Chapter 281: Chapter 280: Provoking Du Biao
Qu Tong furrowed her brow at the Star Thieves surrounding her, only two of them were SS-rank.
Fighting wasn’t impossible, she could take on another two hundred and still not be harmed, but if she truly didn’t care and started fighting, she didn’t know how many innocent bystanders would get hurt.
The Star Thieves wouldn’t care about the hostages’ wellbeing, and she might not even have the chance to look out for Xiaoguang and the others.
Qu Tong signaled Rong Yueqing, who was dressed shabbily with a face full of pockmarks, gesturing for her to come over; Rong Yueqing immediately and cautiously moved closer to her.
Qu Tong shifted her gaze away, no longer looking at the disorderly and shattered expressions of the women and children on the ground, as another glance was just another burden.
The earless dead Star Thieves didn’t care, each locking their wolfish eyes on Qu Tong.
The Star Thieves Gang, ranked second in the entire Interstellar, was not confined to the Canaan Empire alone.
With a total number of over 2000 members, most who remain in the gang are fiercely brutal characters. The only criterion for joining the gang was strength.
Those who failed to join or refused to join couldn’t escape death.
It’s said that they once had over 3000 members, but four years ago, they suffered a major blow led by Si Yuting and half of their members were lost, escaping to the Kasa Empire.
In recent years, they had recruited a new batch of members and their numbers had risen back to over 2000.
This place must be just a temporary foothold for them.
With a few shots ringing out, a Star Thief shouted fiercely, "Still thinking of running? Think you’re saved now? I can send you to meet the king of hell right now."
Frightened by the gunshot, Rong Yueqing screamed and lunged forward.
Qu Tong reached out to steady Rong Yueqing, while using a Spirit Power Barrier to block the bullets.
The sound of gunfire caused the women to tremble instantaneously, and those close to Qu Tong screamed and swarmed behind her.
Qu Tong frowned, worried about harming Ke Jun, and summoned a thick vine from the ground, encircling both Ke Jun and Xiaoguang.
"Foolish woman, bold enough to come alone, clueless about death, lived all these years and never handled a woman with special abilities, perfect," vulgarities rolled off his tongue, causing Qu Tong’s brow to furrow tight, her gaze cold as daggers.
The attack of the Star Thieves had reached her, forcing Qu Tong to disengage and respond.
Initially, the Star Thieves didn’t take Qu Tong seriously, just a few approached to deal with her, while the rest watched, occasionally slaughtering a hostage trying to escape.
It was only after a dozen Star Thieves had died by Qu Tong’s hand did the others curse and join the fray.
Qu Tong, after all, had limited energy and couldn’t look after everyone; she did her best to save those close by, but there was nothing she could do for those far away from her.
"Damn it! This woman is SSS-rank!"
A Star Thief tried to summon a Mecha, but was immediately immobilized by Qu Tong’s overpowering spiritual power. A vine whipped up an old magnetic block beside him and directly shattered the Mecha’s power cell, with the Star Thief rolling out of the fiery Mecha and cursing viciously.
Pressed by many Star Thieves, Qu Tong had to move away from the center of the attack.
This gave the Star Thieves a chance, and another group made their move towards Rong Yueqing and Xiaoguang.
Qu Tong was startled, her vine sweeping swiftly and fiercely, eliminating the two in front of her and stepping on the bodies of Star Thieves as she charged over.
The vine flung a large knife away, wrapping around Xiaoguang and Ke Jun from under a group of Star Thieves.
She couldn’t worry about causing secondary injuries to Ke Jun at that moment.
The SS-rank Star Thieves’ spiritual power wind blades flew into the air, cutting off the vine, and Ke Jun and Xiaoguang plummeted straight down.
Qu Tong twisted her wrist, and vines emerged from the ground to catch the two once more.
Two SS-rank Psychics stepped forward, restraining Qu Tong, while other Star Thieves swung their knives again toward Xiaoguang.
