Chapter 258: The Elemental Session
Chapter 258: The Elemental Session
0% There were two things that couldn’t be stopped by anyone: time and divine mandates.
Divine mandates were the mandate of the Goddess, and it was because of this that the Great Elementals who usually lived in seclusion were gathered today. There were already two Elemental Kings at the ‘Quay of Tranquility’, the planned meeting place.
“Why are the other two so late?”
“Perhaps they had a bit of nectar last night?”
The male Elemental with a naked torso snorted.
His name was ‘Ifrit’, the lord of the Fire Realm who ruled over all Fire Elementals.
“Even so, why is it so difficult to get together!”
Bang! Ifrit slammed the desk.
Having a fiery temperament, he wasn’t able to wait even for a moment.
There was only one who could appease Ifrit who was like this.
“Do not be so angry when you are simply too prompt, Fire Lord. Everyone will arrive when it’s time.”
The woman right next to him who was being agreeable–she was the ruler of the Water Realm, known to be merciful and compassionate.
It was the Water Elemental King, ‘Secuel’.
“See, the other three are coming.”
Secuel pointed somewhere with the hand that had been brushing a water flower. As she said, there was a man with a boulder-like physique walking over.
“Hello there!”
The Earth Elemental King, ‘Gnome’.
“Earth Lord has come. Where is the other one?”
“She’s up there.”
Gnome said while pointing up at the sky. Ifrit’s gaze lifted up towards it.
There, a woman was floating around gently.
She descended calmly after stroking the ribbon on her back. On her head was a laurel wreath, which was the only visible clothing on her.
There was nothing else that could be called an outfit. It was because while she was technically wearing a fabric made of colored air, it was half see-through like a nightgown.
“.......”
Bow.
The half-naked woman bowed her head, then landed delicately like a nitrogenous compound.
“Everyone’s here including Aerial!”
Gnome counted the number of persons with a boisterous laugh.
Around them were civil and military officials made up of Greater and Elite Elementals on standby. It was a force that would have no problems against an ambush by the Demon Army.
Plus, this was the ‘Quay of Tranquility’ in the deepest part of the Elemental Realm. There were no chances of their talks getting out.
“Good, let us catch up first since it has been a while.”
“Wait.”
As they were about to start, Secuel interrupted.
“One person isn’t seated yet.”
“What?”
Secuel waved her hand.
It was in the direction of where the Elite Elementals were gathered.
“Alice, can you come out now, please.”
At Secuel’s call, a female Elemental, who had been standing with her eyes closed, bowed her head and stepped forth.
“You should sit down as well.”
“...I am not worthy.”
“You’re doing it again.”
There were five chairs in the middle of the quay. Ifrit didn’t know why there were five. It seemed they were trying to seat that female Elemental.
But who in the world was that Elemental?
The hair falling down to her waist was lovely like the first snow, but her voice was haggard and gloomy. With her eyes still closed, there was no way to know what type of Elemental she was.
“I’ll go back to where I was and just listen.”
“Don’t be like that and come over here, hurry.”
“I’m afraid the other Kings may not permit it.”
“It’s fine, so come.”
Ifrit was slowly reaching his limit, and it was the same for the other Kings.
“It’s fine either way so just come in and sit.”
“The Lady of Water has said so, so there must be a reason. Hurry up and sit!”
[Nod, nod.]
The female Elemental, who had been cautious of the other three Kings, reluctantly sat down on the fifth chair.
The arms of the female Elemental were wrapped up in chains and hooks. Flashes of lighting sparked from each of the 108 chains making up the pile.
“...Who is that child?”
Ifrit asked.
“A relative of Atlas.”
“What...!”
The three Kings’ mouths dropped open in shock.
The Elec Lord, Atlas–the Elemental King who had been slain by the Demon King long ago.
“I thought the whole family was killed back then.”
When the King of Elec Magic had been assassinated, the Demon King destroyed his nine families. To say that he destroyed the nine families was the same as exterminating the Elec Elementals.
“Open your eyes!”
[Nod, nod!]
The Elemental Kings urged. The white-haired female Elemental slowly opened her eyes and bowed.
“.......”
“.......”
“.......”
The gazebo in the quay became dead silent.
“...My goodness.”
The female Elementals eyes were gold.
Meaning, she was the rightful protector of the poor Golden-Eyeds and the legitimate heir to the next Elec Elemental King.
“You, you said your name was...?”
“It’s Alice.”
“What is going on? Where have you been all this time and why have you shown yourself now?”
“It’s a long story.”
Alice bowed her head respectfully.
They may be Elemental Kings, but they hadn’t seen an Elemental of Elec Magic in a long time, if ever.
Gnome and Aerial especially since they had been enthroned after the Great War. In their hundreds of years of rule, they had not seen a single Elec Elemental, let alone Alice.
