Chapter 664: Chapter 653: The Patient (Extra addition for book friend "The Coldest Heart/Thin Cold Person" as a reward)
He had just run out of the apricot grove when Ji Hao couldn’t help but wail, "It hurts to death, hurts to death, quick, put me down."
The three of them then set him down and saw his pale complexion, even his lips were turning white. Wei Chen really couldn’t help asking, "No way, are you seriously injured?"
Placed on the ground, Ji Hao had just sat down when he started hissing in pain, one hand supporting his waist, the other pressing on his chest, and said, "It hurts to death, Wei Chen, I’m telling you, once I’m better, I have to beat you up to get even."
"Cut the chatter, and let me look at the wound." One of their friends directly reached out and tugged at his collar. As soon as the outer garment was lifted, they saw the blood seeping through and he couldn’t help frowning, "You’re bleeding, looks like you really need to see a doctor. Let’s go find a medical officer."
"No way, if the medical officer knows, my dad is almost bound to find out too. I’ve told Ying Wenhai that this matter should be kept from the adults."
"Are you stupid or what? Just because he told you not to tell the adults, you won’t tell them? He’s the one who started it all, you know."
As the three of them kept arguing without end, Wei Chen hastily said, "Enough, enough, can you please stop bickering? He’s bleeding out! Aren’t you worried someone could die from this? Let’s first figure out how to get a doctor and then talk."
Ji Hao complained to him, "I was trying to climb the wall to see a doctor. If those three friends of yours were willing to support me, I’d have been out already."
"If you need a favor, can’t you just ask nicely? Whose fault is it?" Wei Chen said unapologetically, "And you want to climb walls while injured? Have you lost your mind?"
"Can’t get out without climbing the wall," one of the friends said, "When Uncle Ji dumped Ji Hao at the school, he stated that he wasn’t allowed to leave the school at will anymore unless he came to pick him up personally. Even if the school’s Old Madam came, it would be useless."
With sympathy, Wei Chen gave Ji Hao a look and then thought for a moment before saying, "Go wait for me in the grass hut to the left of the Book Collection Tower. I’ll find someone who can treat your injuries."
Ji Hao quickly grabbed him, "You’re not really getting that tiny girl-like Bai guy to treat me, are you?"
Wei Chen slapped the back of his hand and said, "Shut your mouth. She knows medicine, and anyhow, she won’t kill you."
Wei Chen gave his two friends a knowing glance, then ran off to the Book Collection Tower to find someone.
He entered the Book Collection Tower through the main gate, taking special care to look ahead and sighing in relief upon noticing Mr. Wu was not there.
After greeting the duty clerk and showing his wooden token, he went inside to look for someone.
Bai Shan couldn’t be bothered to go out the front door anymore. He simply packed up his things, put them on the table, and climbed out the window with them.
He asked, "Is he really bleeding?"
Wei Chen nodded, "Really, I saw it myself, his clothes are soaked red."
Bai Shan frowned deeply. Although they had argued, if he really made someone bleed...
Manbao said, "Since he was even thinking about climbing the wall to get out, it probably isn’t that serious. Don’t worry."
Bai Shan snorted, "I’m not worried at all."
Arriving at the grass hut, they saw the three of Ji Hao indeed sitting on the ground. Bai Shan was about to scold them for not sitting on proper chairs but sitting on the ground instead when he saw Ji Hao leaning against two people, his face pale and looking at death’s door.
Bai Shan was startled and asked, "No way, I just pushed him a little, and he’s passed out?"
"You’re the one who’s dead," Ji Hao opened his eyes slightly, and upon seeing the three people, he turned his head slightly away, unwilling to admit defeat.
Manbao pushed aside his outer garment to also see the bloodstain. She skillfully tore open his clothes and asked, "Why didn’t you go to the medical officer? I don’t have any medicines here."
Wei Ting, who was supporting Ji Hao’s head, said, "It’s okay, you just write the prescription, and I’ll climb out to gather the medicine."
Manbao glanced at him and had already opened up his clothing to see that the bandage tied across his chest was thoroughly soaked with blood. Opening it up, she found a wound about two fingers long on his chest, which to Manbao’s eye, was not large but not shallow either—it appeared to be from a sharp object, perhaps a hairpin or a dagger that had quickly slashed across.
Manbao, not having washed her hands, didn’t dare to touch it directly. She wrapped her hand with a cloth to examine the wound and felt his pulse, then said, "It’s syncope due to blood loss. We need to stop the bleeding."
She leaned in close, picked out some tiny fragments and said, "Was it caused by a hairpin?"
Ji Hao glanced at her and said, "What are you, a medical examiner?"
Bai Shan couldn’t resist jabbing back at him, "You’re not dead; the medical examiner deals with the dead."
Wei Chen intervened, "Alright, alright, Man... Zhou Man, think you can treat him?"
"I can, but I don’t have any medicines here. The wound needs to be cleaned again, you didn’t get it clean. Whatever you cut him with had some stuff on it, making the wound not heal well." Manbao asked him, "Besides here, where else are you injured?"
"The butt!" Ji Hao, supporting his waist, said, "Cane injury."
He winked and asked, "Do you want to take a look at that for me?"
Bai Shan then pressed on his lower back, gently applying pressure, and coldly said, "How about I take a look?"
Ji Hao cried out with an "ow" sound.
Wei Ting was almost unable to restrain himself from hitting Ji Hao, "Shut your mouth, will you? We’re trying to treat you here, can’t you keep quiet?"
Manbao straightened his clothes and stood up, "Let’s go to where you live. We need boiling water, clean cloth strips, and scissors. And if you have any medicine, even better."
Bai Shan said, "Just write me a prescription, and I’ll go buy it."
Wei Ting’s eyes lit up and he hurriedly said, "Thank you so much, Bai Shan. As a day student, you can come and go from the school freely. It would be best if you went out to get it."
Bai Shan looked at him with scorn and said, "I’m not going out."
Manbao had already begun to recite the prescription. Bai Shan silently repeated it twice, memorized it, and left ahead.
Clutching his chest, Ji Hao asked, "If he’s not going out to buy it, where is he going to get it?"
Even Manbao couldn’t help but look at him and said, "You guys, cough cough, I mean, doesn’t the school have a medical officer? The medical officer will have medicine."
"Didn’t you say the medical officer can’t know..."
"It’s him going, not you. How would the medical officer know?" Manbao cut him off, "Just quiet down a bit, support yourself, we’ll go to where you’re staying first. By the way, you guys have a place to stay, right?"
"Of course we do." Even though they had just been thrown into the school’s dormitory that day, they had everything they were supposed to have.
Wei Ting and Jiao Yong together with Wei Chen helped the patient to the dormitory, while Manbao and Bai Erlang were visiting the school’s dormitory for the first time and looked around curiously for a while.
Wei Ting had already gone down according to Manbao’s instructions to tell the dormitory’s servants to prepare hot water and scissors.
Manbao, filled with newfound curiosity, wanted to ask some questions, but considering her current position, she held back.
Ji Hao was already lying in bed well-prepared and, being very cooperative, even took off his shirt completely. At first, Wei Chen didn’t think much of it until he saw Manbao approaching with a pair of sterilized scissors. His pupils shrank, and he turned to cover Ji Hao with a blanket.
