Chapter 261: She is quite a mystery

Vincenzo froze in his place when she asked him this question directly as if she knew he was the one who killed that prince.

He didn’t say anything. he narrowed his eyes, before plucking a rose and turning to her.

He grabbed her hand and placed the blue rose in her hand before gazing into her eyes.

"If you think I am the one who killed the prince, you are wrong. As angry as I was yesterday, and I agree that I was probably the last one to meet him too because I threatened him if he ever dared to come close to you, I’d stab his heart with my bare hands, I still didn’t kill him," Vincenzo said, his stern gaze honest, and Elliana took a deep breath.

"I wasn’t asking about that," She turned around, looking back at the rose field.

"I am just asking how the hell you keep your face straight and hide the fact that you were the one who met him the last," Elliana asked, a smirk lurking on her face.

"So you don’t doubt me? That I can be the one to kill him?" Vincenzo asked, visibly surprised, and Elliana smiled softly.

"If it had been Mr. Marino in your place, I am sure I would’ve seen a dead body hanging at our door that Prince Harry shouldn’t have crossed, and the hands twisted that the prince shouldn’t have used on me.

If it had been Mr. Marino, I wouldn’t have to believe it. I would’ve known that it was him. That’s how much he cares about me and is possessive of his possessions," Elliana smiled, her envy and love for Mr. Marino dripping from her words.

"You, on the other hand, are a family-oriented person. I had observed this when you used to talk about it when we used to meet earlier too. That’s why I knew you wouldn’t do anything like that, and it’s the right thing.

However, I won’t lie. Mr. Marino might be the most toxic person in this entire nation, it’s his toxicity that makes me obsessed with him," Elliana smiled.

Her words were filled with truth. There were no lies to it, but for some reason, Vincenzo hated that she was so clear about Sebastian, and even though the act she was talking of was inhumane, she made it sound like it was some kind of activity that a lover must do for her.

And for some reason, a family-lover person like him didn’t like the fact that she didn’t think the same for him.

His hands clenched and he hummed distantly.

"Elliana, sweetheart, let’s have breakfast," they heard Freya’s voice, and she smiled at Vincenzo.

"Thank you for the rose," she bowed at Vincenzo before turning around and leaving.

She wasn’t a fool.

Elliana knew exactly what she was doing. She found peace in it. She found happiness seeing how everyone was trying their best to find who was the culprit when she knew exactly what happened to that prince. The prince who touched the lava that was always brewing inside her.

Elliana smirked and shook her head as she entered the hall, looking as innocent as ever while she looked at the entire family with a sense of mockery in her.

No one will harm her? No will touch her here and they will protect her? Useless lies.

She sat in the seat to have her breakfast, smiling immediately when Sebastian walked to the seat and sat beside her.

"Let’s begin," Abramo said as soon as Vincenzo sat in his seat.

"So have we found anything?" Aubrey asked, and Abramo shook his head.

"I think he hasn’t died here. Maybe someone attacked him here and took him somewhere else. We have sent the team to look into the forests and nearby areas. Honestly, I have lost hope," Abramo said.

"Abramo, how can you say that? Would you have said the same words if any of our princes disappeared overnight!" Aubrey raised her voice in disbelief.

"I am sorry, honey, but I can’t care for a prince who was rearing rogue vampires. The vampires that we had caught were appearing mysteriously, he was the one who was rearing and funding it. And all of it for nothing but just under his sick idea of revenge from Sebastian," Abramo said, and everyone’s cutlery paused as they looked at their King in shock.

"Rogue vampires? Like the one we have caught in the dungeons?" Stephano asked.

"Those vampires eating vampires?" Santo asked.

"Yes. Who knows if it’s one of the rogue vampires who took him away," Abramo shrugged.

Sebastian observed everyone’s reaction to see if he could get a hint that someone else was also involved in this conspiracy. Almost everyone looked shocked.

And while everyone was looking at their grandpa in shock, there was only one person on the table who was still eating and Sebastian placed his hand on his face, suppressing his urge to laugh at the girl, who was so immersed in eating that she didn’t even realize everyone was now looking at her.

