The Mafia Prince And His Reincarnated Nemesis -
Chapter 123: Welcome To Hell!
Chapter 123: Welcome To Hell!
After Eduardo had collapsed in the dining room, he was rushed to his room as Viola hurriedly called for the family doctor.
Antonio was furious. He ordered Ivan to investigate the case immediately. They must find the culprit. They searched the maids and security men, but no clue was found.
Eduardo lay unconscious on his bed, Viola holding his hand with tears streaming down her cheek.
David also stood there, with a glimpse of worry on his face.
"How is he, doctor?" Viola asked.
"I thought we might have to rush him to the hospital, but it’s not as serious as it seems. The poison he had ingested wasn’t that lethal" he explained, shoving his stethoscope into his bag.
Viola heaved a breath of relief as she immediately wiped the tears off her face.
"When will he wake up?"
"In a few hours. Let him have enough rest. I’ll prescribe a few drugs that would help exterminate the poison from his body. As long as he takes it, he’ll be fine"
"Thank you. Lead him out, Fabio" she ordered.
"Yes, miss" he bowed and did as she said. Fabio walked the doctor out of the house.
Viola sighed heavily and pulled a chair to the bed to sit close to her brother.
"How could he be poisoned on his first day here?" She grumbled.
"I apologise. I should have tasted his food as his guard" David spoke from behind. Viola spared him a glance. She remembered him standing close to Eduardo and waved her hand.
"It’s not your fault. His meal wasn’t poisoned. It was his cutlery. As if they knew he was going to sit right there..." She gritted her teeth angrily.
"I apologise" David spoke again.
"You may leave. I want some time with my brother"
"Yes, miss" he lowered his head and left the room.
David stood outside, leaning his body against the door. He tried to remember everything that happened when he entered the dining room with Eduardo. Just like Viola said, his cutlery was poisoned, not the food.
That means he was poisoned before he even entered the room.
"Fuck! How could this happen on my first day?" He grumbled and walked downstairs. Immediately he reached the second floor, someone pushed him to the wall. He wanted to defend himself but he paused when he saw it was Fabio.
"Boss" he called.
Fabio smirked and pinned David to the wall.
"Boss? Don’t fucking call me that. What was that stunt you pulled up?" He asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Don’t force me to drive a dagger into your eye, David. You touched him, didn’t you? You kept on staring at him with those flirty eyes of yours"
"I..."
"You haven’t puked yet since you touched him. Is he different?" Fabio sneered. Angry veins popped at the corner of David’s head. What Fabio said was true. He hasn’t puked ever since he touched Eduardo, which was quite weird. He couldn’t bring himself to admit that things were different when he was with Eduardo, so he made up a lie.
"I only did as you ordered"
"What?"
"You told me to make him trust me. Even if I had carried him myself to the room or... lay my hand on him. It won’t change the fact that I hate being touched, boss. I’m only doing as you ordered" he said. Fabio was silent. He stepped back and cracked his fingers.
"Fine. I’ll believe what you say. However, once I figure out that you have something down there for my Eduardo, that’ll be the last day you breathe. Make him trust you, make him fall in love with you if possible, but don’t fucking fall in love with him. Understood?"
"Yes, boss", he nodded.
"Good" Fabio smirked and turned to leave. He froze when he heard David’s voice.
"Are you the one who did it?" He asked.
Fabio furrowed his eyebrows, trying to look innocent.
"Did what?"
"The poison" he answered.
"Shhh! That’s enough. It’s getting late already. Go and stay close to your young master" he smirked and walked away.
David gritted his teeth and slipped his fingers into his hair. It was pretty obvious that Fabio was the one who poisoned Eduardo. But why? What was his aim?
There’s no way he would have done it to kill Eduardo. He must have done it for a reason. That’s the kind of monster he was.
.
.
Fabio adjusted his suit and hair before knocking on the office door. That was where Antonio was, as they were investigating who poisoned Eduardo and why.
"Enter" Antonio’s voice echoed from the inside.