“I’ll explain what happened.”
After that, Alice’s long, long explanation began.
“I had merely been a newborn Lesser Elemental at the time of the war, so I was hiding from the Demon King under the Goddess’ orders.”
Alice had come after being away in another world, which had been the decree of the Goddess. She had been given orders to take care of someone there and bring them over.
While she was there, the axis of time had tangled and twisted like a snake. As such, Alice hadn’t been on Ahrens continent for a long time and only recently came into contact with Secuel....
That was it for the summary.
“You aren’t lying about anything.”
“I swear to the Goddess.”
“Hmm.”
The three Kings hummed.
“Well, isn’t that amazing.”
[Nod, nod.]
The Goddess, who kept her influence limited on the world, had designated one Elemental to be her emissary in another world.
Which meant that the situation at the time had been that urgent.
“Alright, then it’s fine to sit with us.”
[Nod, nod.]
“But how did you know that this Elemental survived, Water Lord?”
The Elemental King of Water, Secuel, spoke with a pleased smile.
“Because the Goddess told me.”
“I see.”
This was the last Elemental of the Elec Realm. She’d be treated appropriately only by talking first with the kind and generous Great Elemental.
Secuel played her part well. Thanks to that, the other Kings were able to accept it now.
“I thought that Elec Elementals had all died long ago, but there was a survivor.”
“It’ll be a shame not to drink on a wonderful day like this! Hahaha! You there!”
Gnome ordered the Greater Elementals to bring nectar and ambrosia.
They warmed up a bit with alcohol before discussing political affairs. Enjoying some fruits including grapes, they took a moment to relax.
In this clean and gently intoxicated atmosphere, the Elemental Kings began bringing up the main topic.
“We are gathered here today because the elves this time are going on a mass tour of the divine tree.”
“Haha, that takes place every year! What’s wrong with that?”
“My underlings reported that the World Tree was soon going to be in great danger.”
[Nod, nod.]
Secuel and Aerial’s faces darkened.
The two Elemental Kings governed water and wind, respectively. Elementals that used water and wind as mediums were able to hear rumors from afar.
“I heard that there was disturbing activity within the Demon Army.”
“Ah, this one knows about that as well. Haha!”
Gnome, drunk on nectar, continued with boisterous laughter.
“The earth shook not long ago. Quite hard, you see! My relatives weren’t able to sleep for a while because of it!”
“What would that be a sign of?”
“Only the Goddess would know!”
Being an Elemental didn’t mean one had all the facts.
They, too, were a race, just one that was closest to the Goddess.
“I only know that there was a powerful seismic wave. If it was an earthquake caused by an explosion, then Aerial would know.”
[Whoosh, whooosh.]
“Hm? You do?”
[Nod, nod!]
Aerial explained by waving her arms vigorously. She raised her arm and drew a mushroom several times.
[Fweet, fweeet!]
And at the same time, she depicted an explosion with whistles.
A girl of small stature was making all kinds of gestures, which appeared rather childish and cute to the other Kings.
“Yes, I see.”
The rest of the Kings each all smiled differently.
“There must be someone in the Demon Army who can create magic with that much destructive and explosive power. Who on earth could it be?”
“They have to at least be of Heaven rank.”
The Kings continued deducing with their chins in hand.
“It can’t be Winter Heaven Jǫrmungandr! Every one of her techniques has no shape!”
“It cannot be Summer Heaven, either. His specialties are torture and assassination, he isn’t the type to cause mass explosions.”
“Then is it one of the other two?”
After some furious deduction, they narrowed it down to two candidates.
Pasmo the Spring Heaven, and Aether the Winter Heaven.
“...What about Winter Heaven.”
“Winter is the weakest of the Heavens. She couldn’t possibly have generated that large a seismic wave.”
“Then does it mean it’s Spring Heaven?”
That was the reasonable way to think.
“Spring Heaven is the best skilled of the Heavens, after all!”
“Had it been due to the lanterns?”
“I’m not sure. That man carries around all sorts of strangeness, so....”
Anyway, the direction was narrowed down to one.
There was a good chance that the World Tree was going to be attacked this time. Before that happened, the Four Elementals had to work together to stop the arson. The Goddess had ordered the meeting between the four for this purpose.
“She said to execute any Beasts we see without hesitation.”
[Nod, nod.]
Kaurelia was the entrance to the Elemental Realm.
The Elemental Realm was close to the Goddess’ domain, so it had to be defended, lest history repeat itself.
“Let us hunt them down and tear them to pieces if we even get a sense of evil energy.”
“W-wait.”
“Mmm... What is it?”
Alice, who had been quiet throughout the meeting, raised her hand.
“Um, since it’s come to this, I have something to confess to the Four Spirit Lords.”
