Chapter 332: Chapter 331: Snatching a Friend’s Rice Bowl
"This...may not be so great," Rong Yueqing was tempted but her conscience was still tugging at her.
"Everyone will be coming, and it’s been a month since we last saw each other, isn’t it? Your brother shouldn’t be such a petty person," Qu Tong guessed the latter half.
Rong Chengjue was a very contradictory person, generous with money and Void Crystal Stones, but also vengeful and nitpicky; those who offended him basically never had a good ending.
In the end, Rong Yueqing compromised, "Then I will speak to my brother."
With Rong Yueqing’s situation resolved, Qu Tong turned her thoughts to He Zhou who had been silent all along. She personally made a trip to the school and took the opportunity to see Han Song and Instructor Fu Xiangyu, who had always been concerned about her studies.
Qu Tong was now a celebrity at school, walking down the street, she could be stopped and watched, and the murmurs were endless in her ear.
"That is our Prince’s Consort, the wife of my idol."
"Someone who has no spiritual power but operated the Sky-roaming Prime Mecha to defeat an S-rank in an advanced level exam; a freak."
"In the last military competition, it was she who led a team of average strength to first place and even made the two children of the Alchemist Association forfeit."
"She has the support of a Potion Grandmaster behind her; it’s quite impressive."
"Isn’t the Prince’s Consort known for her arrogance and her mediocrity? How is it different from the rumors?"
"How old are these rumors, does your dorm not have internet access?"
"Why is the Prince’s Consort limping?"
Qu Tong inadvertently heard the last sentence and paused in her steps.
She had already tried hard to walk normally...
A minor injury that would heal in two days, Qu Tong did not want to be so extravagant as to lie in a Healing Chamber for it.
Fei Wenxing and Cheng Yao, just out of class, caught sight of Qu Tong and cheered as they ran towards her.
More people paid attention.
Qu Tong: "..."
She really did not want to be acquainted with these two nitwits.
"Sister Tong, even if you’re anxious to see me, you didn’t have to run so fast you broke your leg," Fei Wenxing covered his mouth and feigned emotion.
Cheng Yao pushed Fei Wenxing’s head aside, "You jinx, how can you talk about Sister Tong like that?"
Then he looked at Qu Tong with a grin, "Clearly, Sister Tong did it to see me."
Qu Tong rolled her eyes, "Shut up!"
Such a pair of rascals!
"He Zhou!" Qu Tong called out to the person behind her.
"Captain," He Zhou still respectfully addressed Qu Tong as captain.
Qu Tong smiled, took an invitation out of the Space Button, and handed it over, "This is for you."
He Zhou stared at the invitation in front of him, stunned.
"I have something on the day after tomorrow..." His tone wasn’t very certain.
Fei Wenxing leaned over, "I’ve already asked him; he said he’s got a match booked at the Underground Fighting Arena and can’t join us."
Cheng Yao looked at He Zhou with puzzlement, "Any other time could be scheduled for a match, but the celebration banquet of His Excellency the God of War happens just once. Don’t miss it!"
He Zhou’s face showed some embarrassment, "Sorry, I..."
He Zhou also didn’t know how to explain why he wasn’t going.
He knew the captain and others were good people, but that sort of party really wasn’t something his social class could just be a part of.
Qu Tong stuffed the invitation into He Zhou’s arms with a gentle smile, "Keep it for now, think it over in the next couple of days. Xu An and the others will be there, as well as Xiang Bin’s group, and you probably haven’t met Ke Jun yet, right? If you’re free, you could come and see my planet."
He Zhou looked down at the invitation in his hand, its double-layer hollow design, with several embossed golden letters that were splendid and imposing.
Taking a deep breath, he responded with complex emotions, "Okay."
Fei Wenxing and Cheng Yao’s family already had invitations, so Qu Tong didn’t need to provide any more.
However, what the two were really looking forward to was a vacation on Qu Tong’s planet.
Qu Tong told them to talk about it during the holiday.
