Chapter 978: Chapter 978: Crazy Daughter-in-law (2)

Yan Minmin leisurely replied, "A small issue is a small issue, but I don’t have any grand productions. For you, the things you do are trivial matters, but for me, the bit of money I threw in is also a trivial matter. It’s just pocket money that’s gone. When I turn around and act coquettishly with my husband, he’ll give me more—it doesn’t affect me one bit."

Yan Minmin’s smile bloomed like a flower, radiating elegance from her eyes to the corners of her mouth.

However, her smile was like a knife, cutting at the hearts of the three women before her.

The trio glared at Yan Minmin with wide eyes and tongues tied, choked with indignation and at a loss for words.

Others in the meeting room were also shocked by Yan Minmin’s bold maneuver.

This woman was like a rose with thorns, seemingly gorgeous and enchanting, yet ruthless and even crazy in her actions!

A normal person would absolutely not do what she had done!

Even if one wanted to settle scores with Xue Zhen and the others, a normal person would find other ways! Though it might not be as effective immediately, at least it wouldn’t cost so much money!

Madame Qin, the elder, wasn’t too surprised; she understood her own daughter-in-law.

Even though they hadn’t seen each other for a long time, her way of doing things hadn’t changed from before.

Back in the day, this kid, still in high school, saw their family’s third son cornered and beaten in an alley by a gang of thugs. While others steered clear, she, a girl, rushed in and bravely confronted the gang.

In the end, both were battered and bruised, with the third son bringing her home to tend to their wounds.

That was the first time she saw this child, frail but stubborn.

When she learned that the child’s parents had passed away early and life was hard living with relatives, she occasionally had her son bring things for her.

It’s just that she hadn’t expected that, through these exchanges, the child would become her daughter-in-law.

She had initially intended to take her in as a goddaughter, but in the end, the third son benefitted.

Yan Minmin observed Madame Qin for a while before cautiously calling out, "Mom."

Madame Qin didn’t respond but instead addressed Xue Zhen, "Miss, can you give my seat back now?"

Xue Zhen was stunned, her mind still muddled, uncertain whether to vacate the seat or not at that moment.

After only a few seconds of hesitation, she caught Yan Minmin’s sharp gaze.

Xue Zhen immediately backed down and gave up her seat.

She had already developed a sense of fear towards Yan Minmin in her heart.

Heaven knows what this crazy woman might do next.

Madame Qin took her seat, but her eyes did not wander to Yan Minmin beside her.

"Mom..." Yan Minmin cautiously called out again.

"Minmin, I feel you probably have some grievances against me," Madame Qin said, her gaze directed towards the podium.

"Mom, I have no grievances against you! Absolutely none! Don’t listen to those busybodies’ nonsensical talk!" Yan Minmin hastily explained.

As assertive as she was in front of others, she was equally timid in front of Madame Qin.

"Then why haven’t I seen you for twenty years?" Madame Qin asked.

"Mom... you can’t blame me for that, you know what their temper is like..." Yan Minmin answered softly.

"Hmph." Madame Qin let out a soft snort.

Clearly, she didn’t accept her daughter-in-law’s explanation.

Yan Minmin hung her head low, knowing in her heart that this explanation alone wouldn’t convince her mother-in-law.

There was actually another reason for their long absence...
