The Masked prince
Chapter 90: Finally Freed

Chapter 90: Finally Freed

Regan was looking at Evelyn and he could sense the change in her. When he saw her hope-filled eyes going dim, his heart clenched tightly and he looked at the shop owner coldly and he said sharply

"Why is it taking so much time?"

The shop owner trembled and the key almost fell down from his hands.

Gulping down his saliva to moisten his dry throat, he answered nervously

"Your Highness...It had been many years. Perhaps the hole needs to be cleaned. The key is not going inside properly."

"Then clean it."

Regan said sharply and the shop owner immediately nodded his head.

"Yes, Your Highness."

The worker brought something sharp even before his master ordered him to do so.

"Clean it."

The shop owner stepped aside and ordered him. The worker looked at his master with wide eyes, however, seeing his glare he shut his mouth.

The prince was looking at him so coldly and continuously, how would he able to do this!

Regardless of what it was, in the end, the worker had to obey his master.

He smiled nervously and said

"Can you please sit down here?"

Evelyn didn’t have any hope now. Still, she sat down on the chair that had been brought for the prince actually.

She sat down and the worker asked her to keep her wrist on the armrest. Then he invaded the hole with the sharp needle in his hand and tried to clean it.

After every few moments, he would turn around the wrist and a powdery substance would fall down from the hole.

Evelyn had worked hard for so many years. There was no doubt that while working things must have gone inside the hole and filled it. Hence, it was difficult to open the black band now.

Almost fifteen minutes as the worker continued to clean the hole.

When he saw that there was no longer coming out anything, he stepped aside and the shop owner took his place.

The shop owner again put the key inside the hole and turned around it.

Evelyn was no longer focused on him.

There was no expression on her face and her green eyes were blank. It could be said that she had left the hope of getting freed completely.

She didn’t want to hope because when it doesn’t get fulfilled, it hurt very much.

But when she was thinking all this, she suddenly heard a ’click’.

The place where the air never touched the skin, she could suddenly feel the air striking the same place suddenly.

With her eyes wide, she looked down at her wrist...which no longer have that black band.

The same band now lay on her feet.

She couldn’t believe it all. She was finally free. Was this some sort of dream? If it was, then she wished that this dream would never come to an end.

Her eyes unconsciously started to fill with tears and her lips quivered. With her other trembling hand, she touched her wrist slowly.

The skin of her wrist where the black band used to be looked slightly different from the skin of her other body parts. Though it was also a part of her body, it looked completely different. It was because the black band had become her second skin in the past few years.

Regan who was seeing her couldn’t help but smile but his smile was a little sad.

"Your Highness"

He heard the shop owner and his eyes went cold as he looked at him.

The shop owner gulped in fear but still said

"This contract Your Highness..."

Regan stretched his hand to take the paper from the shop owner. Without even looking at him, he torn it down and threw it away. When the shop owner saw this, he couldn;y say anything and watch only stupefied. However, when he saw the prince turning around without giving him anything, his eyes widened with panic and he blurted out.

"Your Highness...my money..."

To buy the contract back, one needed to pay the slave trader and since he had bought this girl first and made her a slave, he should be paid.

Regan again turned to look at the shop owner coldly. The shop owner trembled under his gaze

Just when the shop owner was about to apologize, Regan threw a heavy pouch on him.

The shop owner’s eyes widened and then brightened. He didn’t even open it as he thought that it must be filled with gold.

He kneeled down on the ground and thanked the prince again and again.

Regan didn’t pay him any more attention and looked at Evelyn as he said

"Let’s go."

Evelyn came out of her trance and wiped her tears immediately. She stood up from the chair and followed the prince out...still in daze regarding whatever happened.

On the other hand, the shop owner waited until the prince completely disappeared from his eyes.

After that, he sent away his workers and then hiding behind his desk, he finally opened the heavy pouch.

However, when he opened them, his face went pale and his eyes went wide.

There were no coins inside the pouch but stones.

No wonder it was so heavy.

It was Regan’s thought of putting stones inside the pouch. He had actually thought of exactly how much money he should take with himself.

But it was thinking just how much Evelyn would cost! The answer was simple.

Evelyn was priceless.

How could he buy her using a few coins! No amount of coins could equate to the girl he loved. And why should he give any happiness to the people who had been the source of her sufferings.

Hence, he asked Elias to fill the pouch with some small fine stones.

The shop owner cried without tears.

He didn’t dare to go behind the prince and ask him for compensation. He still wanted to live.

He could only eat this lose silently and wish that the prince would never come again to his shop to free any slave.

Otherwise he would soon be begging on the streets.