"Would you like some sandwiches?" Sebastian whispered into her ears.

"Mmmm, sure," she said, finally looking up at him, her mouth full of food and her cheeks puffed as she looked at everyone who was looking back at her, making her gulp.

She turned towards Sebastian again, awkwardness clear in her eyes, and he sighed before wiping her lips with his thumb and putting that thumb in his mouth, making heat creep up her neck as she coughed in embarrassment.

"Easy there," He patted her back, handing her the juice, and she drank it, glaring at him, knowing all too well that he did it deliberately.

"Geez, can you two take your drama somewhere else? We get it. You are a happy couple, so you don’t need to pretend to be one. It’s making me gag," Victoria said, and the little smile that was itching on Sebastian’s face immediately vanished.

Elliana wiped her lips and sighed, looking at her table, placing her hand on Sebastian’s and clenching it.

It was hard to decipher right now if she was calming herself or the prince.

Sebastian looked at her soft hand that was grabbing him and looked at the princess who was looking down, like a cute kid who was told to not misbehave.

His hard eyes softened.

"I apologize, Sister Victoria," Sebastian said, his apology shocking everyone on the table.

Even Elliana looked up from the table into his eyes, and Sebastian blinked at her as if telling her ’he got this’.

Vincenzo, on the other hand, who was observing the interaction, took a sip of his juice with a poker face.

"Sebastian, you don’t need to -" Aubrey started, but Sebastian said again.

"I apologize that our interaction is making you gag. We Shouldn’t be like this. It’s our fault. We forgot that some people here are so used to their toxic culture and getting roughened up by their partners that when they see a couple taking care of each other, they feel like gagging," Sebastian looked straight into Victoria’s eyes, the girl’s eyes immediately turning red.

"What did you say?" Victoria’s voice was a shade deeper today, and everyone understood that she was truly angry this time.

"I said the truth. You said something like this last time when you visited us at our home. What is your problem? Can’t digest that a man can take care of his partner? Why does everything I do become a hot topic for you? Why do you keep finding fault in her? It’s been like this ever since you met her," Sebastian closed his eyes, his fingers tightening around Elliana’s.

"Why can’t you digest that I can take care of my human bride? I understand that it’s hard for you to understand what mutual care is.

Do I really need to pretend to be caring when I am with her? She entices that feeling in me. And if you can’t feel that, maybe your heart is darker than mine," Sebastian said and stood from his place.

"Sebastian, don’t leave the table -"

"I have had enough. If you want to keep calling me here to insult me, you guys better enjoy it among yourselves. Grandpa gave her to me as a responsibility, and she is mine. If you are going to insult her, I won’t take it lightly. So I should leave before I snap a few heads for real," Sebastian turned around and was about to leave when Elliana held his hand.

"Don’t go. Sit," Elliana looked at him pleadingly, and he ruffled his hair before letting out a low rumbling sound.

"Do you know what you are doing?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana nodded.

"Just because of one person, you can’t neglect the efforts of the entire family who is trying to accept me like I am," she whispered to him, unfazed by his low snarl.

"Please, Mr. Marino. It will make me really happy. I don’t always get these family dinners," She held her biceps, blinking at him innocently.

Everyone looked at her. They didn’t really expect her to be able to coax him.

Thus, when Sebastian growled loudly in frustration and kicked a chair away in anger and she didn’t flinch away from him, they were quite taken aback.

"Fine. But only for you," his words were clear, and she looked into his eyes for a few seconds before chuckling, making him raise his brows.

"You just kicked my chair away," she pointed to the chair, and he looked at her before sighing inwardly.

This girl!

"I did," he didn’t elaborate before he sat on his chair.

Elliana shook her head and was about to go to pick her chair when to everyone’s surprise, he pulled her and made her sit on his lap, his gaze provocative towards Victoria who was still seething and everyone smiled inwardly, continuing their breakfast.

Meanwhile, Stephano looked at the human girl with piqued curiosity before looking at the small earring in his hand that he found where Prince Harry’s hand was found. She was quite a mystery, wasn’t she?
