Chapter 116: The Last Dinner! 2
Charlotte was patiently waiting for the important guests that were expected to arrive. She immediately stood up when she heard the door creak open. The smile on her face disappeared the moment she saw Antonio. Her eyes widened in shock as she glanced at him from head to toe. There was no sign of his wheelchair anywhere.
"Darling?" She called, walking away from her seat.
"Charlotte" he also called her name.
She got closer to him, touching his hand. Once again, she looked at him all over.
"You... You can walk" She faked a smile, acting surprised to see him.
"Do you believe in miracles?" He spread his hands and walked to the single chair at the end of the long table.
She bit her lower lips, which were trembling in anger. She was never expecting this. She thought Antonio was weak and dying. But, he’s healthy and is suddenly able to walk.
’Has he been faking everything? Miracles? Did he think I’ll believe such bullshit?’
She thought to herself and turned to look at him, elegantly seated.
She walked towards him, standing close to him.
"It’s really a miracle that you can walk, but what about your cancer or... stroke? Did you get cured? What if it comes again?" She asked.
"Haha! You shouldn’t worry about it. They are gone like they were never there. Shouldn’t you be happy for me? I can’t find any glimpse of happiness on your face," he said, and she immediately faked a smile.
"Haha! Of course, I’m happy. What kind of wife will I be if I’m not happy for my own husband?" She let out a nervous laughter, nervously scratching the corner of her head.
’Fuck! This shouldn’t be happening’
She was furious.
"What about the guests? I heard you invited a few people" She asked, sitting close to him.
"They’ll be arriving anytime from now. Ivan, why don’t you lead them in here? My wife seems excited to see them" Antonio waved his hand. He nodded and walked out of the dining room.
Antonio was silent. He could feel Charlotte’s gaze lingering around him. It was obvious that she had so many questions, after everything that just happened.
"You’re going to make Fabio the head of the family, aren’t you? Viola is a weak girl, and trust me when I say we can’t leave the future of this great family in her hands. It’ll be ruined" she said.
"You’re right. I can’t leave it to her since she’s not interested. She can’t handle the family well, but she’s excellent with her business. I’ll hand it over to my son" he said, with a smile.
Charlotte heard that and sprung up from her seat. She was grinning from ear to ear, showing how excited she was.
"He’ll be happy to hear this when he returns" she squealed happily.
Again, the door creaked open and people walked in. There were a lot of them and Charlotte didn’t recognise any of them as they entered. There were over ten of them.
They kept pouring in, wearing angry looks on their faces. Some of them were hurt and had scars caused by burns on their skin, while some of them seemed normal. The last two finally entered.
Charlotte saw them and flinched. She threw her face away from them immediately as her heart started to pound in her chest.
’What the hell are those two doing here?’
She wondered.
She peeked one more time and saw them staring at her.
’Fuck!’
She saw the pleased look on Antonio’s face as they entered.
He spread his hands and began.
"Welcome to my humble abode. You must have received my heartfelt invitation" he said.
They all started mumbling among each other, with their wicked glares still on Charlotte.
"Darling, who are these people?" She asked.
"Aren’t they your friends? Since our son is going to be the head of the family soon, I invited a few people you have connections with. They have a lot of things to discuss with you" he said.
"What? I don’t know these..." She yelled and suddenly lowered her voice, peeking at her cousin and her older brother. "I don’t know them. We should send them away and have dinner by ourselves. What do you think?" She asked, faking a smile as she clutched his shirt.
He yanked his cloth from her hand and walked towards the door.
He stopped by the guests that were in the dining.
"Since this is a food area, I hope you keep your chat short and not too... bloody", he said, and they nodded in understanding.
He turned to Charlotte and waved his hand.
"Have fun with your friends. Even if you have nothing to say to them, I’m sure they have a lot to discuss with you. I’ll be back after an hour" he said and slowly closed the door as a smile appeared on his face.
Charlotte gulped the emptiness in her mouth as her heart started to beat even louder. She turned away and also walked towards the door as her legs trembled. Her eyes refused to meet any of them.
