Chapter 178: Regan Being Shameless

"Evelyn, I have been thinking this since morning. Lady Irwin might have been sent by His Majesty intentionally. He might have doubted that your and Regan’s marriage is just a pretense. Therefore she will observe yours and Regan’s and each and every move."

"I have called Lady Irwin here so that she could see on her own that you and Regan are not pretending. What I mean to say is that...act all lovey-dovey in front of her. In other words, act like newlyweds."

Evelyn looked blank with so much information. She actually registered what Rex said but she lost him at his last few words.

Lovey-dovey....

She swallowed as she looked at the prince who looked completely calm and even said

"I understand Rex. Don’t worry."

Evelyn swallowed again. It was for her all of it was done. So she also was supposed to say something. Hence, Evelyn gathered her courage and nodded her head firmly as she said

"I also understand, Your Highness."

Rex nodded in satisfaction. When Evelyn was not noticing, he even winked at Regan who shook his head while smiling.

Inside the same dining room, Elias looked confused by this interaction. He had been actually confused by everything since his master’s marriage.

Still, he couldn’t help but ask out aloud.

"What if Lady Irwin didn’t come?"

Not only Rex but even Regan looked at Elias coldly this time. Elias shivered under the cold gazes wondering what was wrong with he just said.

Was it not a good thing if Lady Irwin declined the offer? Then his master and Evelyn wouldn’t have to pretend.

"She will come."

Rex said as he looked at Elias sharply.

"She will come certainly. She won’t miss such a chance to confirm whether Regan and Evelyn’s marriage is a pretense or reality."

Elias had actually many more questions but the way his master was looking at him told him that he better keep his mouth shut. Fortunately, he listened to his intuition and kept his mouth shut.

As Rex had predicted, Lady Irwin as well as Laurel stepped inside the dining room a few moments later.

Both ladies curtsied when they saw the princes and said

"Thanking Your Highness for the offer."

As the first prince, Rex waved his hand and said

"No need for formalities. It is dinner time."

Lady Irwin smiled politely and sat on one of the seats. On the other hand, Laurel looked towards Regan and her lips were pressed in a thin line when she saw that Evelyn was seated beside him.

In the end, she could only sit beside Lady Irwin silently.

"Let’s start since everything is here."

Rex said and a maid started to serve the meal in everyone’s plates one by one.

When she was about to put meat in Evelyn’s plate, Regan stopped her immediately and said

"She doesn’t eat meat."

The maid apologized immediately. Regan waved his hand and said

"Serve others. I will serve her."

Evelyn’s eyes widened immediately and she wanted to refuse. However, she suddenly remembered Rex’s words and shut her mouth.

Her eyes were filled with conflict when she actually saw Regan serving the dishes in her plate.

However, Regan didn’t stop here.

He even held her hand which was on the table and said

"Evelyn, aren’t your hands hurting after practicing? Let me feed you by my hands."

Evelyn had shouted no if she had not remembered Rex’s words. She could only watch as the prince actually fed her.

In the room, she didn’t feel embarrassed when he had fed her like this but now in front of so many people...

Evelyn couldn’t stop the blush that spread on her cheek and neck.

Rex stifled his laughter. He never knew that Regan understood the meaning behind the words shameless so nicely.

On the other hand, Laurel watched this scene in shock and anger.

She couldn’t believe that a Royal Prince was behaving like this. A prince doing these things for his wife was no less a shock and the fact that Evelyn was a lowly slave only made the things more infuriating.

However, Laurel herself knew what exactly her feelings were.

She actually wished to be at Evelyn’s place.

No one had ever treated her with so much gentleness. And yet Evelyn....being a slave was getting the treatment that every woman in this world would desire.

She was actually envious of Evelyn.

Before she wished to be Regan’s wife because she knew that her father wanted this. Because she knew that Regan was the future King of Alfaros.

However, now...now she wanted to be Regan’s wife because she wanted that gentleness with which he was treating Evelyn for herself.

So what if he had a hideous scar on his face? He wore the mask that covered the hideous scar. There was nothing to worry about.

She had decided.

She would get Regan either by hook or by crook.

On the other hand, Rex was noticing Lady Irwin’s gaze on Regan and Evelyn. Before he was not sure but now he was.

Lady Irwin was indeed here to see what he had thought. She was sent here by Derrick with a purpose and that was to find out whether Regan really loved Evelyn or he had just married her to save her from Arthur.

Rex sighed as he wondered whether Derrick was now unable to understand Regan’s feelings as well.

At the same time, his eyes were cold.

He didn’t do anything when Derrick blamed him for everything. He took all the blames silently. He even bore the accusations of having greed for the throne that belonged to Regan.

It surely hurt him but he didn’t utter a single word in front of Derrick because somewhere Rex could understand Derrick’s dilemma.

However, if Derrick tried to separate Regan and Evelyn...then he would not sit silent.

Evelyn was Regan’s happiness....a light that his brother had found after so many years of darkness.

He could see his old brother Regan coming back.

And he was not going to let Derrick do anything which would Regan back to the darkness he was surrounded by before.

No one could separate Regan and Evelyn as long as he was there.

Not even the King himself.