Fabio twisted the handle and entered the familiar-looking office. It’s been a while since he entered there. There were two offices in the manor. One that belonged to the Mafia and the other, for the mistress. Since Antonio had been pretending to be sick all this while, no one had gone in and out of his office for the past few years.
"Did you find anything, Fabio?"
"Yes, sir. I found the culprit. But, he is dead. He was found lying in his room, with a lethal bottle close to his body. He must have poisoned himself"
"I see. There’s no way we can find out who he met with. Damn it!" He angrily banged his hand on the table.
"Master. It would be better for Fabio to be close to the young master to prevent something like this from happening again" Ivan suggested.
"I’m afraid that’s not possible" Fabio spoke.
Antonio raised an eyebrow, before asking...
"Why isn’t it possible?"
Fabio diverted his gaze elsewhere and softened his voice.
"The young master isn’t comfortable around me. The young miss has told him to avoid me because of how close I was to him when we were children. I have no idea if she felt jealous, thinking I would steal her brother away"
"Haha! Vivi has always been like that. No matter what she says, I’ll make sure she doesn’t stop you from doing your job. I’ll send her back to the States" Antonio leaned his hands on the table.
"That would be good, Master" Ivan agreed.
"Continue to keep my son safe. I’ll have to find and get rid of my enemies so Eduardo won’t inherit my problems together with the title" Antonio sprung up.
"I’ll do as you’ve asked, Master" he bowed. Antonio and Ivan left the office.
Fabio straightened his body and stretched his hands.
"Well, that went well" he smirked.
Of course, he was the one that poisoned Eduardo. He knew that Eduardo wouldn’t sit anywhere close to him, so he purposely set the poisoned cutlery on the other side of the table, just for him.
He just wanted to create a reason to make Antonio force him to stay with Eduardo and he has gotten what he wanted.
’Viola won’t be able to stop me and no matter how uncomfortable my Eddy is, I won’t leave from his side’
"Just wait, Eddy... Nothing will be able to separate you and me, not even your father" he muttered.
.
.
Meanwhile...
Somewhere similar to a void space was where Eduardo found himself. He heard a voice calling his name repeatedly, but he was too lazy to stand up.
He gave up after feeling the sharp pain in his chest.
Immediately he opened his eyes and sat up, he couldn’t see anything. It was dark and empty.
’Did someone turn off the lights?’
He wondered. He pressed his hand on the floor, which was hard.
’No way. There’s no way anyone would leave me on the floor. It’s so hard’
"You’re finally awake" he heard a familiar voice and looked around. He couldn’t tell if the voice was coming from his head or... From someone.
"Who is it?" He asked.
He heard a snapping sound and light immediately appeared in the void space.
He sprung up, looking around. He doesn’t know where he was. There was no door or window, not even a roof.
"You’ve been out for more than seven hours already. Are you enjoying yourself?" The voice asked.
"Is it a dream? Show yourself!" he yelled.
He felt a presence behind him and turned to look at the person. A loud gasp escaped from his lips. He was standing in front of himself... No, he was standing in front of the real Eduardo. He noticed he was slightly shorter and his hands were lean.
"Am I in my body?" He asked. He was back as Carlo.
"Body? More like soul" Eduardo smirked, folding his hands.
"What are you talking about? You’re the real Eduardo, aren’t you? You’re alive!"
"You seem excited for a stranger like me. Ha!" Eduardo smirked and stepped closer to him.
"You were poisoned" the real Eduardo spoke to him.
"I know" he replied.
The space was quiet for a while.
"Aren’t you going back?" The real Eduardo asked.
"Huh? I... I thought I was dead. Isn’t this heaven?"
Eduardo burst into laughter.
"Listen to me, Carlo Morano. I brought you here to warn you"
"Hold on. I’m not... dead? What am I doing here?" He ruffled his hair, confused.
"I summoned you here, you know... Like they do in movies and books" Eduardo shrugged.
Carlo furrowed his eyebrows. He didn’t know what kind of person the real Eduardo was, but seeing this person... No, soul in front of him. He could have an idea of what he was like.
"Why did you summon me?"
"You’ve been having a pretty good life before you made a huge mistake by returning to this mansion. I officially welcome you to hell"
"Huh? Hell?"
