The Martial Unity -
Chapter 3215: Evolved Flora
Chapter 3215: Evolved Flora
"I’m glad that you are optimistic," Rui replied to her. "I understand you have great hopes for the future of human civilization. I also understand you disapprove of our violent tendencies. However..."
His tone grew more serious.
"We are a Martial civilization, do not forget that. We are not dark elves, we are human beings. That means that we will never be like you, no matter what. We do not expect dark elves to adopt our ways and start wielding Martial Art, and likewise, we hope that you have a similar understanding regarding our relationship with nature."
"Of course." The Matriarch took a metaphorical step back. "We do not intend to impose our ways. We simply hope to share with you what you are able and willing to take, and likewise, we too hope to learn about your ways when it comes to the exotic matter that has whipped the entirety of the true world into a frenzy. We hope to cultivate a genuine friendship with human civilization."
Rui smiled. "We, too, hope for just that, Matriarch."
"In that case, let us not delay your journey to West Genora," the matriarch remarked. "The sooner you have the opportunity to speak to my sisters and understand our civilization as a whole, the more you will understand what our civilization is like."
Her eyes sharpened.
"Do not gain too high an opinion from what you see here in this little settlement, Dawnbringer."
Rui’s eyebrows furrowed at those words.
He didn’t quite understand what she was trying to convey.
Why would a matriarch of the dark elves try not to provide a good impression of her people and her civilization?
He wasn’t sure.
"May the Goddess R’oetem bless your voyage."
Their short meeting came to an end as Rui and Amare emerged from the little tree hut.
"I hope you had a good talk with the matriarch," Veruschia remarked, waiting for them outside with a staff assistant. "I will be escorting you to Genora. We have prepared a means of transport for you. Please come this way."
Rui and Amare obliged as they trudged through the dark elf settlement.
Even as they walked through tree homes that were neatly aligned in what felt like a forest of a settlement, the other dark elves stole curious glances at them. Rui raised an eyebrow with curiosity as he spotted several kids among the dark elves, playing about in the trees that the dark elves had erected.
The children seemed no different from human children or even blood children, for that matter. The differences hadn’t had enough time to manifest, but even he could feel that the elven children seemed to connect with nature at a level that exceeded what humans could even dream of doing.
At the coast of the elven settlement was an enormous bridge emerging from the depths of the true world.
It was a bridge that connected the Genora Continent with the Panama Continent.
The giant wooden bridge resembled a giant branch that had gone crazy and haywire with its growth cells, crossing the titanic gap between continents.
On the end facing the Panama Continent, the bridge contained a large indentation, able to fit many people within it, making the entire bridge resemble a giant, long wooden spoon.
"Please," Veruschia gestured to it. "Make yourself comfortable."
"Interesting," Rui murmured as he entered the little wooden cavity, along with an excited Amare.
RUMBLE
The world shook as the bridge disentangled from the continent, rushing back towards the Genora Continent at extremely high speeds. The dark elves tolerated this by harmonizing with the flora, allowing it to merge into their body to form a perfect inertial booster, allowing them to be accelerated to great speeds without having their bodies crushed.
WHOOSH!
Rui and Amare, on the other hand, simply tolerated the pressure and force with their raw physicality and some breathing techniques as the bridge dragged them away at great speeds. The cool, yet humid sea breeze brushed past them with great vigor as their hair and clothes danced in the winds. The setting Sun seemed to dip even quicker as they headed southwest towards West Genora.
"Do elves travel with extended flora in this manner regularly?" Amare asked with amazement.
"Yes," Veruschia replied. "We try to rely on nature for everything. That has been our way for eons. That has been the way of most races in the past until they disdained the limits of nature and their evolution took another path."
Rui’s eyes lit up. "Does that mean that the dark elves believe that they were the first race to emerge from ancestral humanity?"
"Correct," Veruschia replied with a flat tone. "Although the other species beg to differ and reject our truth. The fact of the matter is that the dark elves are simply those of the ancestral humanity that chose to maintain their bond with human civilization after the Era of Tumult. And thus, we evolved to communicate and connect with nature. And when trees and nature began paling in comparison to the other paths, we decided that we would develop technology that allowed us to enhance nature and strengthen it."
"...Hence the botanical biotechnology," Rui remarked knowingly. "Strengthening nature was no different from strengthening yourselves since nature became the basis of your power."
The older woman nodded. "Indeed. We are as strong as our flora is. That is also one reason that we are eager to form a bond of true friendship with your species. We hope to harness the power of your exotic flora and use it to enhance our own flora. Although we do disdain warre, we realize that those who are unable to wage it are doomed to extinction. In particular, we face threats from the Continents of Samarkha, Acherialis, and Moridia."
"The giants, tekvores, and evosapiens," Rui murmured. "The same threats that we face. Indeed, we have many common enemies. I can assure you that we will help you gain what you seek as long as our friendship works out exactly as we hope it does."
