Chapter 984: Chapter 984: Mom, Don’t Be Sad

Yan Minmin brought Grandma Qin and Susu to the Qin family’s doorstep.

"Stopping here will be fine," said Grandma Qin as she paused.

No sooner had the thought of entering the Qin Family home crossed Yan Minmin’s mind than it was extinguished by Grandma Qin.

"Alright then, I’ll watch you go inside," Yan Minmin said, looking at Grandma Qin with a look of reluctance.

Even if she couldn’t enter the Qin Family home, standing at the door to catch a glimpse was enough.

"Yuanyuan’s mom, your home, my home, and the school are all so close," Susu reminded.

They were so close, just a short walk away, and they could see each other very quickly, so she didn’t understand why Yuanyuan appeared to be so reluctant.

"Yes... yes..."

It was close by, but even that short distance was incredibly hard to bridge.

The most important thing was to earn the forgiveness of Mom and Dad.

"Let’s go." Grandma Qin didn’t continue listening to Yan Minmin. She carried Susu into the house and closed the large iron gate behind them with a turn of her head.

Holding his son’s hand, Yan Minmin watched Grandma Qin and Susu’s figures from outside until they both entered the villa and were out of sight, then he finally withdrew his gaze.

Su Yuyuan looked confused as he vaguely sensed his mother might be upset.

"Mom?"

"Mm?"

"Don’t be sad!"

Yan Minmin, comforted by her son’s naive words, cried tears of joy and said, "You little rascal, how do you know how to keep Mom from being sad? You’re so thoughtful."

While speaking, she picked up her son.

Su Yuyuan took his little chubby hand and wiped Yan Minmin’s face with it.

Then he pressed his plump, rosy lips to her cheek, kissing away the tears that she didn’t know were from happiness or emotion.

But because they were a little salty, he scrunched up his small brow again.

"You silly boy!" Yan Minmin couldn’t help but smile bitterly at her son’s heartwarming gesture.

Qin Yuhuai drove back to the Qin Family home and stopped his car at the entrance after seeing Yan Minmin and Su Yuyuan.

He stopped the car and rolled down the window.

"Aren’t you coming in for a visit?"

Qin Yuhuai had recognized Yan Minmin already during the last land auction.

That was why he had someone pass her a note, asking her to continue bidding on the land to drive up the price.

He had also been the one to tell his grandparents, arousing their suspicions about the "Mr. Su" and "Mrs. Su."

Seeing Qin Yuhuai, Yan Minmin revealed a resigned expression.

"Mom hasn’t forgiven me."

"That’s normal, you’ve been gone too many years."

"I know."

"Let your uncle come and apologize to Grandma. The one who tied the bell must untie it," Qin Yuhuai suggested.

"I’m also to blame. Mom raised me like her daughter back in the day. Like your uncle, I’ve been unfilial," Yan Minmin said, not wanting to shirk her responsibility.

"Mm," Qin Yuhuai made no further comment.

His own aunt and uncle were not foolish; they should know what to do.

"I should head back now, hoping to see you at the family reunion dinner this year."

After saying this, Qin Yuhuai released the brake.

The next day, bright and early, Susu slung her little backpack over her shoulders, took the Little Bodyguard with her left hand and Qin Yuhuan with her right, and skipped out the door.

Arriving at the doorstep, she saw Qin Yunzhi.

Dressed in a black suit, he stood ramrod straight on the roadside, less than five meters from the main gate of the Qin Family home, just out of sight of the Qin Family door’s surveillance.

And his gaze was fixed firmly on Susu...