"Ha! Since I have no connection with you, I guess I should leave first" she said, reaching the door. She grabbed the handle and pulled it. It was locked from the outside. She continued to pull and pull till she started banging the door.
"Darling! Antonio! Ivan! That fucking slave... who is out there? Open this damn door!" She yelled.
There was no response, and the people in the room wore mocking smiles on their faces.
They never believed they would get the opportunity to get their revenge on Charlotte.
A few days ago, they all received invitations to tell Ivanov’s mansion. On the outside, it looked like a normal invitation to have dinner but on the inside, it was something else. Antonio promised to help them get their revenge on Charlotte.
They didn’t believe Antonio at first because of the news about his health. They all knew he was weak and dying; that’s the reason Charlotte had been the one in charge of everything in the house.
That was why they were all surprised when they entered and saw him looking healthy. They decided to trust him. He then fulfilled his promise by leaving her alone with them in his room.
What greater punishment would there be than for one to be locked in a room filled with more than ten of your enemies?
Antonio spent a whole week, thinking of a way to pay her back for everything she had done. Not just to Rose and Eduardo, but to other people.
He never cared about Rose’s death at first, but now, he regretted not giving her the attention she deserved as his wife. If only he could turn back the hands of the clock and ask for forgiveness.
But, it was too late.
There was no way he could hand her over to the cops because they would just give her a few years imprisonment once she uses her connection with them. He wanted something that would leave a permanent scar on her, that would make her regret every one of her evil deeds, and that’s when he thought about that.
He walked to the lobby on the second floor, where her lawyer was waiting.
"Greetings, Mr Antonio. It’s wonderful to see you in good health"
"Hmm, you must be Barista Joseph. Have a seat. We have a lot to discuss"
"Yes sir!"
.
While Antonio was planning to manipulate Charlotte’s lawyer to transfer all of her properties to him, something else was happening in the dining room.
There was no response from anyone behind the door. The maids and the chef left after setting up the dining and preparing the meals. It was all Antonio’s order. He can’t let them witness what was going to happen.
One of the guests walked towards the table and trailed his hand over the fine plate set that were arranged. There were also different kinds of cutlery.
"We were given one order, which was to make sure you don’t die", one of them said.
"What?" Charlotte yelled. They all agreed. They were also given the same thing. "Who the hell are you all?" She asked.
"Ha! Of course, you won’t recognise us. After all, our families were nothing but a stepping stone to you. Just because my parents missed an hour after the deadline given to them, you rained acid on my family, melting them till they died" one of them said.
"You buried my family alive" one of them added.
"You forced my parents into a casket and threw them into the sea. They did nothing wrong! You were just jealous of my father’s wealth"
"You did..."
"You shoved..."
"You froze..."
Every one of them had something to complain about. They all spoke one after the other. Charlotte didn’t recognise any of them but, she remembered every single thing they said.
She just wanted to deal with them, to show off what she could do since she had power over things in the Ivanov house.
The last family she got rid of was the Rossis. She burnt the family alive after throwing sleeping gas into the house.
The two children were able to escape and run to her for help without knowing she was the cause of what happened.
She raised her head and her eyes met with her brother and cousin. Her lips twitched.
"What about you, brother? Cousin? You came here to get your revenge, didn’t you?"
"Where is my son?" Her cousin asked, wanting to break into tears.
"What son? He’s dead. I survived the accident, shouldn’t you be happy for me?" She asked, spreading her hands. "And you, brother. You must have come here because of Rose’s death. How cute for you to love someone who is dead. That’s why you refused to get married. How funny!"
"You’ll regret this, Charlotte," Arthur said to her.
"You think so?" She asked and continued banging the door.
"Open this fucking door. I have nothing to discuss with these lowlifes!" She yelled.
Something sharp immediately flew past her face, slamming into the door. She froze as she felt a sting on her face. Her fingers brushed against her cheek and she noticed she was bleeding.
She turned around and saw one of them, with his right hand raised midair.
"Too bad! I missed" he spoke with an indifferent look on his face and took another knife. "I guess I won’t miss this time" he smirked.