The military academy was different from other universities; there was only one semester each year.
Once the Mecha Single Soldier Department entered the second year, the course load increased, and sometimes even Saturdays and Sundays were utilized.
After finishing up here, Qu Tong made time to visit her two mentors.
Fu Xiangyu was now a Senior Alchemist and had been assigned a new single-person office. At the moment, there were two other people in Fu Xiangyu’s office.
Old Man Yuan and Principal Wei.
"Hey! Girl! Why are you here?" Old Man Yuan, upon seeing Qu Tong, immediately lit up with a happy smile and rose from his seat.
The two exchanged looks, and only then did Old Man Yuan realize that his behavior might have been a bit improper.
He sat back down.
Qu Tong then offered a compliant smile and greeted them politely, "Old Yuan! Principal Wei, Instructor Fu!"
Principal Wei smiled kindly and invited Qu Tong to sit down, "Qu Tong, you seem quite familiar with Old Yuan."
"Didn’t I say before? This little girl counts as my half-disciple," Old Yuan explained, carrying the aloof air of a Potion Grandmaster.
Fu Xiangyu wasn’t particularly surprised; after all, not just anyone could get a hold of Old Yuan’s elixir handbook.
Qu Tong came to speak with Fu Xiangyu about the mid-term exams.
While Old Yuan was there to reminisce with Principal Wei.
After Qu Tong finished her conversation, a student came to call for her, saying the principal was looking for her.
When Qu Tong arrived at the office, she only saw Old Man Yuan sitting in front of the intelligent brain.
"Where’s Principal Wei?" Qu Tong walked in and asked.
"He went to the Mecha Department. I asked him to call you over," Old Yuan resumed his mischievous old child demeanor.
"What do you need me for, Old Yuan?" Qu Tong remained cautious with her words – who knew if there were cameras in the office.
Old Yuan’s next words dispelled Qu Tong’s concerns, "I turned off the cameras. I know this place better than Wei Xiaochun."
Qu Tong couldn’t help but feel that Principal Wei’s name carried a hint of humor.
Choosing a chair to sit on, she changed her tone and repeated, "So, what is it? I still need to go to the Mecha Department later."
The shrewdness in Old Man Yuan’s eyes met Qu Tong’s gaze, "Girl, what do you think about me becoming the principal?"
"You?" Qu Tong looked at Old Man Yuan with surprise.
"Indeed. Si Yuting said the condition was negotiable, right? If I’m to choose, I might as well choose the position with the most power," Old Man Yuan puffed out his chest proudly, "Them getting an esteemed Potion Grandmaster as their principal? They should consider themselves lucky."
"But I still need to consider your opinion. If my precious disciple doesn’t like it, then I can’t be bothered to meddle," he added.
Old Man Yuan briefly explained the situation to Qu Tong.
"It’s up to you. You make your own decision; you don’t have to ask me," Qu Tong looked at Old Man Yuan’s feet propped on the desk, and her mouth twitched, "But isn’t Principal Wei your friend? Is it really okay for you to take his job like that?"
Old Man Yuan snorted, "What’s the big deal? He doesn’t command much respect anyway, can’t even control those troublemakers in the Alchemist Association. Just let him be the vice principal then."
"If it makes you happy," Qu Tong stopped talking.
Old Man Yuan started muttering to himself, "But there’s one downside – being principal is too exhausting. It’d be better if it was a nominal position with no actual responsibilities."
In the principal’s office, the two discussed the next steps.
Old Man Yuan wanted to teach at the First Military Academy for two reasons: one was to personally investigate the truth behind the events of yesteryear, and the other was to help Qu Tong graduate faster, so she could have more time to study elixirs under him.
Just like the last time, if Old Man Yuan could suppress the Alchemist Association, Qu Tong could directly switch departments, without being held up in the Pharmaceutical Department, and without the need to return for timed exams.
When time was right, Qu Tong headed to the Mecha Department before returning to Yuelan Bay.
