Xiangxiang still shook her head.

Little Taotie pursed her lips, letting her little head sag, her voice muffled, "I need to go to the bathroom."

Xiangxiang eyed her suspiciously.

Little Taotie looked down, moving her toes back and forth.

"Go on then." Xiangxiang relented.

Little Taotie turned and ran to the staircase, dashing up in one breath until she skidded to a stop at Shen Cang’s office door.

The door opened by itself.

Little Taotie, cautious, peered around the corner.

"Sneaking around for what?" Shen Cang had seen the little figure at the door through the surveillance and had opened the door using the remote control.

Little Taotie tentatively stepped inside and peered around again. Seeing Shen Cang sitting at the desk, her big eyes were full of confusion.

How did the door open by itself?

She stepped fully inside, and Shen Cang used the remote to close the door again.

Hearing the door close behind her, she quickly turned around, facing the tightly closed door.

"Can you do spells?" Little Taotie asked, her eyes gleaming as she looked at Shen Cang.

Shen Cang picked up the remote, pressed it, the door opened; pressed again, the door closed, "It’s technology."

Little Taotie trotted over and leaned in close to the remote, examining it again and again.

"What did you want to see me for?" Shen Cang asked calmly.

Little Taotie lifted her small face, her eyes filled with hope, her voice childlike, "Head Grandpa, I want to investigate a case!"

Upon hearing "Head Grandpa", Shen Cang felt his temples begin to throb; he pressed them and said with a deep voice, "There’s no case for you to investigate."

Little Taotie took out her toy pipe, pretended to smoke, "Just an already solved case, I just want to see what it’s like."

"An already solved case?"

"The Paper-Cut Man case!"

Little Taotie recounted the case Xiangxiang had told her about.

Shen Cang remembered, this case seemed to have some connection with the Haunted House case, which is why it was being looked into again.

Logically, an already solved case posed no danger.

Shen Cang looked at the little figure standing upright and shook his head, "No."

Little Taotie’s eyes reddened, her voice filled with grievance, "Why?"

Little Taotie puffed her cheeks out angrily, her voice stern yet childish, "I won’t come anymore, there’s nothing to do every week! The captain goes to investigate cases by himself and never includes us!"

"It was my instruction to let you look at old cases with Xiangxiang."

"Why!"

"Don’t you like watching Sherlock Holmes detective series? You enjoy those made-up stories, I thought you’d like real cases."

"But it’s so boring just watching cases," Little Taotie’s head drooped, her voice dull and moody, "I want to investigate."

"Is that what you really want?"

"Yes."

A long silence.

Little Taotie didn’t leave; she just stood beside Shen Cang, hanging her head.

Shen Cang ignored her and began working on something else in his hands.

The sands in the hourglass on the desk slowly trickled down.

After an hour passed, Xiangxiang came looking for her.

"Head!" Xiangxiang stood straight in front of the door.

"Come in."

The door opened automatically.

Xiangxiang walked in and saw Little Taotie standing beside Shen Cang, she sighed in relief.

"What is it?" Shen Cang asked.

Xiangxiang pointed at Little Taotie with a sense of helplessness, "She’s been in the bathroom for an hour; I searched all over the Ancient Castle and couldn’t find her, didn’t expect her to be here."

"Take her away." Shen Cang said indifferently.

"I don’t want to go!" Little Taotie suddenly grabbed onto Shen Cang’s arm, clinging like a little Rice Cake that couldn’t be shaken off, "Unless you agree to my request, I won’t leave, I just won’t!"
