible for a human to look this horrifying in anger?

She would’ve believed her stepmother was possessed by some ugly demoness if she didn’t know that her stepmother always hated her.

"How dare you kick me! Do you want to die?! You pathetic b*tch!" Marla stood quickly and lunged at Elliana, grabbing her foot and pulling her close.

She pulled Elliana’s hair, making the girl yelp in pain.

"Do you really think you can run away from me? From your cursed destiny? This is your fate, you bitch. This is what you deserve for being born and coming to this world. You have no idea how much hatred I have in my heart for you. I only wanted to talk today. But you - you spoiled it, just like you spoiled my life,"

Marla pulled Elliana up and pushed her face into the mattress to muffle her screams, making the girl flail her legs as it became harder for her to breathe, black dots appearing in her vision.

Meanwhile, Sebastian, who was walking around the kingdom with King James and the council head, scoffed at the words of peace and ideas they were preaching for a better cohabitation.

"It’s amazing how you have such good ideas for cohabitation. Though all of them sound fake," Sebastian didn’t hesitate to voice out his thoughts.

King James and the human council head immediately paused, looking at the prince with raised brows.

"Fake? Are you trying to say we are lying to you?" The council head asked, anger starting to brew in his heart.

Sebastian looked at King James, but rather than reacting to his words as he had expected from the King of the Hunter bloodline, James just looked at her calmly.

"Would you like to elaborate on what part of the suggestion felt fake to you?" King James asked in his neutral voice.

Sebastian hummed before turning around as he continued walking with them.

After a pause, Sebastian started speaking -

"I am sure the vampire kingdom isn’t the only one who has found out information about a human rogue named Gambit. We heard he is preparing armies of rogues against the vampire kingdom. We are not fools.

No rogue team as large as Gambit is preparing, can stay hidden for so long without the knowledge of the council or the kingdom they are staying near," Sebastian paused, looking at King James.

The council head became visibly shocked. They hadn’t expected the prince to know about Gambit so soon.

The rogue and his team were expanding in the southern regions of the human kingdom on the east side of the hunter’s bloodline, and this prince was right, they knew about it.

In fact, they were hoping to secretly have them expand even further so they could use the element of surprise against the vampire kingdom and attack them when they least expected it.

It was the orders from the emperor too. And everyone supported it.

Gambit was a man of cunning plots. He was known for his evil plots and for taking over around 57 rogue groups merely in three months all because of his strategies and even the emperor had high hopes for him.

The council head wasn’t sure if the information provided by Gambit was exactly worth celebrating since he had yet to verify it, but Gambit told them he had gotten a hold of the rogue vampires making formula and they were readily hiring and abducting weak vampires for it.

The council head snapped out of his thoughts when he saw the vampire prince moving again.

He looked at James, who sighed.

King James was always against this idea of rogue attacking anyway. And why wouldn’t he? He already sacrificed his precious daughter in the name of the peace treaty, how could he bear them acting against it on their behalf when the vampires weren’t doing anything?

"We are sorry for that, Prince Sebastian. We have found out about this information recently. Apparently, some human groups are not happy with the peace treaty and want to retaliate against the emperor and vampire kingdom," James said, making the council head quirk his brows.

He didn’t know if what James was saying was true, or if he was just pretending his genuineness.

As far as he remembered, Marla definitely knew everything about the rogues and their daughter Madeline even tried to get Elliana on their side, but failed terribly.

Was James really a blind and oblivious king? The council head thought in his head before keeping quiet, not wanting to say anything that would make matters worse.

It would be better if the king handled the situation.

They can’t afford the vampires to know about their plans so soon and act against them. They won’t be able to survive even a month if the vampires retaliate.

They weren’t ready with all the equipment and strategies they had in mind.

"I hope you understand that the hunter bloodline doesn’t have any hand in this. If I really wanted to side with rogues, I would never give away my daughter just like that. We assure you we will go to the bottom of the matter and try to solve it," James ended his sentence.

Sebastian looked at him up and down before humming vaguely.

"I don’t blame you. There are a lot of things you don’t know about or are quite oblivious about," Sebastian said, freezing James with his indirect attack.

King James wasn’t stupid to not realize what this prince was talking about. He was probably trying to hint how his wife was a power above him and basically kept him under control because she was the emperor’s sister.

"I understand what you are -"

"Aaaaaaa!"

Sebastian’s body became rigid as he heard his wife’s faint screaming, the beast inside him immediately going into alert mode.

"Princess!" Sebastian shouted towards the palace, his growl so loud and dangerous that all the human guards who had been following them fell backward with the intensity of his voice.
