Chapter 266: Can you jump down the cliff with me?
"Princess, wait up," Sebastian rushed behind her, stopping when he saw her looking at the horses.
All the cousins who were done with their tea and wanted to enjoy some sports since it had been a long time since all of them gathered, walked past Sebastian.
"It looks like the princess wants to go horse riding, Sebastian," Marcus teased.
Sebastian clenched his hands.
He could see it too. Unfortunately, the animals are usually afraid of him, and they don’t let him near them without going haywire.
His mother used to help him do these things earlier. He hasn’t ridden a horse since then.
"Who is up for a race?" Victoria smiled with Brooklyn as they walked to the horses.
Everyone raised their hands, and Sebastian looked at Elliana who turned to him with a soft smile.
Her eyes were clearly saying that she wanted to ride it too.
"Do you know how to ride a horse?" Sebastian asked her, unwilling to let that smile falter from her face.
"Not really," she smiled helplessly.
"Sebastian can’t ride a horse. Come with me. I’ll help you ride it," Vincenzo said, extending his hand for her to take, and Elliana looked at the hand before looking at Sebastian and shaking her head.
"I want to ride with him only," she said, and Sebastian’s heart skipped a beat.
With little hope, he started walking towards the horses, who immediately started neighing loudly, and he paused.
It wasn’t in his hands. He can’t remove the fear in these animals in a few seconds. And if he tried to be forceful, the horses might overreact and hurt the princess in return.
He smiled inwardly, the thought of having this horse’s face crushed by his hands appearing in his head before he sighed to get over it.
"Vincenzo is right, Princess. You should ride the horse with him. Don’t worry. I trust him. He won’t harm you or let you get hurt," Sebastian gently pushed her forward.
Elliana stepped ahead, looking at the man who clearly wanted to do this too but was helpless, and walked to the horses.
After she suspected she was probably a witch, she read many books about witches and understood that the witches were protectors of nature. They were like a good between nature and the gods to maintain peace in this supernatural world.
The horses would trust her naturally.
"I will ride with Prince Vincenzo later. I am sure it would be fun with him, and I know he will never let me get hurt," Elliana smiled at Vincenzo, who smiled softly at her.
"You come with me," Elliana touched the horse’s head and turned to Sebastian.
"Mr. Marino, trust me," Elliana blinked at him innocently, and he looked at the horse that was looking at him neutrally.
"It’s better I don’t. They fear me, Princess. It’s not something we can change -"
Elliana tried to jump on the horse, her legs slipping and she was about to fall to the ground when in a split second, Sebastian rushed to her and held her in his arms, looking into her eyes.
"Are you okay?" Sebastian looked at her, and Elliana smiled.
"See, I told you. It would be fine," Elliana held his hand and placed it on the horse, making him raise his brows. The horse flinched slightly but didn’t have any strong reaction like earlier.
Stephano, who was watching everything unfolding in front of him, looked at the earring in his hand before smirking. The more he watched her, the stronger his suspicion became.
This girl, he can only pray that he is wrong because if he is right about her, things would go downhill at a pace that no one would be able to handle. She is falling in love with Sebastian, and if she is what he thinks she is, she is going to get her heart broken.
And when the hearts of such people break, they rain havoc on the world.
"Will you help me up now?" Elliana blinked at Sebastian, who was touching a horse without forcing it for the first time after his mother died, and looked at her in a daze.
His mother used to calm the horses just so that he could ride them with other brothers and sisters of his.
Feeling his heart clogged, he took a deep breath before nodding. He helped her up on the horse before jumping on it and sitting behind her.
"Well, let’s go," Angelo commented, and everyone pulled the ropes of the horses before setting off.
"Do you want to handle the ropes," Sebastian whispered into her ears, and Elliana who realized he was wearing his half mask again, making his hot breath blow in her ears, giggled softly.
"Hehe, okay," She held the ropes softly before she patted the horse’s back with her legs, indicating for it to start moving.
She let go of the ropes and bent forward before looking at the princes and princesses who were riding ahead of them.
