Chapter 93: Leave The Mistress’ Room To The Real Mistress!

Eduardo was in his room, peacefully lying on the bed and scrolling through his phone. He has been checking the number of messages that were in his inbox from people he doesn’t know.

They’ve been trying to scout him, beg him to reveal one of two of Marcello’s weaknesses, or other things they think he has access to. He exhaled sharply and placed a hand over his forehead.

’It’s not like I’m doing my job as a real guard. All I have to do is sleep, wake up, eat and go back to sleep. Isn’t my life too comfortable?’

He thought to himself and sat up. He was expecting a message from Luca, but there was nothing. He tried not to think about Luca anymore.

Suddenly, there was a loud thud on the door. Eduardo jerked off the bed, waiting if he was going to hear the sound again. It came a second and third time.

Wondering what was happening outside his door, he slipped his slippers on and walked towards the door. The thud got even louder as if they were trying to break down the door.

’Is it Bruno Leo? No! He has been deported. There’s no way he’ll come here. Then, who is it?’

Eduardo didn’t have much time to think. He walked towards the drawer and took out the gun he was gifted. After fixing the bullets, he rested on the wall, close to the door.

"Should I wait for them to break in?" He asked himself. He couldn’t hear what was happening outside the door since the room was soundproof.

The door is also very hard as if it was built to protect a princess. Princess? Eduardo?

’I’m no princess!’

He held the gun to his side, still waiting for them to break down the door.

.

Meanwhile, outside the door, Maria and the other men were still trying to break down the door. She was getting pissed off that the door couldn’t break.

’Just how strong is that damn door?’

She bit her fingernails as she watched the guards. Her gaze turned to Mario, who was looking at those men working so hard to break down a door. She smirked and walked closer to him.

"You have no feelings for my husband..." She said and placed a hand on his shoulder, before moving closer to him. "But, you definitely have feelings for my husband’s lover, don’t you?"

Mario flinched when he heard that. He diverted his gaze to look at Maria and looked away immediately.

"That door is expensive, madam. I’m sure you’ll be able to cover the cost of breaking it down" he tried to change the topic.

It was obvious, but she let him.

"Do I have to cover the cost with my money? Isn’t the Diabolo house super wealthy? They should be able to buy a new door once I pull down this one" she shrugged.

"I’m sure if you call Eduardo out, he’ll leave the room for you, madam. There’s no need to scare him by threatening to break down the door" he said.

"Hmmm," Maria rubbed her chin. "But, it’ll be boring for me to do that. After all, my father-in-law has given me the authority to do what I want to" She folded her hands, curling her dark hair around her finger. The grin on her face made her look like a typical villainess in a novel.

"Please, Madam" he begged.

The grin on her face vanished immediately. She clicked her tongue and leaned on the wall.

"You have five minutes to bring him out of there," she said.

"Thank you!" He rushed towards the door and stopped them from hitting it.

They were all relieved.

Maria saw the look on their faces and clenched her fist.

"So it wasn’t just that secretary. They all have something for that Eduardo! What if he’s cheating on Marcello? If I find proof, he’ll get thrown out of here" she muttered.

.

Mario looked at his phone. He definitely would have called Eduardo and made him come out peacefully but, he couldn’t. He doesn’t have Eduardo’s contact stored on his phone.

Gently, he knocked on the door.

.

Eduardo, who was inside the room, noticed that the bang and thud had stopped. He put down his gun and leaned his ear against the door.

"Did they give up?" He wondered.

He flinched when he heard a soft knock.

"What the hell? They are still there!" He asked.

So far, there haven’t been any gunshots or screams from the outside. It would have been an attack. But all of this was just at his door.

He grabbed the key and twisted it. He grabbed the handle and opened it, peeping outside. He saw Mario and the other men standing there.

"It’s you guys!" He said, with a relieved face.

"I’m glad you’re out, Eddy" Mario said, averting his gaze from Eduardo. He innocently scratched the back of his head.

"Ah... Sure. Why were you banging on the door?" He asked.

They were all silent. None of them could look at him in the eyes, including Mario who claimed he was glad that Eduardo finally came out of the room.

"They were just following my orders, Eddy!" Maria stormed towards him. He saw her and his eyes widened.

"You’re... also here" he didn’t know what to say.

"Yes! I am and you don’t seem pleased to see me. Since I’ve officially become Marcello’s wife, don’t you think it’s time to leave the mistress’ room for the real mistress" she grinned.

Eduardo’s lips curved into a smile. He was really happy that Marcello finally got married. Nothing is stopping him from becoming the next head of the family.

Maria saw the smile and misunderstood. She thought he was laughing at her for unknown reasons.

"You’re not deaf, are you? I said leave this room!" She yelled.

"Ah! Okay. Give me some time to pack my...."

"Don’t worry about that. My men will do it for you" She folded her hand. "It’s better you move to the basement where the other guards like you stay"

Eduardo turned to look at the room one more time.

"Okay madam" he walked out of the room, slipping his gun behind him.

"You don’t even act like the guard that you are. Aren’t you supposed to protect Marcello?" She asked as he walked away. Eduardo stopped and turned to meet her eyes.

"I am, but..."

"Excuses upon excuses. Don’t even consider yourself a guard because you’re not" she said and snapped at Mario.

"Yes, madam?", he flinched.

"Take him to his new bedroom. Since he’s my husband’s toy, make sure it’s a bit pleasing to the eye. Once you’re done, call my men up here. They have a lot of tidying to do since this room smells like... Trash" she glared at Eduardo one last time before entering the room.
