Chapter 269: Regan’s Thoughts

Regan was angry when he saw Lavo.

He wanted Lavo to stay with Evelyn to protect her. But he was still amidst the war and he couldn’t do anything.

Fortunately, due to Lavo,he was able to kill the soldiers on his way soon and reach the commander who was guiding them.

Somewhere Regan hoped that it would be Raphael.

He would be able to end everything here only.

But he was bound to be disappointed when he found out that it was someone else. He was one of the ministers in the Royal Court. Regan didn’t know his name but one thing that he knew was that he was Diana’s father.

Diana was a princess from a big kingdom, Astire, and her father had been the King. In other words, the man in front of him used to be the King of a big empire once.

But in front of his daughter wishes, who wanted to marry Derrick, he gave up his empire and agreed to become a mere noble in Derrick’s court ...just so Derrick would agree to marry Diana.

That’s what they said. But Regan believed that he perhaps knew that winning against Alfaros was impossible so he came out with such a proposal.

He also took a promise from Derrick that Diana would be his rightful legal Queen. That he could never demote her to a low rank and any other woman if he married would always be low in rank than Diana.

The promise was too much and Derrick had only two choices in front of him at that time.

One was to have a war with Astaire and the other was to stop the war and marry Diana.

Derrick chose the latter. Astaire was merged with Alfaros and Diana became Derrick’s queen.

Hence, even though Derrick had two other Queens that is Eugine and Regina. They were always lower in Rank than Diana.

Diana’s father was still the most powerful noble of the Royal Court and easily controlled many things.

Regan knew very well why Diana was not punished when she killed his mother.

It was because of this man and his daughter that his mother died and didn’t get justice till today.

Even though he was not the King, he held the power of a king. He had many people backing him and if Derrick harmed Diana then he could seek out the help of the other four kingdoms claiming how Derrick behaved with his daughter even after taking a huge empire in return.

Regan didn’t have any evidence but he had heard with his own ears that day. Raphael had mocked him.

"My mother killed your mother. I will also kill you and Rex one day."

And Raphael didn’t look as if he was lying. Combined with that had been the pale expression on Diana’s face at Raphael’s words as she tried to shut his mouth/

But the deed was already done.

He was furious when Derrick even though standing there said nothing.

He didn’t even look surprised which indicated that he knew everything. He questioned Derrick only to get no response.

From that day, Regan despised Derrick.

He despised Dianna but he still tried to contain himself because Rex stopped him.

He controlled himself for Rex but he could no longer do so when Dianna had her people put fire to Rex’s chambers.

That day he had gone unconscious after saving Rex but when he woke up, he investigated the incident on his own.

He was only twelve but the fire of revenge made him act more mature than his age.

In the end, he was able to find out. It was Diana.

With his burnt face, he went to Diana’s chambers that day.

He liked the fear in her eyes when she saw him though he knew she was scared of his burnt face and not him.

Regan knew that Diana liked his beauty so he destroyed the very thing she loved about herself.

He snatched her beauty from her.

On the other hand, Davies also spotted Regan. His eyes went cold when he saw Regan.

Davies loved his daughter Diana who was the last memory of his wife. But because of the man standing in front of him, he had not seen his daughter for years now.

After having her face burnt, Diana never stepped out of her chambers and didn’t allow anyone except Raphael to see her.

Davies hated Regan to death.

He had always wanted to kill Regan. He even sent his people to the border where Regan was training to kill him but Regan always came out safe every time somehow.

Today, he will kill Regan with his own hands.

Hence, Regan and Davies fought.

Davies attacked Regan’s chest many times and Regan knew from this that Davies knew about his injury.

He still protected his wound well and was able to leave Davies in a vulnerable situation.

A few moments later, Davies was lying on the ground. His sword lay a few steps away.

Regan looked at him coldly. Just when Davies was thinking that Regan was going to kill him, Regan stepped back.

Davies saw this as a chance to pick up his sword and attack Regan.

But before he could do so, he heard a growl and then his body was torn as Lavo made him his food.

The commander died and there was no one to lead the army. The soldiers dispersed away here and there.

Regan knew that Rex could manage the situation now so he decided to go and look for Evelyn.

He didn’t even know where she was.

So he asked Lavo to take him to Evelyn.

Lavo could easily sense Evelyn and took him to an inn.

Regan was relieved to see that Evelyn was staying at an inn.

She must be safe. He had thought but when he stepped inside the inn, he realized how wrong he had been.

He took out his sword as he killed Raphael’s soldiers.

Lavo helped him without asking.

Regan followed the soldiers’ dead bodies and found two more of them standing in front of a room. From that, he knew that Evelyn was inside that room.

After killing the soldiers, he pushed open the door.

"Evelyn!"

He called out in a concern-filled voice.

But what he saw inside the room shocked him.

He had never expected to see Raphael’s dead body in front of his eyes.

More than that, he was concerned when he saw the blood stains on Evelyn’s dress. As he moved towards his wife in worry, Regan noticed suddenly how her body started to slide towards the ground.

So he took a long stride and covered the distance between them, taking her in his arms.

Tucking her hair back behind her ears, he looked at her pale face and his heart clenched at the sight.

Then he picked her in his arms and left the inn without worrying about anything else.