"We will lose it at this pace," She murmured and was about to hold the ropes when Sebastian bent slightly, his chest pressing on her back, making her take a shaky breath when he held the ropes and placed his head on her shoulders.
"We won’t," he said before kissing her earlobes.
He pulled on the ropes and the horse neighed, making her raise her brows as it picked its pace, making her smile.
She placed her hand on the horse’s back, giving it more energy, smiling when the speed increased even more, and they started surpassing Sebastian’s cousins one by one.
"This feels amazing," she said, closing her eyes, and Sebastian looked at the girl, who was inhaling nature’s fresh air with a soft smile on her face.
"It is," he whispered, looking ahead. Elliana’s eyes widened at the thrill she was feeling.
"Mr. Marino! Weeeee!" Elliana shouted, elated at the adrenaline rush when she saw the trees passing in a blur, unaware that it wasn’t Sebastian who was riding fast, but her powers that were energizing the horse even more.
"What was the sound? Do it again," Sebastian mused.
"Weeeeeeeeeeeee!" Elliana shouted, and Sebastian chuckled at her before shaking his head and kissing her shoulders.
"Weeeeeeeeeee!" she did it again.
"Stupid Princess," he commented, holding the ropes close to her abdomen so that he was almost hugging her, the sound of her heartbeat resounding in his head and against his body even with the high wind and adrenaline rush.
They kept riding until they reached the top of the mountains.
They stopped the horse suddenly when they saw a cliff ahead, who stopped with a loud neighing sound.
Sebastian and Elliana who hadn’t expected the impact to be that big, jerked forward and were thrown ahead.
Sebastian quickly grabbed her mid-air as they fell on the ground.
"The fuck!"
Sebastian waited for a few seconds before removing his hand from around her when he felt her trembling form.
Was she hurt? He widened his eyes and sat quickly to look at her, but when he saw she was barely controlling her laughs, he sighed and looked at the girl, flicking her nose, which made her laugh even more.
"Are you okay?" He asked when he looked at her scratched hand, and she grinned.
"This has been one of the best things in my life. I loved it," Elliana said, her smile so genuine and bright that it brought a smile to his face.
Everyone who was racing reached the cliff and looked at the youngest prince and princess on the ground covered in soil and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the girl who was smiling even when she was bleeding.
"The way they left us all behind, they acted like they were some kind of pros at this. Look at them now," Santo commented, and Vincenzo pressed his lips into a thin line before walking to them, his nose glaring because of the smell of the blood.
"Are you guys okay?" He asked, and Elliana beamed at him.
"Awesome," she blinked taking Vincenzo’s extended hand and standing, patting her clothes.
"But my dress got spoiled," she pouted, and Sebastian, who was still on the ground, rolled his eyes.
"And what about your hand that got scratched?" Vincenzo asked.
"Oh this, Mr. Marino will just lick it and make it alright," Elliana said shamelessly before realizing her mistake.
Heat immediately crept up her neck and face and she looked down at her feet, making Sebastian shake his head at her again.
"I will," he bent and picked her up in his arms.
"Want to feel more adventurous?" He asked Elliana, who grinned and nodded at him without a second thought.
"Let’s go," he kissed her forehead.
"Where?" She asked, confused.
"You trust me?" Sebastian asked as he looked down from the cliff at the flowing river.
"More than I do to myself," Elliana whispered. ’And if something goes wrong, I can always make it right,’ she thought in her head.
"Great," Sebastian said, and without a second thought, he jumped down from the cliff, making everyone look at him in horror.
"Sebastian!" Vincenzo shouted.
Even Stephano widened his eyes and rushed to the edge of the cliff.
"Aaaaaaaa!" Elliana screamed because of the adrenaline rush.
He literally took trust to another level. Elliana felt wronged.
"This bastard!" Stephano growled before he jumped down the cliff, followed by Vincenzo and Angelo.
"What the hell is going on here?" Marcus looked at Matilda who shrugged, unsure.
