Chapter 273 - 272. Yuh Ji Bun Shop
Chapter 273: 272. Yuh Ji Bun Shop
Yuh Ji Bun Shop, as a century-old establishment, was very famous locally.
And, it was also quite prestigious.
This prestige was reflected in their policy of selling only two pots a day, one at eight in the morning and the other at one in the afternoon.
By the time the crew wrapped up, it was past twelve, and the two arrived just in time for the last batch of the afternoon.
Among the crowd of elderly men and women, two tall women wearing facemasks stood out, instantly drawing countless curious looks.
Luckily, those queuing were mainly older locals unfamiliar with young female stars. After casting a few curious glances and murmuring amongst themselves, they didn’t pay much attention anymore.
Otherwise, if there had been any dedicated fans around, they would have recognized them immediately.
"Why is this place so busy?"
The queue demonstrated the popularity of the bun shop, and even though Chen Xin, a local, was mentally prepared, the sight of the crowd of seniors still dumbfounded him.
"There’s only one batch left, with a line this long; by the time it’s our turn, not even a piece of the steaming cloth will be left."
Chen Xin felt that they might not get to eat after all.
Tang Shu, on the other hand, was very calm. Seeing things were as she expected, she simply took out her phone, quickly tapped away, and then put it back.
"We will be able to eat."
"You sure?"
"I’m sure."
"Xiao Tang Shu, stealing is illegal, and that includes stealing buns."
"I’m not stealing."
"???"
Seeing Tang Shu’s unflustered demeanor left Chen Xin utterly puzzled.
Then, ten minutes later, the last five buns of the final batch were sold.
A man looking to be in his thirties, dressed in a spotless chef’s uniform, stood under the sign of the bun shop, calling out to the customers while holding the last piece of steaming cloth in his hand.
"Sorry everyone, today’s buns are sold out. If you want some, you can come back tomorrow morning!"
"Xiao Yuh, remember to make more next time, couldn’t get any today, sigh—"
"No worries, Aunt Zhang, I’ll save ten specially for you tomorrow morning, is that okay?"
"Deal, let’s agree on that then. I’ll come over at 7 a.m. to pick them up."
"Alright!"
As Aunt Zhang left the queue, some people just left, while others talked briefly with the boss and walked away with a smile—no one showed any dissatisfaction.
It was clear that everyone was used to this outcome.
Chen Xin, standing at the end of the line, sighed and her face turned into a bitter gourd once more.
"Now it’s completely over, the buns are truly sold out—"
After a pause, Tang Shu, seeing that most of the people had left, reached out to pull Chen Xin toward the shop.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
"Just asking."
When they approached Boss Yuh, he looked up, revealing a pair of sharp eyes, which met Tang Shu’s dark pupils.
The man seemed surprised for a moment, sizing up the two women before his gaze finally rested on Tang Shu.
He smiled.
"Are you Tang Shu?"
"That’s me."
In that instant when Tang Shu saw the boss, she was taken aback, but something clicked in her mind.
This boss was the same kind of person as Wen Nuan.
Whether it was the look in his eyes or the aura that he inadvertently emitted, both indicated a man who had seen blood.
"I’ve saved twenty for you, is that enough?"
"That’s enough, how much?"
"No need to pay, it’s on the house. Just make sure to come back often."
Boss Yuh chuckled, then turned around and lifted a piece of the steaming cloth, revealing the twenty buns beneath.
