Chapter 160: Luca Got The Job!

A huge smile blossomed on Eduardo’s face as he tapped David’s shoulder. He never knew about the date, if not, he would have ordered David to take the day off.

Snatching the tablet from him, he walked him to the door.

"Master?" David called, feeling betrayed and abandoned.

"You should go prepare for the date. Don’t keep my sister waiting..."

"But.." he parted his lips, but no sound could come out of his mouth. He can’t just openly deny his feelings for Viola.

"No buts. Have fun!" He shoved David out of his room and slammed the door close. Eduardo walked back into the room and dropped the tablet on the table.

"Are you going to pretend you don’t see it?" Maya asked, sitting on his bed.

Eduardo made the final adjustments for his clothes, staring at her through the mirror.

"See what?" He asked.

"David’s feeling?" She tilted her head.

"What do I have to see there? He likes my sister, I can only support him"

Maya smirked. She was right about David’s feelings being one-sided. Eduardo has no idea about what David has for him. Well, due to his first meeting with David, he was convinced about David’s sexuality. David had openly ordered him not to touch him or show off his body in front of him.

Though he later got used to it... Since he has to do his job as a bodyguard then.

That’s what Eduardo believed.

If he was told David had feelings for him, there was no way he would believe it.

Maya glared at the handsome man who finally left the mirror.

"Are you coming with me?" He asked.

"Of course, I’m your girlfriend after all" She clung to his arm, walking out with him. They were heading down the stairs to meet Luca.

"A lot of people are curious about me. What if my life is in danger?" She whispered.

"Your life is always in danger, Maya. You’re a bloody assassin."

"What if they find me and try to kill me?" She whispered as they reached the ground floor.

Eduardo drew his head closer to her ear and whispered in response.

"Kill them"

A smile appeared on her face as her cheek flushed red. She has received permission to kill anyone who tries to kill her.

Their small discussion was misunderstood by the ones waiting by the door.

Luca wasn’t alone. He was with his sister, as usual.

She was also one of the people who saw the news that morning about him having a new woman. She didn’t want to believe it at all.

She wanted to see it for herself, and that was her reason for following her brother.

But, seeing how Eduardo whispered into her ear, she blushed close to him. She could see that there was really something going on between both of them.

Her chest tightened at the scene in front of her. Maya was beautiful in that simple dress she was wearing. She had long legs; her smile was captivating, and so was her beauty.

Nadia started to compare herself with Maya. The difference was really clear.

"...dia! Nadia!" Her brother snapped her out of her thoughts. She blinked repeatedly, staring at Luca.

"Are you alright? I’ve been calling your name for ages" he said, with a worried look on his face. She looked around and noticed Eduardo and Maya were already close by. Without greeting them, she turned to leave.

"I’ll wait in the car"

She said before leaving, slamming the door hard.

Eduardo tilted his head in confusion but Maya just blushed, covering her mouth with her hand.

’Just how many hearts have this fake innocent husband of mine captured?’

She thought to herself.

"Is Nadia alright?" Eduardo asked.

"I think so..." Luca responded. "Maybe she’s just... tired"

He let out a nervous laughter.

"Good. Let’s move to the lobby" he said and walked upstairs to the lobby.

They entered and Eduardo sat opposite Luca.

"I’ll leave you two to chat," she said and turned to Eduardo.

"See you later, babe" She kissed his cheek and left.

Luca’s eyes followed her till she left.

"Is that your new woman? Where did you pick her from?" Luca asked.

Eduardo crossed his legs, furrowing his eyebrows before giving an answer.

"I ordered her online. Do you want the website too?"

"Ah! Boss..." Luca scratched his red hair.

Eduardo stretched his hand out for his resume. It’s not as if he needed it. He knew the kind of person Luca was. He just went through it.

"I heard my father gave you some compensation as my former stepmother was responsible for your parents death"

"Ah, yes... sir," he responded as formally as he could. That was to show how much he wanted the job.

But why?

That was what Eduardo wished to know.

"What did you do with the compensation?"

"I’m yet to use it. I wanted to invest in the project your grandfather is working on, but, I was worried about it crashing"

Eduardo gave him a thumbs up for having a good instinct. The same company that Chrishan, his fake uncle, was after. There’s a high chance it would get ruined before it gets to his hand.

Slapping the document on the table, Eduardo sighed heavily. Luca’s heart pounded hard, wondering if he was going to get the job.

"Your main aim is to work with me, hoping to invest in one of my companies?" He asked.

"Yes... sir" Luca hesitated a bit before answering. He was surprised that Eduardo was able to guess what he wanted just by having a little conversation with him. The Eduardo he knew didn’t go to school.

He grew up reading Nadia’s books and was able to gain just a little knowledge from them. But for it to grow this huge.

"Wow..." He mumbled under his breath. He was impressed.

But, unknown to him, someone who was a first-class graduate from one of the most prestigious universities in the world was inside Eduardo’s body.

"Congratulations! You got the job, Luca" Eduardo said and sprung up from the chair. He stretched his hand to Luca, wearing a smile.

Luca’s hand trembled as he accepted the handshake.

"Thank you, boss." He said. "Does it mean you’ve forgiven me for what I did in the--?"

"No!" Eduardo answered pulling back his hand. "Don’t push it!"

He walked toward the window and saw David opening the door for Viola. They were heading for their date. He furrowed his eyebrows when David sat close to Viola.

"Who’s driving?" He wondered.