Xiaoguang’s eyes reflected the harsh glint of the blade, his face horribly pale, but he bravely shielded the unconscious Ke Jun.
Enveloped in a leaf imbued with strong spiritual power, the leaf struck a weapon with a "clang," grazing a Star Thief’s neck, and blood immediately gushed forth.
The first Star Thief, who had rudely spoken to Qu Tong, grew vicious, spat out saliva, dropped the knife he was holding, and pulled out a pistol.
Qu Tong hastily retreated to dodge the attack and quickly formed a spirit power barrier.
An ice wall formed before Qu Tong’s spirit power barrier, blocking all attacks.
"Pfft..." Rong Chengjue pulled out an ice sword from the abdomen of the shooting Star Thief, his expression icily bloodthirsty.
Rong Chengjue’s men took the opportunity to rush over and lifted up the Pharmacist who had been heavily tormented on the ground.
With Rong Chengjue’s help covering Xiaoguang’s side, Qu Tong fought with all her might and soon decapitated an SS-rank Psychic beneath the vines.
Another SS-rank, seeing the bad situation, drew a knife, slashed at another nearby Star Thief, and bellowed, "Get up, kill that bitch!"
Yet, the SS-rank quickly retreated while issuing a harsh threat, "Dare to mess with the Venomous Snake Pirate Group, wait until our boss shows up; none of you will escape today."
Qu Tong didn’t bother with him; she drew a dagger, coated it with spiritual power, dashed into the crowd, and swiftly executed about a dozen Star Thieves.
Returning to Rong Chengjue’s side, Qu Tong wiped the fine sweat on her forehead, only to reveal a streak of blood.
Qu Tong couldn’t see it and thanked Rong Chengjue.
Rong Chengjue didn’t respond but offered a clean silk handkerchief.
"No need, I’m not that particular."
Qu Tong thought Rong Chengjue had seen the blood on her body; she didn’t take it, preferring first to check on Xiaoguang and Ke Jun.
Ke Jun was still unconscious, with Xiaoguang beside him, eyes red.
Seeing Qu Tong, Xiaoguang picked up a recently retrieved medical kit and handed it to Qu Tong, "Thank you, sister."
Qu Tong stored the medical kit back into her space button, frowned, and admitted she wasn’t skilled in medicine but could only perform simple bandaging. She couldn’t tell if Ke Jun was in mortal danger.
Nor did she know if Ke Jun had found any usable medicine earlier.
She considered whether to transfer some special ability to Ke Jun.
Rong Yueqing dragged one of Rong Chengjue’s subordinates over.
"Oh dear, Cangcang, hurry up. If Sister Ali’s friend dies later, I’ll have my brother fire you."
The man called Cangcang, dressed in black, didn’t quicken his pace no matter how Rong Yueqing pulled, his face stoic, as he corrected, "Princess, it’s Cang Qiang."
Seeing she couldn’t pull him, Rong Yueqing instead pushed from behind.
"Check quickly!" Having finally brought him over, Rong Yueqing urged.
Cang Qiang glanced at Rong Chengjue, and after seeing him nod, began examining Ke Jun.
Cang Qiang took out some instruments familiar to Qu Tong but whose names she couldn’t recall from his space button, examined Ke Jun, then injected him, immobilized his leg with a steel plate, and told Qu Tong, "No mortal danger. He will recover with proper treatment over two to three months."
Hearing her father was okay, Xiaoguang fully relaxed, swayed, and fell to the ground.
After dealing with Ke Jun’s needs, Qu Tong then had the mindset to attend to others.
After Rong Chengjue’s men had evacuated with the Pharmacist, the vengeful Star Thieves caught up, firing an ion cannon that, with its enormous power, killed about forty to fifty Star Thieves instantly.
But there was only a single shot from the ion cannon.
This action directly infuriated Du Biao, who was undergoing a mental outburst.
