Chapter 75: Eighth trial - Lu Tian.

To walk the path of power is to bleed from the soul. But not all wounds show, some dig deep and hollow you from within.

Lu Tian’s senses reeled as reality warped around him.

One moment he stood in the Garden of Weeping Blades, the next he found himself in a strange chamber, walls carved from sapphire and flowing silver mist.

Incense drifted lazily through the air. The scent was familiar, intimate, too familiar, unknowingly he had pulled a dark sword covered in ominous aura.

Before him, lying together on a raised dais of silk and light, were Zhao Fan and Jia Mei.

Lu Tian froze.

Their clothes were loosely draped over their bodies, Qi swirling in perfect harmony, Yin and Yang threads coiled and consumed one another like celestial rivers.

Jia Mei’s skin glowed faintly, her breath slow and content. Zhao Fan’s gaze was lazy and satisfied, but when it fell upon Lu Tian, there was no shame. Only superiority.

"We didn’t mean for you to see this," Zhao Fan said with a smirk, brushing a strand of hair from Jia Mei’s cheek.

Lu Tian’s throat tightened. "You... This... what is this supposed to be?"

Jia Mei looked at him, eyes soft but detached. "It’s not supposed to be anything. It is. This is the truth you’ve always refused to see."

"We were supposed to ascend together," Lu Tian said, voice trembling with disbelief. "I stood beside you. I would have..."

"You followed," Zhao Fan cut in sharply. "You were always behind us. Always wishing. Always hoping. But you were never chosen... Pathetic worm, kneel and kowtow 200 times."

Lu Tian stepped forward, hand trembling at his side. Suddenly, he felt a lot stronger as if he had gained sudden enlightenment.

His body began to glow with a dark aura as he rushed forward in hatred.

That’s right... There is only one superior here and that is Lu Tian.

"Argghhhh—" While screaming Lu Tian chatted forward but Young Master Zhao simply shook his head and used his Qi, to stop him.

A magical hand appeared from above and was about to crush Lu Tian but he simply raised his sword and the erased the Qi.

"Hahahahahahha!!!" Lu Tain laughed menacingly while he went ahead and killed Young Master Zhao.

After that, he killed Jia Mei.

"Haha hahaha! This is what happens when you mess with me, I am the true lord now," He uttered.

"Fail...."

As the word fell, Lu Tian’s body turned into dust. He has lost all three of his lives and can only be revived by others.

A dumb pig does alone, a dumb sheep takes its own group with it.

---

"Young Master... Only six of us remain," Ling’er spoke, her voice like a crystalline brook, yet heavy with the weight of sorrow’s embrace.

The six were: Zhao Fan, Lu Qingyan, Ling’er, Yi Xin Xue, Jia Mei, and Pan Wei.

Zhao Fan nodded slowly, a heavy sense of realization washing over him, knowing that the number of lives was decreasing.

Even in death, Lu Tian seemed unable to distinguish between the illusions crafted by his own mind and the stark reality surrounding them

It was a troubling thought, but, how could someone so gifted, someone crowned "Best among peers", someone who was considered a talented Young man, be so blind to the truths of the world?

It was as if they had all been expertly trained, their skills honed to perfection within the confines of their controlled environment, yet they remained utterly ignorant of the vast expanse of life and its possibilities beyond those narrow walls.

They were like pigs, raised in a pen so small and confined that they had never even caught a glimpse of what lay beyond; the potential and freedom of the world remained entirely foreign to them.

They were trapped in a bubble of perceived safety, oblivious to the chaos and beauty that existed just outside their reach, and now the consequences of that ignorance were starting to unravel before his very eyes.

Tch, Tch, Tch... In total, they have lost 29 lives within eight floors. How pathetic to think such people are peerless talent, then again, the talent from the lower world and the talent from the upper world are completely different.

That’s a total of 131 life retaining.

* *

Hmm, if I am not wrong, then that’s 131 lives remaining and each trail will need 1 further life.

Which means 90 more lives or even 91... Then we will be left with 20 lives as the end goal. If we manage well and avoid casualties then all 15 of us can reach and end with ease.

However, I feel like there will be some catch.

I refuse to believe this domain will let all fifteen of us go.

Plus these sheep keep dying which means we need to spend more points on their revival and more points to pass the trials.

Luckily 7th and 8th trials don’t require us to pay points to move forward but I doubt the same can be said for everyone, or else it would have been a very bad decision to not pick too many fruits at the sixth stage.

...

Woosh~

The sword flew from their hand and returned to their respective place while the reality shifted once again.

The ninth trial.

"Welcome travellers, to the game of rewards and death."

A small frog wearing a doaist robe uttered.

It had a long beard, height at the size of 4 inches but a very strong aura.

Snap*

With his snap... 12 boxes, 2 for each appeared before them.

"Hohoho! The challenge is straightforward... One of the boxes contains a reward, while another harbors the consequence of death. The decision rests with you; once you select the box, you shall advance."

The meanings were simple yet profound.

Either get a reward and move on or die.

Zhao Fan couldn’t help but try to use his spiritual sense but the box blocked his spiritual sense.

Both had the same texture, smell, and even the same height... In short, both were identical.

It was all up to luck than any logical thinking.
